Second Wind Cottage - ocean front chalet near Mahone Bay & Lunenburg Nova Scotia

This is an intriguing A Frame structure. The front patio doors lead from the open-plan livingroom/dining room/kitchen onto the wide deck and spacious front yard with a fabulous view of the ocean and access to the rocky shore.

The loft area, accessed by a steep little staircase, features a cozy seating area and a writer's desk.

Two bedrooms - one double on the main floor, one queen in the loft are bright and comfortable.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and just about anything else you might need including a lobster pot! There is also a dandy outdoor barbecue.

The compact bathroom has a bathtub/shower. The washer and dryer will save you trekking to the laundromat and all linens are provided.

The cottage features high speed internet, cable TV with DVD, and radio as well as art and craft materials, books, puzzles and games. An oil furnace will keep you cozy if the nights get chilly.

Perfect vacation.

What a Gem!

We can not say enough about Second Wind Cottage, Sally has thought of everything and the extras as well, beautiful sunflowers on our arrival, very clean and cozy and well stocked. The cottage is in a very private beautiful, central location, close to all the amazing towns in the area, but it is really hard to leave that deck overlooking the bay. We were very fortunate to see a white deer, just behind the cottage, amazing. Would highly recommend this Gem and we will be back. Thank you for the wonderful memories Second Wind provided. Perfect for our Staycation

The property is situated with a tranquil view of the water the trees provide shade and the feel of the cottage is relaxing. The property owners Sally and Didier have provided all the necessities for the cottage plus information on things to do in local area. They were also readily available to answer questions. The cottage is located with easy access to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Chester.

Wonderful cottage along the beautiful Martins river and a short ride to Mahone Bay.

We found a gem of a rental....lovely clean cottage in a quiet peaceful setting. The cottage was super clean and had everything one would need for a most enjoyable stay. The owner was a great hostess...met us and even had flowers on the table and brought a plant with her for the deck. The cottage is so close to everything in the South Shore - a great location for day trips to the Chester Basin Area, Lunenburg and Wolfville, then return and relax on the front deck with a lovely view of the river. Hopefully we will return again and will certainly recommend it to friends and family. Again, the hostess is wonderful and generous with information on places and beaches to visit We enjoyed our stay and appreciated everything. Debbie and Robert

Excellent location!

The cottage was located on a quiet road, clean and cozy and had all the amenities. Communication with Sally was excellent, always prompt and friendly. A nice quiet location and close to all the beauties of the South Shore.

Fantastic owners, fantastic location!

Sally and Didier provided us with a lovely cottage in a beautiful, quiet location. Our family enjoyed a week of vacation fun in the Mahone Bay/Lunenburg area, and we never worried about a thing...Sally kept us well informed about what activities were happening in the area, but only after checking first to see if those updates were wanted! :) The cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed, we were quite happy to have some fans, as it was very hot during the day(s). We were about 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Mahone Bay, and about 20 minutes from the UNESCO town of Lunenburg. They were both amazing towns to visit, so picturesque and full of character. We checked out the local beaches of Queensland and Rissers, about 30 to 40 minutes away. We were able to get in the water, but the oceans were still on the cool side for us!! All in all, it was a fantastic trip, and we loved every bit of it! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend either the cottage, the owners, or the Province of Nova Scotia as a fabulous vacation spot. FABULOUS LOCATION, HOSTS, AND PROPERTY

I loved staying at this cottage. It was fully equipped . Not only was there a large assortment of cooking items, but spices, oils, paper towels,toilet paper, and even a multitude of toiletries in the bathroom. The house was spotless, great linens, and everything one could want. I stayed for a month and the owners could not have been more kind and thoughtful. I did everything from kayaking to concerts every night. So much to do in the area. Something for everyone.

Awesome Experience, Awesome Management

The cabin was better than expected-great location, well decorated and appointed. The real gem though was Sally, the manager. She was a font of information both at our introductory meeting but continuously after with great emails keeping us abreast of all local events, kayaking locations, restaurants, etc. Any time we contacted her her response time could be counted in minutes. If you want a carefree and relaxing vacation, this is the place to rent.

In 2006 we were finally able to move permanently to Nova Scotia after years of visiting. We love it here and love to share the beauty of our province with visitors. We take great pleasure in maintaining a clean, comfy, convenient cottage - the kind of place we ourselves would be delighted to find on our travels. A retired Museum Educator, I am also an artist. This place and its people are a tremendous source of comfort and inspiration for me.

Why they chose this property

Second Wind is on the ocean, with beautiful views. It is quiet and private with a pleasant outdoor area that borders on a little brook that feeds into the ocean. The neighbourhood is mainly full- time residents and they welcome our visitors warmly. Just 500 meters along the road there is a community boules court (there is a boules set at the cottage). You can easily launch a kayak and paddle along the coast and up Martin's River. There are countless nearby attractions, towns, beaches, hiking/biking trails and coastal drives - it is a wonderful spot to stay awhile!

What makes this property unique

a wonderful spot to relax and a great location from which to make day trips along the South Shore, up to The Bay of Fundy or in to Halifax.
