What a treat for a book lover like me to have a week at the carriage house! Excellent location, great neighbor for morning walks. I spent days doing research at OHS, and would return in time to watch the sun set through the bamboo shades! Well appointed, and I loved baths in the claw foot bathtub. Would definitely return!
This little carriage house was a wonderful stay! It actually became a game between my boyfriend and I on trying to find something to complain about but instead I would like to clone the studio and live in it full time outside of Kansas City. Thank you so much for the hospitality, sharing your property and the design ideas I plan to use!
It was a delightful stay! Loved the entire place and everything about it. It was charming and warm and inviting. Everything about it was top notch! I was so delighted to be there. I wish I had had more time to be in the space and do my writing.
This property was exactly as listed. Very comfortable bed, easy parking, enormous bath, and centrally located for easy access to all of OKC. I would stay here again if i was in town.
This was my fifth stay at this vrbo.It gets better every year, in part because Michale listens to constructive criticism and keeps making improvements. The AC settings are perfect, the wifi is fast and reliable. The kitchen has ample supply of cooking material. The place is very clean (although the areas under the bed and sofa had a few dust bunnies).
I love this little apartment. I travel alone and feel completely safe. The decor is beautifully curated.
It has everything I need to be comfortable.
Second stay was just a wonderful as the first!
Adorable, eclectic little cottage, amazing location and most all creature comforts. We are used to a King size bed, so a full was a little bit of an adjustment and the lock was finicky, over all it was AMAZING and we would stay again. Loved the quaint atmosphere.
I'm so happy I chose to stay here instead of staying at a large resort in town. I came to OKC for business, but staying in the Carriage House felt more like I was at home. I know I'm going to sound like a typical (north of) Seattle-ite, but I'll say it anyway ... part of my decision to stay here was made over the fact there was a coffee press. Keeping the windows open at night and listening to the birds in the morning while drinking my coffee was magical, unlike the experiences others had staying in a place where everything was plastic and every light was an overhead LED. I felt safe walking in the neighborhood alone, and thoroughly enjoyed being just up the street from the buzz of Midtown. Stay here if you can! The price is right, the location is great and the Carriage House and its host are perfect.
Thank you for the lovely place to stay in Oklahoma City. I must mention the door and lock need attention. It looks like it can be repaired with a hammer and nail. Otherwise I enjoyed the quiet, books and cozy quality of the single apartment.
We tried to contact the owner about turning the heat up with no response. It was pretty cool in there and just asked if we could turn it up a couple degrees. There was a lock on the thermostat.
The cottage studio felt like home immediately. Even though I was only there for two nights I felt like I was sad to be leaving my new home when I checked out. Small touches like an iHome clock radio that I could connect my phone to and listen to my music while I worked, USB plugs, Earl Grey tea, cream, and others added up to make it perfect for me.
The way to cottage was decorated was interesting and not at all trendy or over-the-top. It felt homey and interesting. The prefect antidote to an austere hotel room or an expensive hip, trendy, self conscious hotel.

A quiet, upscale escape in historic area of city
I absolutely loved this place. Everything about it and everything in it is done with very high quality. Michale couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She is an interior designer and the place really shows it. It has a very nice, comfortable, upscale feel. The pictures don't do it justice. It is located in an historic area of the city, close to downtown and to lots of restaurants. The WIFI was excellent. The place is small (a studio) but has seven windows, all of which can open up to provide a breeze and a nice ambience.
While I travel a lot, this is my first time using Home Away. The entire process was easy with no problems. I will definitely be coming back. I'm hesitant to recommend it too highly because then it might be harder for me to book next time! It is a well kept secret and I'd like to keep it that way, but then again, it's too good not to share.

Cute spot, but…
The spot was cute, very centrally located and around a bunch of great places to pop around. However, when I arrived I wasn’t greeted warmly. I mistakenly parked in the wrong area, as I was unloading my bags and was told “I must have not read the whole ad”, and that I needed to move. Which wasn’t a problem, it’s just it would have been nice to say hello and have the host introduce themselves before being brash with their guests. Especially after I had driven 5 hours. The place wasn’t as clean as pictured. The fridge could have used a wipe down, dishes weren’t all the way clean, and after using the tub bugs appeared from the drain. I’m guessing it is just an older spot and the tub doesn’t get used often? Unsure. I also suggest having an eye mask if you stay here because where the bed is located the hosts multiple porch and security lights are shining right into the area the bed is in. Makes it very difficult to sleep. I probably won’t go here again because my experience wasn’t as hoped. But the spot is cute and centrally located if that’s what you’re looking for.

I have also provide sleeping masks. But there is a black out shade under the top shade for blocking the lights which I consider useful for security and safety as I have many guests arrive late..
Best short term rental I’ve ever been in. Tastefully decorated, high quality finishes, quality linens. Beautiful neighborhood. This place is great and well worth it!
The property was fantastic and the neighborhood was beautiful! Such nice people everywhere we went and the property was cozy and full of amazing accomodations.

About the host
Hosted by Michale Stapleton
I am an interior designer. I have completed high end residential, hospitality, restaurants and bar design and and have been active in the design/development of new urban infill multi housing. I have lived in this neighborhood since 1982. I have renovated many homes and historic buildings. I am so pleased that my effort has contributed to the re birth of OKC's urban core. I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. All have found their way to my home and stayed. My home is a duplex. I live upstairs with the carriage house in the back. I welcome individuals who are kind and respectful to all people.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood located Downtown is over 100 years old and one of the most beautiful in Oklahoma. The studio is located on the edge of the neighborhood. If you want to be near the activity but not in it , this is your place. The studio has a wonderful ambience feels like you are in a cabin in the woods. The woods in this case are 100 year old trees and very interesting assortment of turn of the century architecture. Your view from the windows of the studio is upon a beautiful belle epoque limestone museum. This little studio was a labor of love for several years. It was a total wreck and required everything to be replaced and renovated. I do this for a living but when it is your own place you put it behind everyone else. When I completed it I thought I would use it for my design studio but all my design samples overwhelmed it. So when we bought a small iconic mid century office building I moved the design clutter out.
What makes this property unique
Near everything Midtown, Auto Alley, Downtown, Uptown, Plaza District, Arts District, Film Row, Deep Deuce, Bricktown. You won't need a car. Uber is very affordable arrives in about 4 minutes on average and a Spokies station is within 8 minutes walking (bike share program).
