Charming waterfront home, with central location to area marinas, plus Super Dock

Waterfront home located on wooded lot with easy slope to custom dock. Be sure to view our video for greater impression of property. A little dated since we have put in new block steps, walkways, and fresh deck paint.
Dock offers multiple levels for sun and fun. Spend the day on the dock, fishing,
swimming, tubing, or jumping off the upper deck. Keep snacks in the dock
refrigerator or microwave. Comcast TV over the covered area bar. Floater dock
keeps your boat ready to deploy.
Relax in our country porch swing or hammock, have a meal on upper or lower areas facing water and main channel. Before you turn in , relax by the fire pit with family and plan your next day! Split firewood in reach of your chair.
We rent Saturday to Saturday, CHECK IN at 4:00 PM and CHECK OUT is 10 AM.


**The pet fee provided in the quote is only for 1 pet therefor if you are bringing any more than 1, please make mention of any others in order to be billed appropriately and also note that the maximum dogs allowed at the property is 2. The pet fee is calculated as $175.00 per dog per week**

Wonderful week at the lake house

Just got back from a week at the lake house. Great house, awesome location, excellent dock to just sit all day and relax at the lake. Also has a fire pit and lots of games for when the rain interferes with lake time. We enjoyed playing pickleball at the convenient walkable courts. 2 huge decks at the house with plenty of room for our group to eat outside and enjoy the weather and the wonderful lake views. Boat rentals were very close and super convenient from the house. All in all a perfect enjoyable week at the lake house.

Perfect lake vacation home!

We had a wonderful week staying here! We have three kids- 15, 12, and 8- and all three loved their vacation here. The dock is perfect, the views amazing. It's in a quiet cove but still very close to Bridgewater Plaza. Highly recommend this house!

We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and close proximity of conveniences. If the owner could provide information on closest Public Boat dock, that would be helpful to future renters.

Perfect Lake Vacation Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was just as described in the listing and very clean. Couldn’t have asked for a better location either. Beautiful views from both the decks and the dock. Very quiet and peaceful which is just what we were looking for. Homeowner was very responsive and helpful.

Wonderful stay

This house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 children. We gathered on the upper deck every morning for coffee and every evening for cocktails and dinner. We swam off the dock, and as a bonus, it provided an enviable place to do some remote work while we were there. We will definitely consider returning here for our next family vacation.

First lake vacation

The property is as advertised, the location is perfect, we were fortunate with the weather, so everything went smoothly, and we had a great week. They have everything you need: dock with floating dock, kayaks for rent if wanted, kitchen well stocked, and a firepit with wood, starter and ignitor. Michael (Host) was very supportive, available, and accommodating. we would definitely stay here again.

Great Property and Wonderful Owners

House was extremely clean, well equipped and has a wonderful view. Unfortunately, we had difficult weather with storms and high water. The Fox's (owners) paid enormous attention to our needs and made sure that we had a great time. The house has so many extras that made our stay even though it was raining including nice TVs and plenty of games. Will definitely be back next year if not even sooner.

AMAZING Property!!

This house far exceeded our expectations! For a rental home, it had everything you could possibly want and if you needed anything, all you had to do is ask! The pictures don't do it justice. It is much bigger than it looks. The dock and the lake were a highlight of our stay. The cove was great for swimming and kayaking and the proximity to multiple Marinas to rent boats, etc. was great. The owners and their son could not have been more helpful! I highly recommend and we would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Lakefront Property

Lovely week at the lake. The house was comfortable and slept 6 just fine. The party dock was great. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and had no problem docking it at the house. We really loved this house. It was quaint and charming and had a very pretty view. We would definitely come back again. Only suggestions would be to upgrade some of the mattresses and remove more of the owners belongings so that there was more storage space.

Relaxing Lake View Vacation

Very relaxing lake house! For a SML property the steps were very easy to navigate to the dock! Dock was great with TV, bluetooth speakers, and refrigerator. Felt very safe swimming off the dock. Not tucked in a creepy cove. Teens loved playing some of the board/card games. Enjoyed that all 7 of us were able to sit around the coffee table to play. Proximity to water accessible restaurants was a plus. The property listing was accurate. I’m a tea drinker so the only thing missing for me was a tea pot.

Great SML location with awesome views, huge dock with many amenities. You won't be disappointed.

This property is located in a small cove with limited wake. Great for laying out on rafts, kayaking, swimming and boating. The lake can be seen from the front and back of the house. Great sunsets in the front with a community boat if needed. We had more than enough room for 8. Downstairs bedroom is a bit small but there is a huge bathroom on this level. This house is a hop skip and jump away from some of the local Dock bars. There is ample parking for 4-6 cars. Upper deck was great for breakfast and dinner. Seating for 12. Easy boat access and docking for a pontoon or boat of your dreams. Gas grill available. Bar, fridge, and microwave available on the dock. Upper dock has ample seating but bring umbrellas if you want shade. Water temp was 83 degrees first week of August. Be prepared to chill on SML. Most properties like this one do not have wifi. TV and social media are limited but if you want a relaxing week or two on the water, you will not be disappointed. Tennis courts within walking distance. We would go back to this property. The owners were more then helpful in answering our questions during booking and the house was clean and organized upon arrival. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Fantastic homey SML property

We were welcomed into this vacation property as if we were friends of the family instead of vacation renters. The Foxes have provided a wonderfully comfortable lake house with all the comforts of home. They were incredibly accommodating to our family, including our family dog without whom our vacation would have been as complete. From the first day of our arrival, we walked into a sparkling clean house with ALL the beds already made (a huge extra beyond many other properties) and more than adequate supplies of bath towels neatly folded in each of the three bathrooms and just waiting for us. After dropping our bags in each of the comfortable four bedrooms-three of the four bedrooms have beautiful views of the lake)-we walked a ridiculously short distance from the house to the fantastic dock. From that moment on the dock became our main family hangout. The Foxes have created a dock setting that accommodates sunbathing, fishing, a boat should you have one or choose to rent one from one of the local marinas, family meals (with a full size refrigerator and microwave on the dock!), entertainment from a really nice TV with premium sound, quiet reading, wildlife watching, soul searching, hammock sleeping...you get the picture. From early morning until late at night, the dock (there are actually two!) was the hub of our wonderful vacation. The Foxes communicated with us throughout our stay, responding to questions about boat and fishing requirements, tips on where to find things in the house that our children might enjoy (like a card table for game playing) and the best place to find fresh vegetables and fruit. I couldn't have asked for a warmer, more gracious family to "borrow" a lake home from. We will be back - to this home - if next summer's activities allow it.

Cozy cottage, disappointing owner contact

Cozy cottage. Extremely clean. Plenty of bath towels for use during the stay. The house is on a small private cove which makes it relatively quiet. Much quieter than the larger and busier coves. The house has an amazing view of the main channel from the first and second floor. The views are perfect whether inside or outside. The house is also surrounded by beautiful mature trees that keep things cool on the deck and patio. The dock is ok. It’s on the small side without remarkable furniture that we’ve seen on other docks. What is there is dated and not very comfortable. The dock house is equipped with a great refrigerator-freezer which was very convenient. The calmness of the cove made the dock great for family swimming and floating. There are some disappointments. The renter is responsible for hauling their own trash to the dump. The owner states that there is no trash collection in the neighborhood. This appears to not be true. We saw many of the other properties in this neighborhood pulling their trash totes to the curb. There are kayaks at the house available for an additional fee. A rental at this price point should not have a charge for the kayaks. Other rentals do not charge. The owner is too involved during the stay. He called to discuss his concerns with the water level of the lake, wanting to visit the property to check on things. Given that he has owned the cottage since the late 90’s I am sure that he knows that accurate water level and water release schedules are available on a web site. This was invasive and unnecessary. The owner arrived before we left at the end of the stay. This did not change our check out time. Upon the owner's arrival he broached the subject of an uncharged pet fee. He had contacted us earlier via email and phone about this fee. We tried unsuccessfully to contact VRBO and requested he work with VRBO about the fee. He asked that we leave him cash for the fee. He ultimately got it taken care of with VRBO (on departure day) and we immediately paid the fee. This one-on-one interaction with the owner over the pet fee crossed the line. The final interchange with the owner during our exit was his providing of driving instructions for my wife and daughter as they were leaving the driveway. There was something in the yard that he was concerned that they would hit on the way out. It’s a large driveway with more than ample room to stay off the grass. This was again invasive.

Late Summer Fun!

Sweet home in a nicely tucked away cove on SML that affords both privacy and a great view of the water. Swimming, boating, paddleboarding all accessible from the two level dock. House quite comfy, plenty of space, grill, outdoor firepit. We had a lovely time!

wonderful trip

House was exactly as advertised.SML area is always beautiful. Communications with owner was very easy. Having well seasoned wood for the firepit was great. That is not always the case on home rentals. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Almost perfect

Super dock was great. We were there for morning coffee through watching sports at night at the dockside bar with TV, fridge, microwave, fan. Location great just inside a cove but with big water views. Owners super responsive. Only feedback is just a little updating of kitchen stuff as, for example, knives were usable but not sharp. Need one larger pot. But had everything we needed. We will definitely rent again.

Perfect location!

Our overall experience was really pretty good. The house slept everyone comfortably and had everything we needed. The house is decorated to the owner's taste, but we share some of those tastes so that was no issue. The dock is awesome! Plenty of space and room to play. We could not have asked for more! Interaction with the owner was fairly seamless each time and he answered all our of questions timely. We did have a minor hiccup in that we planned to bring our dog, but unfortunately we lost him before our visit. I reached out to the owner to inquire about a refund for the pet fee. I was told there are no refunds even though we weren't bringing a pet anymore, however, the owner did offer to credit that pet fee towards the kayak rental they have, despite the house description saying they have kayaks for use. We found that a little misleading, but we have our own kayaks so it was a non-issue. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone and everyone looking to visit SML!

Great Times at Waters Edge

High Point is nestled at the end of a quiet community that includes great ammenities like a boat ramp,trailer storage and tennis courts. The property is close to everything including grocery stores and marinas. The house is cozy and comfortable,but a little cluttered. The boat house is awesome,including an upper deck and enclosed storage below. It also has a refrigerator and freezer which came in handy while we swam and boated. Overall, a great spot on SML!

Fabulous Stay

This lovely home exceeded all of our expectations. It was roomy and cozy at the same time. It had pleanty of space and privacy for 3 couples and our 2 teenage nieces. The location was optimal, with gorgeous views from all sides, lovely swimming cove, and a spacious dock to accommodate a boat, and very comfortable for socializing and relaxing. The Fox family were lovely hosts, gracious and responsive , and were available for all of our questions. We will definitely return to Smith Mountain Lake and would welcome the opportunity to stay at this lovely home again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fabulous Property with Great Lake Experience

The home is beautiful and clean. You can see the lake from every room in the house! The dock and landscaping make the lake easily accessible. Wifi access is great, which my children loved, you can even access from the dock. We saw all kinds of amazing wildlife. The property is in a cove, so boat traffic is low. The owners are super responsive to any requests. This property made our summer vacation and we can't wait to go back!

My wife and I are Virginia natives who started coming to SML on weekends and then purchased our Fox Lakation home as a great place to build memories and get away.
Purchased in 1998, we have remodeled and upgraded with hopes of someday retiring here. We live on a farm within one half hour away and regularly visit the lake.

Why they chose this property

High Point Subdivision 8 is one of the lake's best kept properties. There is no better
location to own if convenience to area attractions are important to you. By water or car, you have access to SML marinas, bars, food, worship, shopping, or outdoor activities. Our Property Owners section just completed a total remake of tennis and basketball courts. Locked but with access code, you can walk , bicycle, or drive to these grounds.

What makes this property unique

Our rental home is comfortable, spacious, and has lots of sitting areas to view the wide water views. Easy approach slope to dock. Whether you are old or young, most
vacationers want easy access to the water and dock activities. Party dock comes with upper deck for sunning, dining, or jumping. Lower left and right decks plus floater offer easy entry into the water. Wade over to our other shaded deck with steps to waters edge. Little ones can get in and experience wading with supervision.
