The Story Behind Our Family Cottage
Nestled on the shores of Clearwater Lake, our cottage has been a cherished family retreat for over three generations. Built in the 1950s by our grandfather, a man with a deep love for nature and craftsmanship, this cottage was designed as a place where family could gather, unwind, and create lasting memories.
Back then, he carefully chose this perfect spot—a peaceful cove with a sandy shoreline for little ones to wade in and a deep, crystal-clear lake for the more adventurous swimmers. He built the cottage by hand, using local wood and stone, ensuring that it blended seamlessly with the beauty of Muskoka. The original dock and gazebo, now updated, were places where he and our grandmother would sit for hours, watching the sun dip below the horizon.
Through the years, the cottage has remained a constant in our family’s story. Our parents spent their childhood summers here, learning to swim off the dock, catching their first fish, and playing barefoot on the lawn. As the years passed, our generation continued the traditions—canoeing at sunrise, laughing around the campfire, and gathering for family meals in the solarium.
Now, as we share this special place with other families, we hope it brings the same joy, peace, and connection that it has given us. Whether it's a quiet morning with coffee in the gazebo, a thrilling jump off the dock, or a starlit evening in the hot tub, we invite you to become part of the story of our cottage—a place built with love, cherished for decades, and ready for new memories to be made.
Welcome to our family retreat. We hope you love it as much as we do. ❤️
