We had an amazing stay here! The very first thing we noticed when we arrived was how clean everything was, which was very much appreciated. The cabin was cozy, the beds were comfortable, and almost every thing you night need for a short stay is there. The wood stove was the true star as it was snowy & cold a few days we were there. The walking trails around the cabin are great, and most everything was a short drive away (we never had to drive further than 30mins for anything, lots of things are within 15-20mins). The privacy & the breathtaking mountain views from the big picture windows can't be beat. We look forward to staying again in the future!
Lynne is a great host! Our stay at the house was everything we hoped for, easy to find, secluded, plenty of space, well provided with all the essentials, and very relaxing. We especially liked the wood stove on chilly mornings, and the view of the mountains we would soon be hiking. Lynne provided good info on getting on the trails early to beat the crowds and was prompt in answering all our questions. The well stocked bookshelf was a plus, and the open space around the house made for good bird watching. It's a place we would like to visit again!

And thank you for taking good care of the place and
leaving it in great shape.
Hope to see you back sometime,

The title to my review may be a song title but staying here I could write a million songs. It was a magical stay. My husband and I could not have asked for a more quiet and peaceful home. The views are breathtaking. Having no wifi, tv, or internet was exactly what the brain needed and we didn't mind one bit. There's nothing better than detaching oneself from all the static. We brought a laundry basket full of games for the nights (restoring the inner child), rode our bikes and went hiking in the morning, and our dog had an absolute blast! The cabin is fully stocked with all you need to cook up tasty meals. I love that Lynn recycles and offers composting! The bed was super comfy, not to mention the view of the Mountains and lightning bugs that we could see from it. Tamworth has so much to offer! Perfect for couples getting away, solo exploring, and families. We will be back for sure! Thank you so much Lynn! Your home is beautiful and has made an impression in our hearts.

Launa and Josh-
Thank you for taking such good care of our place during your visit! You took every advantage of all there is to do in the area and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay.
I hope we will see you back sometime; you and your pup are welcome anytime. Perhaps next year we will beat you at the July 4th egg toss!

I stayed here for two weeks and really enjoyed the house, the property, and all the surrounding area. The place is near many hiking trails and other outdoor activities that I enjoyed. The lack of wifi was great for me as I was looking to disconnect for a bit. Loved all the books on nature and local history that were in the house as well. Definitely recommend!
The house is nestled on a beautiful valley with stunning views. I was very happy that there was NO wireless and that there was a great collection of naturalist books. The house is spotless with all amenities -- yuppies will find it 'not updated.'
My husband, son, daughter-in-law, and I stayed here to be close to a wedding we were attending. It was in a fantastic location. I was a bit apprehensive about not having wifi or a phone signal but it was actually pretty great to be able to disconnect for a few days. The house was clean and very comfortable. The view was fabulous and we even got to see some wildlife. We will definitely be back.
We loved our stay, despite the rain. Cozy cabin, books to read, beautiful flowers around the cabin, perfect porch, views of the mountains that made us all feel better about the world. Lots to explore, stars, wildlife…a magical spot.
Amazing view. Perfect location to unplug and take in an amazing view. The property has everything you need and is so cozy and comfortable. We definitely will be returning.

We stayed here at the end of August and the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful - casting different shades of light on the gorgeous mountain view. There is plenty to do in the area in terms of hiking (really there is all the hiking you could ever want!) and swimming, and plenty of access to all kinds of great local food - farmers market, farm museum, which all makes the great kitchen in this place that much more relaxing. Lynne was so helpful and welcoming - it really was a wonderful spot!

What a great house!
We loved our stay here! It afforded us excellent access to hikes of the Sandwich Range and Chocorua, then beautiful post-run hikes of those same Sandwich Range peaks out on the patio. We're definitely planning to return for a longer stay next summer and maybe a winter visit if it's available.

Not worth it. Get a house in North Conway that will actually have amenities
Really disappointed with my stay. I rented this home for my 21st birthday with my boyfriend. Let me tell you right now there is absolutely no cell phone service, no wifi and no TV. The nearest convenient/grocery store is about a half hour away. The thing that upset me the most was that I wanted privacy for my stay, and Lynne the owner stayed the first night in one of her cabins on the property. I rented a house on 36 acres for 1 reason- privacy. Not thrilled about that at all. In September of 2015 I rented a house in North Conway for the same price, it was on a lake, had cell service/wifi/tv, kayaks and boats on the property, for the exact same price. Don't bother with this place, you can find so much better for the price. Very disappointed. Only good thing was the view.

Hi Ashley;
I'm sorry you did not enjoy your visit and for any misunderstandings you had with our communications.
The house is listed as a place to get away and enjoy peace and quiet; a place to unplug. The description indicates there is no TV or wifi, and that cellular service varies by carrier; true throughout the Tamworth area.
I appreciate your feedback, and would welcome suggestions for improving the description in our listing so others will know the place is right for their personal interests.

Perfect vacation
This was our second Summer at this property. It was perfect in every way. The house has everything you need to have an enjoyable and relaxing vacation. The property is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking mountain views and wild blackberrys, blueberries, peaches, pears, and a vegetable garden for fresh meals.
The house and property are also great for children. We brought our 3-year-old twin daughters, and they had a fantastic time. They especially enjoyed the scenic train ride in Conway.
I high recommend this property and look forward to returning.

What a beautiful property! Well managed landscape and home and the view is spectacular.
We had a wonderful trip! Lynne provided everything we could ever want. Unplugging from technology and tuning into nature was a welcomed vacation for our family. Outdoor yoga at sunrise, local nature hikes, quaint town jaunts, preparing family meals and evening with books were just perfect! We can't wait to visit Tamworth again!

Breath taking views, Peace and solitude
Our cabin , nestled in the secluded woods near old Tamworth village, was a charming home away from home. Clean and comfortable. Most everything was available, less a Television, and wifi. Don't use AT&T for Cell phone as there is NO service. Mid June was hit hard with the mosquito s and copious amounts of vicious TICKS which prevented the family from truly enjoying the serenity the wooded mountainside offered. The home was cozy and easy to get to. Small children might need supervision outside as We encountered 3 black bears on two occasions on the property. Bring protection when hiking about the dark forest of the area. The only scary thing about being isolated (some neighbors nearby) is not getting the home phone to work, and with no cell phone reception, emergencies could not be handled in a speedy fashion. Aside from that, We would recommend a stay at this home.

Thanks for your stay and for taking good care of the place while you were there!
Yes, this has been an unusually "good" year for ticks and mosquitos with the warm wet weather; good for them anyway. Since I live in the area I guess I am used to them!
I've left a supply of various repellents and a note about prevention at the house based on your comments.
The landline phone is for local calls only which includes 911 and any other emergencies. Cell phones do vary depending on carrier as well as location in the house.
I've made updates to information on the rental site based on your comments and I appreciate your in-put!

Breathtaking views, beautiful setting, well cared for retreat
The views alone are well worth the visit. They exceeded our expectations. This is a clean home that has been loved and well cared for over time. It had great charm, plenty of space and the screen porch was an added bonus with idyllic views even in the rain. Lynn was attentive and easy to communicate with. Tamworth was relaxing and quaint. We highly recommend the visit.

Solace on the Hilltop
After a tiring semester of graduate work and working full time caring for the sick, I must admit this house was a piece of paradise. It was perfectly located on a hilltop with amazing views and the feeling of peace. The fireplace was unexpected and really proved to make a huge difference, bringing back that nostalgic feeling from my past. On my third day I saw a rainbow that extended through the entire mountain range from the windows in the kitchen, it was beautiful. I highly recommend you take the time to go to Tamworth and visit the Sandwich mountains. Try Rosies for some excellent breakfast food, and the Chinese restaurant truly is magical. Thank you to the owner for being so attentive to our needs, we were grateful. I will be back again!
P.S- being a dog friendly owner is the reason I was able to come enjoy this beautiful property. Thank you for being so understanding to pets, as a frequent traveler, this means the world to me.

Delightful Getaway
"Hilltop Home" is a lovely, somewhat secluded place to relax and recharge. All necessities are available. From a painters point of view, this location is optimal. There are endless places to sketch and paint in the vicinity. Additionally, Tamworth is a dear town with lovely, helpful people, great farmers market and summer theater. The owner is available and prompt to reply when there are questions. This vacation has been a true pleasure.

Picturesque escape in the mountains
We only stayed one week but we could easily spend a month and never be bored. The view from the patio of the mountains is nothing short of breathtaking. The area is quiet, peaceful and pleasant which makes for a perfect environment to unwind in.
There is only a short drive to some of the best hiking destinations in North America. At the end of the day of activities, the cottage awaits with its gorgeous views.
Highly recommended.

a lucky find, if you're outdoors-y
... or if you just enjoy rural New England. The owner is very attentive, down to the smallest details, and very responsive by email and phone. The house has a beautiful atmosphere, a well-stocked kitchen, and is more spacious than the photos show. There is a deep connection to the land and history of the area... It was the right setup for my party, with the two bedrooms and bath partitioned from the living room and kitchen for quiet.
We chose the area for hiking & it is very well situated for that. We took advantage of the wifi available 24/7 at the Tamworth public library, as Sprint roaming service - lousy in rural New England - was too limited for web surfing. I'm told several other providers are up to the task. We also enjoyed the farmer's market, which featured excellent mushrooms and dairy products, and the local produce of the day, including new garlic and wild blueberries. Did not attend the contradance or concert, but it was nice to know they were there.
I would much rather keep this place as my personal secret, than write a review!

About the host
Hosted by Lynne Flaccus
I am a naturalist and educator, passionate about the natural world.
Why they chose this property
The house and land belonged to my grandparents, then my parents, and is now owned by my siblings and me. We grew up spending summers here, and have lived at the house longer term off and on as adults at different times. The house, the lands and the Tamworth community hold a special place in our hearts. The views of the ever changing mountains in front of the house , and the numerous places to walk from the door provide a quiet place to relax.
What makes this property unique
The house is simple and comfortable and offers a place to unplug and relax. There are amazing community trails in addition to the trails in the White Mountain Forest and Sandwich Range Wilderness. Local swimming spots (Chocorua Lake, White Lake State Park, and Bearcamp Pond) allow for cool swims and places to paddle in the heat of summer. Tamworth is a small but thriving community with a wonderful farmers market (often with music!), events at the Lyceum and Remick Farm Museum and other nearby venues. The Other Bakery in town provides for community gathering over coffee, lunch, baked goods and sometimes music. The local library has events for kids, provides free wi-fi and is a wonderful resource for a short or long term visit.
