About this property
Kezar Lake water front home; Summer on the Lake
Kezar Lake has been rated one of the most beautiful lakes in the U.S. by National Geographic for years. We are a 10 acre estate with two homes and over 465 ft. of lake frontage. The sandy beach extends out into the lake about 30 feet (no muck to walk in, great for kids), and a boat dock for your boat. The boat house next to the beach, has beach chairs and water floats for people to use during their stay. The property sits on a quiet cove on the middle bay making it ideal for the kids to play and for mom and dad to relax. The lake has some great fishing, canoeing/kayaking, and all other water sports. Nearby there are many mountains and trails to hike, golf courses, great sightseeing, and much, much more. North Conway N.H. and its' over 100 outlet stores and restaurants are a short drive away and is a great day trip for the family to go shopping for back to school or just moms' to get away. There is also a mountain valley railroad train that takes you on a scenic tour of the Mount Washington Valley. Come out and experience all the good things that nature has to offer. We are open year round which is great to see the changes of fall, and the thrills of skiing and snowmobiling in the winter!!!!

Rhonda & Vic,
Thank you for staying with us on your vacation. It was a pleasure
having your family. You are welcome back anytime.
Thank you for your service to this country.
Rick was great and super responsive. Only the one house had a fire pit in front of it and that dock but they both share the yard. Just a little more of a walk to get to it from the house we stayed in. Beds were super comfortable and I got better sleep than in my house! The front porch was awesome in the mornings even in the rain I stayed dry and the chairs are comfortable. Private beach and canoes were so awesome.

Amazing location on pristine lake - a piece of heaven in western Maine
The property is located right on the lake between two substantial lakefront homes, in a very private wooded area. Plenty room for my daughter, son-in-law and 4 almost-adult grandchildren. A few games, cards, puzzles were available. A full fridge, electric range, double sink for doing dishes, microwave, pots, pans, baking sheets/ dishes, and plenty of storage in the pantry. A half bath upstairs is handy to four bedrooms, and a large shower is downstairs by the kitchen. Large dining area, seating for 8 in the living room. Internet and cable, small smart tv. Screened porch with rockers and side tables was a favorite spot. There is a small table and four chairs on that porch. Peaceful. Loons, Canada geese, and merganser mommy with ducklings visited daily. The beach area is a short walk down a wide path. A beach shed is filled with all sizes of life vests, swim fins, floats, noodles, umbrellas, paddles, everything for fun in the water. One canoe was damaged and we did not use, but there was a fine Old Town canoe and a kayak which filled our needs. The water is clear and refreshing, warm and inviting, and located on a very quiet cove. Fire pit with plenty of wood and kindling available. Grandson caught a nice bass with little effort just off shore. The views from the property are indescribable. The few glitches we ran into (from extreme rainfall) were fixed promptly, even on the holiday! Owner was not present, but very quickly responded to any texts. We WILL return!
Great stay, nice area and waterfront. Rick welcomed us and showed us around the property. The neighbors on one side of the house are fairly close. Would stay again and recommend to others. Thanks
My friends and I had a wonderful weekend at Rick's property. The outdoor facilities are wonderful with boats to use, a fire pit, screened in porch, and a great little private beach. The checkin/checkout process was very easy. We would definitely love to go back in the summer when we can go for a swim.
Rick was a wonderful host- quick to respond and very generous with any requests we had. The whole house was very clean and gave us the perfect space (inside and out) for an extended family getaway. The real value of this place is the outside; the large yard, private beach, quiet neighborhood and the BEAUTIFUL pristine Kezar lake right out the front windows. A treat in all of Maine's wonderful seasons.
Beautiful home and setting. All amenities one could ask at a lake house! We were disappointed dock was not in lake as advertised but otherwise most pleased!
Had a really great time fishing and enjoying the lake. Rick was super responsive and really helpful for everything. He checked up on us during the trip to ensure we had everything we needed. It was a wonderful getaway in a beautiful spot. Would love to go back!

A real getaway
Beautiful lake side retreat with the overall quiet one would want to have. More than adequate furnishings and matching dishes to boot. Nice place to explore by boat or canoe in a warmer climate

Amazingly relaxing time
We had an absolutely wonderful time. When we arrived the house was in very good order, and we enjoyed chatting with the owner's dad. It was pretty easy to acclimate ourselves, and it had been some time since we had been able to completely unplug for a few days. The house was clean and in excellent shape, and the couple of cosmetic fixes that needed to be done really did not matter to us.
We did not bring a boat or rent one beyond a few hours, but the dock had not been installed upon our arrival. I'm sure if someone arrived with a boat planning to Anchor it near the house, that would be problematic. For us it was not a big deal at all.
Another positive: that we could use the shed and all its contents (noodles, life vests, sand toys, etc.) was really quite kind and unexpected! That was awesome and generous.
One thing: we thought movie player meant DVD player, so imagine our surprise when we had brought a couple discs for movie night with the kids but couldn't play them! (We quickly resolved that on our end).
Thank you for helping us start what we hope will be a vacation tradition for our family!

Perfect spot!
Our family with small kids spent a week here in July this summer and had an amazing time. The house was large and roomy with AC units upstairs in the bedrooms which was a huge help. Plenty of eating room inside and a beautiful screened in porch outside where we spent most of our time when not on the water. The kids played on the sand beach and on the dock. We were able to rent a boat and keep it on the dock for a few days and that was perfect. The owner was a wonderful sweet man who truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay, which we did! We hope to return next summer. His kindness was ample, the house accommodating and the location quiet and relaxing. Kezar Lake at it's finest! Thank you for helping us make wonderful memories for our children.

Lovely Spot!
This property is the perfect quiet getaway! The location is steps to the lake with a beautiful view. The sandy shore front is perfect for swimming and has a table and chairs for dining right there by the water. We docked our boat out front on the dock which was easy to get in and out of. The house was clean and airy with a lovely screened in porch to watch the sun rise in the morning and to listen to the loons in the evening. The owner was extremely pleasant and helpful, super nice guy! I loved the location and how quiet it was at all times of the day and night. My sons and husband caught fish every night right in front of the house. I have rented homes on Kezar for the past 12years and I plan on renting this home again next year because it is exactly what Kezar is all about...tranquil and rejuvenating

A Paradise - Peaceful and Pristine
Years ago I read an article on the most beautiful, natural lakes in the USA. I love the outdoors and even more, lakeside living. Living in Connecticut I was thrilled to see that there were a few within a decent drive. At #3 of the most beautiful, natural lakes was Kezar Lake in Maine. I had never heard of it and got curious. After some research, I found a small campground and planned a trip. I felt like I discovered the best kept secret in the east… maybe the whole USA! That was roughly 30 years ago and I still go back!
Have you ever fallen asleep to the call of Loons? Somehow it grounds you into the natural environment like nothing else. Here is what is most amazing about this lake and the 30 years that have past. Every other “awesome place” I know of, has gotten a little bit more developed year upon year. Kezar on the other hand has gone in the other direction! That campground I used to go to is long gone. Many of the homes have been silently purchased and closed up by a wealthy landowner who wants to keep the lake quiet. There is less boat traffic now than 30 years ago! I was there on 4th of July weekend and if I saw 10 boats on this enormous, deep water lake the entire weekend I’d be surprised! There are few places ANYWHERE that offer what this lake front cottage has to offer. If you love to fish, this place has “hero making fish” to catch! I used to fish but now I just float around and soak up the silence.
I raised my kids in this little cottage every summer. This place continues to live in them though they are spread far and wide. It’s not always possible but when we can we gather the generations’ lakeside here and big and small love it and know it’s rare and exquisitely special. It does my heart good to know my children’s children can experience an even more tranquil Kezar Lake then the one I first met.
This place is a classic Maine lakeside living cottage. The owner is a classic Maine host. A big hearted, gracious, always accommodating guy who has become “Uncle” to all the kids we’ve brought up over the years.
If you want marble tile in your bathrooms, daily maid service, 24 hour room service this place simple isn’t for you. I love all those things too but that’s just not what this place is about.
If you want to unplug yourself, your partner and your kids from 24/7 wired/wireless world and reconnect with each other and with a truly pristine natural world you deserve to check this place out. (just don’t take my weeks!)

One terrific vacation!
We loved it!!
We all agreed your place and Kezar Lake made for the best summer week we had so far encountered in the last 4 summers, since I began this annual family vacation week.
The positives include the best water ever to swim in, the air-conditioned second floor bedrooms and the screened-in porch and ceiling fan in the living room. Your Dad and the staff at Rosie's General Store told us we had the best weather all summer, up to that point in July. (Mosquitos were plentiful but we came with plenty of bug spray.) Cooking inside in the kitchen and outside on the grill was easy. The new fridge is very nice. The house was clean and the views pretty. My two sons-in-law enjoyed the Lake Kezar Country Club which is so close to your cottage. Some of us hiked up Sabattus Mtn. and it was as described, hiking friendly. The McNamara family also took a trip to North Conway for more adventures for the kids at Diana's Baths. But, really it was all about the Lake! Each day, at least twice a day, we canoed across it and then swum for an hour or so at the beach. Wonderful!
Another positive was your Dad who surely can carry on a conversation. He repeatedly made sure we had everything we needed and accommodated our few requests (light bulbs and a propane refill come to mind). We were two kids 3.5 and 6.5 years old and an infant and eight adults, the Moore clan, and your cottage was the relaxation we all needed.
Response from VrboOwner on 16 Aug 2023

Years of Wonderful Memories
We have been going to this location for 25 years. The property is as described in the listing. The lake is beautiful. with several mountain views. We have spent numerous summer vacations boating, water skiing, tubing and fishing. A wonderful spot for young children to enjoy the water. At night time we enjoyed many nights sitting around the campfire while the kids were toasting marshmallows. If you are a golfer there is a golf course a short distance away. In the fall we have enjoyed hunting trips and during the winter we have enjoyed snowmobiling. On each occasion the experience was great. The owner is a gentlemen and more than willing to accommodate you during your stay. Surrounding areas offer you shopping in North Conway at the many outlets and dining at many restaurants, along with the scenic views of Mt. Washington.National Forest.

A Summer Vacation to Remember
Our vacation was perfect and we all had a great time together. The property was all that the listing had said that it was and even more. This place was fantastic and the only way that I can describe it would be to say it was our own private resort. We all loved the fishing, canoeing, playing on the beach and swimming in the crystal clean water. Picking Blueberries on Blueberry Island was an adventure in itself. We paddled the canoe out to the island and spent 2 hours there with the kids and even had a picnic
there, a great bonding time. This turned out to be our best vacation with our young children. We also visited many of the other attractions nearby. We went for a train ride around the Mt. Washington Valley in North Conway and did some shopping in the many outlet stores there.
This was our first trip to this area but it won't be our last. We have booked a weekend in October to see the fall foliage and another week for next summer. Richard, we really appreciated all you did for us and made us feel welcome. Maybe I'll take you up on snowmobiling this winter. Best wishes, Jasen.

GREAT TIME HAD BY ALL !!!
We all had a great time - and the weather was great. We had to peel the kids off of the beach to leave -
that is the perfect place for kids to play. We also loved fishing fromthe docks, going to Ebenezers and the Loons Nest - perfect for young kids! Oh, and the screened porch was the best part of the house. We spent so much time there enjoying the view. I am trying to think of something to improve, but it was exactly what we expected and we all had a great time!

Beautiful Lake - Shameful Accommodations.
We arrived to find the place filthy. For 10 men to all feel the place was really dirty you have to believe this was not the opinion of a single neat freak not finding it up to snuff. We actually had to clean the kitchen BEFORE using it. We noted a host of broken/disrepair items including at least one window, the only can opener, the refrigerator door (see photo), kitchen drawers, toilet seats, and the screens designed to keep the porch bug free. The toaster was filthy as were all countertops. The refrigerator had significant mold (see photos), the freezer had garbage left in it. The ad indicates that there is a “Gas/Electric BBQ Grill” there isn’t. Well there is, in fact there are 3; 1 that is out with the garbage barrels that the squirrels have been calling home for some time, another locked in the basement, and the third at the neighboring house (owned by this owner’s father). Access to the basement is not allowed, but the owner’s father is one heck of a nice man; if it were not for him the property would have essentially NO redeeming qualities as rented. The sandy beach and nice green lawn; they too are at the father’s house next door. He is certainly kind enough to allow access to these, but they are NOT in the curtilage of the house here offered for rent. In fact you cannot actually see them aside from a dappled view through the trees. The actual water frontage in front of this place is not something I or any of my guests would dare enter, and we are outdoorsmen. The shoreline of the lake in this area was very heavily weed infested (in and out of the water) and the way into the water was a rocky drop off of more than 18 inches (not kid friendly). Worst was the fact that there are not TWO MEANS OF EGRESS, as the porch door is nailed shut from the outside due to the staircase and stone/cement sub structure being in a dilapidated state. Not only does this pose a life-safety concern, it means that you cannot get from the porch to the “water” without going through the house. I have posted photos of this place on a site I felt necessary to create to show exactly what we encountered. They can be found at:
http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee443/rentalreviewsNE/Kezar%20Lake%20Waterfront%20Rental%20%20VRBO%20312244/
The photos on the listing are in part very misleading.
Maine is a wonderful place and Kezar Lake is no exception; I was embarrassed to have brought my guests to this property and I hope that folks who stay here give the region a second chance.
Steven H.
Response from VrboOwner on 16 Aug 2023
The review submitted was very misleading and inaccurate. Our families property is a 10 acre estate on the lake. It has our family house and the cottage on it. First off I would like to address the property itself, We have 465' of lake frontage. The beach is 75' to the left of the cottage. The waters in front of it is for fishing and one of our 3 boat docks. If the renter had tried fishing ther he would have probably caught a 3-5 lb bass as many folks have. In 30 yrs. we have hosted over 300 families and never one complaint. The grounds are kept in prestine condition as the photos show and folks are allowed to use the entire yard. We have even hosted weddings and corporate picnics. We usually do not open up until the first of July and this renter was early. The
pollen on the outside table and the kitchen countertops were courtesy of mother nature this time of year in Maine. The gas grill pictured was out with the trash and not the Weber grill provided. The screens on the enclosed porch were installed in the fall last year and have no tears or holes in them. The porch door is screwed shut each winter and had not been opened yet.The refridgerator was cleaned after it was brought to our attention and a new one is going to be installed.
As you boat around the lake you will notice that we are one of the largest on the lake and
the property has been enjoyed by many over the years. Come see what all the others already
enjoyed. We have two families that are now second generation renters. There families have been visiting us for over 25 years. We hope to see you soon !!!!!
About the host
Hosted by Rick
We have been coming to the area since the 1960s' to go camping . In 1982 we purchased the property and have lived here year round ever since.
Why they chose this property
The property is a well manicured 10 acre estate. The property and the surrounding area provides everything that you can think of when you want to enjoy the great outdoors. Everything that you can imagine is within a short drive. Golf, hiking, exploring, skiing, outlet shopping, restaurants, and so much more.
