The Little Black Cabin - Sauna, Hot Tub, Fire Pit

The Little Black Cabin offers the perfect balance between rustic and lux. We remodeled this cabin with the goal to create a space where you can reconnect with nature while simultaneously indulging in pure comfort. It's a space designed to inspire, and to revitalize your mind, body and spirit - A place where you can chop wood, take a walk, light a fire, sit and relax under the stars, or enjoy the hot tub, cold plunge, or Finnish-style hand made sauna - We welcome you to The Little Black Cabin.

The LBC is less than 2 hrs from NYC or Philadelphia. Located just 10 minutes from the center of several quaint towns (Cresco, Mountain Home, and Canadensis), and 25 minutes from skiing, the Delaware Water Gap, and several lakes and rivers, as well as the town of Stroudsburg, the LBC is perfect for an artistic retreat, a couple’s romantic getaway, or a small family or friend’s getaway. Every aspect of this cabin has been carefully restored and thoughtfully redesigned to produce a rustic yet luxurious, spa-like experience in the woods.

The LBS sits on almost 2.5 acres of wooded land with a gentle slope. Nestled in amongst a canopy of Oak, Pine, and Sassafras trees with an understory of Mountain Laurel and wild Blueberry you will immediately feel the sense of peace and connection to nature. The LBC’s interior includes a small kitchen and dining area, a super comfortable living room with a 16 ft ceiling pine ceiling and wood-burning stove, and two cozy bedrooms. Our tiled bathroom has radiant-floor heating, wood walls, and hand-made Italian tile bath surround. There is an outdoor sauna and cold plunge. A fire pit and wood to burn is available all year. * HEATING/AC: If you book now, we have baseboard heat and a wood stove. If you book after the end of April, 2024 we will have a high-efficiency ductless mini split to provide both heating and AC and keep you comfortable at all times.

* BATHROOM: The bathroom is fully remodeled with tile floor and wood walls. It has radiant floor heating to warm your feet, and custom Italian tile bath surround. There is a toilet and vanity. The bath fan is a Bluetooth speaker.

* LAUNDRY: Washer/dryer are provided for guest use in the downstairs laundry closet located in the Twin bedroom.

* MAIN LIVING SPACE: An open plan living/dining/kitchen is great for entertaining and spending time together. 55" Smart TV, 4-person dining table, fridge, microwave, full stove/oven, coffee maker, basic kitchen utensils and cookware.

* DECKS: The main front deck has Gas BBQ (propane tanks and basic BBQ tools are provided). Comfortable chairs make this a lovely place for relaxation, nature watching (we have LOTS of deer walking through the property, as well as a bird feeder), or convenient location to store your ski, snowboard, our outdoor gear. The deck has two chairs and a small table and overlooks the firepit, string lights, and expansive woods and nature.

* YARD: With over 2 acres of land, feel free to explore our property, or go for a walk on the wooded gravel roads throughout the community – you can walk for several miles on the community roads and will often not see a single car.

The yard also has a small series of gravel trails and plenty of space to explore nature or play yard games such as cornhole. There is a firepit with seating, and the outdoor cold plunge and sauna.

* SAUNA: Our sauna was custom-built within the frame of a 40+ year old shed that was on the property. It is designed to follow Finnish-style sauna principles and includes a changing room with lighting and a HUUM sauna stove and two benches.

* HOT TUB: A 4-person hot tub is located off of the main deck at the rear of the house - The hot tub overlooks the firepit and expansive woods and nature.

*Please note that the outdoor cold plunge may not be available at times in the winter months due to low temperatures - please check in advance for availability as it all depends on whether outdoor fresh water can be provided to fill it or not.

The LBC is located within a non-gated rural community - the roads to the LBC are gravel. Speed limits on these roads are 15 mph or less. Guest will be required to sign a "short-term lease" for the duration of your stay. These will be provided to guests following booking and prior to arrival. To complete this paperwork, each guest must provide a copy of your drivers license and vehicle information.

Guests will be given access information that will be good for the duration of your stay.

All guest must be over 25, except for children who stay with their parents.

Guests will have full access to all of the property with the exception of 2 locked storage/linen closets. and a couple of cabinets in the laundry closet.

Rural non-gated community with gravel driveways. Outstanding for walking, birdwatching, and enjoying nature. Miles of gravel roads to walk amongst the woods and houses. Close to Delaware State Forest, miles upon miles of hiking trails, ATV, horseback riding, public lakes and rivers.

Cars needed - no public transportation.

ADDITIONAL GUEST COST: Base price is set for 2 guests. There is extra charge of $25 per guest per night. Up to 4 guests total - including children.

PETS: 1 small dog is allowed. No cats. A pet fee is required.

Speed limit in the community is 15 mph. For the safety of children, pets and everyone. we ask that you please respect this. Also note that the roads are gravel and there may be potholes. While a 4x4 is not necessary, it can be helpful.

Quiet hours after 10pm - we do have neighbors. Please be respectful.

No fireworks - a $500 fine will be incurred for use of any fireworks. No questions. This is because it is dangerous and can cause a forest fire.

No glitter allowed (inside or outside)

If using the outside water hose, please shut off immediately

No candles inside or outside of the property

Please do not trespass on neighbor properties

There are 3 outside security cameras. One at each entrance to the house and one on the sauna with a view of the rear yard and firepit. 1) Front Deck by Entrance, 2) Side Deck by Sliding Doors, 3) Exterior Front of Sauna

Although this cabin is a 10-minute drive to the nearest town (Cresco), we are on a wooded lot that has forest creatures. Best not to leave kids or your furry friend unattended outside. Also, no unattended food or snacks anywhere outside especially during grilling, truly. Bears and raccoons do occasionally come to the Cabin, and we are diligent at keeping animals wild. Finally - please note that we are super strict about no events or parties or excessive noise. We do have neighbors. Thank you!
