About this property
Rustic Rest Log Cabin, with hot tub and trout stream, near Poconos attractions.
Come enjoy Rustic Rest, a four season Pocono Mountains retreat. Built alongside a peaceful creek in 1939, this cabin features log construction in a peaceful and pleasant wooded setting along a trout stream with a variety of recreational opportunities nearby. Relax in the new 6-person hot tub under the stars. Perfect for couples and for families, we have a fully stocked and uniquely furnished home. Pets are welcome with no additional fee. Although remote in feel, we are centrally located to East Stroudsburg, Jim Thorpe, Camelback, Shawnee, Delaware Water Gap and most attractions.
Interior tour available here: http://bit.ly/49LJpZH
Two branches of Marshalls Creek flow through the property with over 350 feet of stream frontage. The creek has good populations of brown, brook and rainbow trout year-round. In addition, we are within a short drive from blue ribbon trout streams such as the Brodhead, Bushkill, Big Pocono, McMichaels and more.
We have three bedrooms with a double, queen and king beds and an additional sleeping area in the loft, which overlooks the living room and offers a futon bed and a twin bed with a trundle. This space makes a wonderful reading area and/or fourth bedroom. An old time arcade machine (Space Invaders!) and Atari console are available.
The upstairs bathroom features a clawfoot bathtub.
A wood-burning fireplace in the living room and a wood-burning stove on the enclosed back porch help chase away the chill.
You can enjoy the hot tub anytime of day—and it's open year round. A towel warmer inside the back porch, just steps from the new 6-person hot tub, is available for your comfort.
Spotlights light up the Woods of Wisdom in the backyard. A flowing creek, picnic tables, fire pit, and hammock with several seating areas make spending time outdoors a delight.
We provide wood for the fireplace, wood stove and fire pit and also provide propane for the grill.
We are located right off of 209 in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, very close to waterfalls, Delaware Water Gap, skiing and many awesome attractions. Spend your entire stay at Rustic Rest or explore the area's attractions.
Safety Devices: We have five security cameras located on the property. One faces the front walk and lower part of the driveway. One faces the garage and the upper driveway. One faces the house. One faces the stream on the far side of the house to monitor the water level. The last camera is in the lean-to. They will be on.
Road noise. Our log cabin is set back from the road by about 50 yards. Marshalls Creek Road is normally quiet, but traffic (and traffic noise) picks up at times due to commuters. Most are not bothered by this occasional road noise, but if you are looking for a completely remote cabin, we'd recommend keeping this in mind.
Our log cabin is in sight lines of 4 or 5 other cabins, 1 of which is also an active VRBO rental. You may hear activity from the other cabins.
Because our log cabin is rustic and located in the woods, you may encounter wildlife including insects, mice, (flying) squirrels, bats, snakes, raccoons, deer, and bears. If this bothers you, our cabin might not be the right fit for you.
For those visiting with dogs, we do not have any fenced in areas, though there is plenty of space to explore on our property.
Note for those with allergies. We are a pet-friendly cabin. Though we clean thoroughly between guests, those sensitive to pet allergens might still have problems with their allergies even if not traveling with a pet. Please keep this in mind before booking our cabin.
Fire pit use is subject to local ordinances. During periods of drought, the county and/or state may put a burn ban in place, in which case the fire pit may not be used during your stay.
Our washer & dryer are there for your use during your stay. We provide laundry detergent & dryer sheets/dryer balls. To reduce stress on our well, we ask that you not run more than 2 loads per night of your stay.
No smoking or vaping is allowed inside the cabin or while sitting in the hot tub. If you need to smoke or vape, please smoke well away from the front and rear doors. Also, please dispose of your smoking materials responsibly. Thank you!

Just what we needed for a long weekend of R&R. The cabin is clean and has very thing you need. The wood stove was perfect for the cold weekend. We will definitely be back. Lori, the host, is the best!
The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Every corner of the place is thoughtfully executed. The managers/owners stayed in touch throughout our stay and were very helpful. Our family really relaxed here. It was lovely.
Absolutely amazing house / property. Our family visited during January and it was perfect for outdoor snow adventures. Our kids loved exploring the back yard (which was magical), and we especially enjoyed making log fires.
It was wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth. We settled quickly into the comfort and charm of the cabin. The grounds were beautiful. The property manager was fast to clear the snow after the blizzard. We will definitely be back.
Great house with awesome yard for relaxing. Only thing is 4 bedroom is actually just a loft. Equipped with almost anything you need. Just light a fire and listen to the creek
Landscape has hot tub, firepit and wonderful babbling brook. Seating and hammocks in yard so you have a great choice of where you want to sit to view nature.
Rustic rest is absolutely magical. We arrived to twinkling lights, a Christmas tree, a warm home and fell in love right away. The cabin is so welcoming and every detail is perfect. We were welcomed with puppy and human treats and even our party’s names written on the chalkboard! The rooms were warm, the beds extremely comfortable and the bathrooms spotless. The property owners checked in continually and made sure we were enjoying our stay. I cooked a wonderful birthday dinner for our daughter, we explored the creek on property, played in the snow, and we all enjoyed the hot tub. We can’t wait to come back. What a truly enchanting stay.
Last minute decision- was a great decision to spend our 31st anniversary w our 2 golden retrievers. They loved the creek and we loved the memories we made. Very relaxing and beautiful home. Will be going back!
Our family were looking for a place just to unwind and relax and I must say that Rustic Rest certainly provided that. We liked that it was a genuine log cabin, that was cool, loved that the kitchen was fully equipped with everything that we needed, Lori communicated with us throughout our trip, thank you, looking forward to our next visit.
We vacation every year and we ALWAYS stay in cabins…this is by far the best one yet! It has everything you need to have a home-like comfortable stay. Whoever decorated has an eye for detail as it was beautifully done and so super cozy. My 13y/o son LOVED the loft and the way it is set up, allowed us to still be together because it is an open air type space over the living room. My fiancé is a true outdoorsman and he so LOVED the real wood fireplace and the wood stove, he enjoyed keeping them going the whole time we were there and we did not need the heater on at all. Last, but not least my favorite part was absolutely the outside space… it was magical, it was serene and truly enchanted! I spent all of my time out there, walking around in the water, looking at rocks, fallen tree’s whilst enjoying the sounds of nature surrounding me and EVERY night I relaxed for a couple hours in the hot tub. Finally, a must see excursion is heading over to the Frank Frazetta Art Museum (only 10 min away!) it is a family run museum and if you are into good old-fashioned, illustrative art, you have to see this in person! We got tickets off of Groupon for the tour and a free poster. Our hosts were the cherry on top; Very attentive and accommodating, got back to me quickly when I had questions before and during the reservation. Top notch all the way around, we will be back with our nephews next spring! Thanks so much…
We have experienced a lot of rental properties; Rustic Rest is without a doubt one of the stand-out experiences. There are so many little details that have been added to the property that make a difference, from the well-stocked coffee and cocoa supplies, to the helpful labels throughout the house that direct and guide you to what you need or need to know. The owners are very responsive, even answering my multiple questions I had before deciding to book. They were a joy to rent from, making us feel like honored guests. The property is gorgeous and obviously well cared for. We were lucky to have nice weather that allowed us to spend time outside exploring and enjoying the grounds. The hot tub is lovely, very clean and works well. My only regret is that the weather was so nice that we had no need to light the fireplace. The bedrooms worked out well for us, as we had a married couple (king bed), two older children (queen bed, and the trundle bed in the loft), and one older adult (downstairs double bed). I think that it would be a tight squeeze to fit 3 in the loft, but it could be done. The beds are all comfortable, with nice sheets, which is such a rare find in a rental. Rustic Rest is the perfect property for relaxation, while not being too far from the comforts of modern life (there is even a great pizza place within the delivery zone!) If you rent this property, just be prepared that once you arrive, you will not want to leave.
My husband and I were looking for a place to spend a weekend getaway in the Poconos and are so happy to have found Rustic Rest. Owners were easy to communicate with. The cabin is out of a story book- lovely and thoughtfully decorated and well-appointed. The hot tub was sparkling clean and welcome on chilly evenings. The grounds are breathtaking. We can't wait to stay again!
Had a great time watching movies in the cabin, morning coffee outside by the stream, the kids loved the hot tub. Lots to do, hiking, fishing, exploring etc.
Absolutely gorgeous property, with one of the best yards any of us have ever seen. Close to town, hiking trails, and highways, but felt private and so peaceful. We were a group of writing friends using a long weekend as a mini retreat to get some work done, and had a wonderful stay. We hope to return as soon as life lets us!
The property was wonderful, the house was rustic just as described. Exactly what we were looking for. Hosts were very nice, great communication. Our girls loved the hot tub. We went to Marshall’s creek falls. Beautiful. We even got to see a bear. Really cool. We had a great time. Exactly what I wanted for my birthday. Thanks so much. McLeod family
