The host was very welcoming and accessible. He responded to questions quickly and always had great suggestions. The property itself is the most beautiful garden oasis…very quiet and close (walkable) to both town and beach.,can’t wait to see the next proposed changes! We’ll be back!

Awesome place!

We absolutely loved staying at Mantra. The place was so clean and decorated so cute! The bed was super comfortable. It’s a quiet spot, close to the beach and to restaurants and shops. Very centrally located. The host was communicative and friendly. They also have kayaks and paddle boards for guests! We would definitely stay here again.

Great place and excellent location. Just a block from the beach and another block from amazing restaurants and place to get a massage. The host was very responsive from the beginning to end. It was really convenient to have kayaks, snorkel mask and beach chairs available for use. Shower was great! It was perfect for my husband and I and teenage son who slept on the sofa bed. There is also a yoga mat which was great to get in our morning stretches. Place is well equipped. No formal kitchen or microwave as it just had an electric stove and small refrigerator. However the food nearby was really good so we never cooked. There is also a side by side jeep that can be rented which looked super fun to ride on the beach. Unfortunately our stay was short so we never got to use it. Shore fishing was also a lot of fun. We will definitely plan to come back!

Mantra Is privately owned by Gunnar and Virginia. We have spent the last 20 years in guest services on the finest yachts around the world. Gunnar is a professional captain, and Virginia is an experienced yoga instructor. We have been coming to the area for 10+ years and are passionate about this magical part of the earth. We want to share this passion and knowledge of the area with you. We have all the tips about waterfalls, bike trials, swimming with whales, fishing, cultural experiences, Etc.

We do not live on-site, but we do visit the property daily. We are always available to answer your questions and assist you in any way. Gunnar always has his dog Mala by his side. She may introduce herself with a bark, but she is not dangerous.

Why they chose this property

Mantra Is located Right in the middle of Los Barriles. The very best kiteboarding is directly in front. Fishing charters pick up directly in front. Our Beach is wide, sandy, and flanked by the light blue Sea of Cortez water. In the morning, you can see whales and schools of fish right next to the shore. We are one row off the beach and one row off the main street. A one-lane road in front of the property receives very little traffic. Los Barriles is an authentic Mexican town with an equal balance of locals and expats. This provides a good blend of authentic Mexican culture and refined beachside living. Unlike the other "made for tourist" towns in Mexico, the two cultures have a strong symbiotic relationship.

Our proximity to the ocean and central location in town are key features of Manta Baja. Within a one-minute walk, you can reach a farmers market, five Restaurants, the beach, and numerous shops. We are truly in the prime location. There is ample outdoor space to lounge in the sun or spread your gear after a day's adventure.
