About this property
GORGEOUS LAKEFRONT - Autumn Splendor - Private Setting - 5 Mins to Okemo!
This is the perfect location for a fabulous summer or fall vacation (winter's amazing, too!) Wake up to the peaceful beauty of the lake, then spend your day swimming, fishing or kayaking right from the dock, with 300' of waterfront.
If you love to cook, the kitchen is well appointed so you can whip up something wonderful. Otherwise, eat at one of the fabulous restaurants downtown or just grab a pizza! Play games, watch movies or roast marshmallows over the firepit...All the simple pleasures!
My slogan is "keep it simple". When you arrive, beds are made with crisp, clean linens and fresh towels are stacked in the bathroom. (In the winter, each bed also has a big, fluffy comforter.) Just show up! My house fairies will be sure everything is neat and clean when you arrive and after you leave. No fuss. No stress. I want you to relax and enjoy!
This spacious lakefront cottage has everything you need to create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. With 3 floors of living space, there is plenty of room for everyone to have privacy, but then gather together for meals or to share stories of the day's adventures. And for couples or smaller families who don't need or want the sprawl, everything you need is right on the main living floor, giving it that comfortable, cozy cottage feel.
Fresh bath and bed linens are provided for each guest and beds have new, comfortable mattresses and pillows. The kitchen has a microwave and dishwasher and K-cup coffee maker. There is also a washer and dryer available if you need it.
In the summer, the 1+ acre yard with horseshoe pits, volleyball net, huge deck & 2 fire pits make entertaining a breeze! Swim, kayak and fish right off the new dock in the deep, clear water.
The large deck has an umbrella table and chairs and a Weber gas grill. Stairs off one side lead to a side yard with a shed that holds the yard and water toys, extra chairs, etc. The large fire pit is also on that side, with views of the lake. Stairs off the other side lead to the larger yard where you'll find the horseshoe pits, volley ball net and a wide path gently sloping down to the waterfront. There's a brand new dock and two kayaks - one double and one single - as well as a canoe. Paddles and life preservers are in the shed.
Lake Pauline is peaceful and quiet, but Lake Rescue is directly behind us and allows power boats. The boat ramp is 1/2 mile down the road. The best of both worlds!!
In the winter, ice skate, snowmobile (VAST trails) or snowshoe right from the front door. Okemo is 5 minutes (Jackson Gore is even less!), Killington is 25 minutes and Pico is about 30 minutes away. In the evening, gather for a meal, games or a movie. A large, see through fireplace adds warmth and charm to both living room and kitchen/dining room!
In the fall, grab a blanket and a cup of coffee and head out to the Adirondack chairs to watch the mist rise off the lake and listen to the geese fly overhead.
The main floor has a bedroom with double bed and a bedroom with a twin. The bathroom on this floor is very large and has a bath tub (there are also safety rails in this bathroom by tub and toilet, if you have guests who need some extra support).
Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with king bed and small full bath. A second bedroom has a queen bed and two twins. Both bedrooms have skylights and French balconies.
The lower level suite has an additional living area and full bath. There is a couch, TV and stereo and a second room with a daybed with trundle and large game table. (Note: Since this area does not have proper egress, it cannot be used as a bedroom.)
Buttermilk Falls is a popular swimming and picnic spot throughout the summer and fall. Deep, cool pools are at the base of each of 3 sets of falls, cascading down through the woods. They are only 2 miles away and can be reached by car or bike.
The town of Ludlow has a variety of interesting shops, great restaurants and you can't beat the Jackson Gore Adventure Park when the kids need some excitement. They also hold a free concert every Friday night in the summer that is always fun!
I love my 'cottage' and this area and feel so fortunate to have such a beautiful, spacious spot on the lake. I am happy to share it with others who are looking to refresh, reconnect & renew. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

About the host
Hosted by Bernie Bolton

I reside in CT and have always wanted to live on a lake. Finding this house in Ludlow - an area I love! - was pure fate!
I have done home exchanges in the past and really enjoyed the experience. I love sharing what brings me joy and I trust people to treat it as though it were their own.
I have 2 grown children and Golden Retriever rescue named Gracie. Pets are generally not allowed, but trained, well-behaved pets will be considered since I know they are part of your family, too.

Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Ludlow 20 years ago and fall in love all over again each time I drive into town. It has everything anyone could want -- interesting shops featuring talented artists; world-class golf; sensational skiing; beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls; friendly people and breathtaking views all around.
Burlington is a good day trip and Manchester, Woodstock, Rutland, Bennington & Lake George are all within an hour's drive. But honestly? You won't leave Ludlow! :)

What makes this property unique
I've just recently purchased this home and want to create a "cottage" experience. I do not want a home to be featured on 'Cribs' -- I want a home where you walk in and feel at peace. Like perhaps you've stepped back in time a bit to a simpler life at a slower pace.
Yes, there is wifi and cable TV and Bose surround sound & a dishwasher. If you need them. But there are also kayaks and fishing poles and jigsaw puzzles and a squeaky screen door. So I encourage you to unplug and enjoy life's simple pleasures.
