From a long-time renter's perspective:

I've been visiting Sapphire Beach for nearly 20 years, making it my go-to destination for guaranteed good weather and fun. I've mostly stayed in one of the Parkes' condos, either beachfront or overlooking the harbor—a short, pleasant walk from the beach. The condos are beautifully furnished with tasteful island décor, thanks to Barbara, the co-hostess. The kitchen, baths, and master suite are exceptional, and there's ample space with two separate sleep sofas if needed.

The beach itself boasts clean, white sand and offers an expansive view of the bay, ships passing by, and St. John just a short ferry ride away—perfect for shopping, snorkeling, and dining adventures. Sapphire Beach is also ideal for snorkeling, with a convenient sport hut providing gear and fish food. You can relax under the shade trees or on chaises by the water at Banana Cabana, or enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool nestled between the beach and harbor.

One of the highlights for me has been the day sail and fishing adventures departing from the local harbor. Whether on a small boat or a larger vessel, the experiences have always been enjoyable, complete with onboard meals and drinks. Some trips even venture to the British Virgin Islands to visit places like the Baths on Virgin Gorda or the famous Soggy Dollar bar.

This completely renovated, 1100 square foot, 2-story corner unit in Building B features wrap-around balconies on each floor. Just 50 feet from the best swimming spot at Sapphire Beach, the condo offers spectacular views from its private balconies, including St. John, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, Hans Lollick, and several cays—all highlighted by the crystal-clear sapphire blue water.

The lower floor includes a full kitchen with a convection microwave oven, a sitting area, bar, flat-screen TV, queen sleeper sofa, and a full bath. Upstairs, the wood cathedral ceilings complement a new king-size bed, TV, sitting area with a queen-size sleeper sofa, desk, and another full bath.

Central air conditioning, cable, ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, and access to a nearby multi-level pool add to the comfort and convenience. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, and towels are provided.

Sapphire Beach Marina offers day cruises including snorkeling excursions, trips to the BVI, and deep-sea fishing adventures. Whether you prefer powerboats, sailboats, jet skis, or parasailing, there's something for everyone.

Nearby restaurants cater to every taste—from Italian and Mexican cuisine to fresh seafood and local favorites. Marina Market in Red Hook provides convenient shopping, while The Food Center offers a wider selection further down the road.

And if you prefer not to leave the beach, there's a a coffee shop, pizza place and a bar right on the sand!

The host was very attentive! The check-in directions were clear and it was easy to get into the unit. Great views!The bed was a little hard so I do suggest bringing a soft, small pillow to add a bit more comfort. Otherwise, the stay was amazing, and would definitely book again!

Great family beach vacation

Wonderful stay

Fantastic stay. Thank you!! Perfect amount of space for the 4 of us - two teens had enough space of their own. Home was well equipped- a few things a little less than perfect so if you want everything meticulous this may not be your rental. But for us we are able to overlook a ripped chair and lack of cheese grater in place of the perfect amount of space, gorgeous view and everything else this place had to offer. The bar and pizza place were our go to places for dinner. Great coffee shop. Wonderful wonderful vacation.

Dreamy vacation spot with best snorkeling

This property has all you need for an awesome vacation. Snorkeling was superb. Unit was as described. Two-story corner balcony is wonderful. We are at the resort almost every night of our stay because the food and drinks were so great. Also the Beach Buzz cafe for breakfast every morning was top notch. Fast and affordable and best iced coffee. Unit had everything we needed! Great host and good communication!

One of the most beaches in the world

Need to spiff up parking areas and turn under tennis courts and plant grass . 1st impression of property is depressing and doesn’t do this great beach justice. Room very clean and upgraded kitchen great. Need more hot water as coming off beach most people want hot and adequate length of hot shower. Corner room beautiful views of magnificent beach and distant cays and Islands. Finally quality bar and food and nice shop at beach. shower.

Fabulous Location

The property was wonderful, right on the beach. Great view of the beach and turquoise water. The listing showed a grill but there wasn't one there. We stayed two weeks. The second week at 8am the sound of Jack hammer woke us up. The Jack hammering went on for five days. It was unbearable in the condo and on both terraces. I had difficulty contacting the owner and did not receive a call back. Communication was through messaging on VRBO. I asked for consideration on the fee due to half the stay being sub par. I did not get any response to that message.

Family Wedding

Nice location for our 7 nights. Easy access to restaurants, beach, pool. Endless beach towels provided. Housekeeping service was arranged by the owner halfway thru our stay, which I was told when I called Housekeeping to request fresh towels mid-stay. I was informed that they would be freshing up the condo, so we removed our personal belongings off the floors and tables. Unfortunately, except for the fresh towels, the owner paid for a service, for us as guests, that was not delivered. Some other issues to be addressed: Refrigerator never dropped below 40 degrees....to preserve food, we rotated various items to the freezer. Dishwasher leaked. Upstairs toilet flushed most of the time; we think probably water pressure issues were to blame. Despite these household hiccups, we enjoyed our time at Sapphire Beach.

Communication Nightmare

We booked this property way back in August 2024 for a reservation on April 23-26, 2025. We made the down payment in AUG during our booking with the second/final payment due in MAR 2025. In FEB 2025 we received an email notifying us that our reservation had been cancelled due to not making the final payment.....which was not even due until MAR! I contacted the owner and was advised to just rebook the property again, which I promptly did. I received a refund for the original down payment and resubmitted a new down payment. Upon reviewing the new charges, I realized the price was increased from the original booking which should have never been cancelled in the first place. I inquired about the price increase and was informed they had not increased it, bot the math showed we were now going to be paying approximately 125 more than the original booking. This is when the communication really became horrendous. I sent multiple messages through the VRBO and made at least three phone calls with detailed voice messages to the listed contact to which I never received a call back! The messages they sent via VRBO were insistent that the price had not changed and that I should take it up with VRBO. I found that quite insulting as I am the customer and it would seem they would inquire with VRBO to try to determine the price discrepancy. After total frustration, I paid the INCREASED final payment on schedule.

Best location!

Ithink this condo may be the best unit in the complex, close enough to the beach, restaurants, and office, and far enough from the bar to be quiet most of the time. Views from the balcony are spectacular. You will climb a flight and a half of stairs to enter. The living area is on the first floor, with the bedroom upstairs. The furniture is comfortable and tropical and the appliances are nice (with the exception of the Keurig, which didn't work, but the owner has been notified). The office is in the next building over, and is open 10-10. They provide snorkels and beach towels. We did a lot of snorkeling, and it is really amazing! Saw MANY different kinds of fish right there at our own beach. There was some sargassum seaweed, which turned out to be a good thing because it seems to attract fish! It pretty much stays on the bottom, so you can float over it and watch the fish. We tried Magans Bay and Lynquist Beach, but we really preferred the beach right there in front of the condo. There are 3 restaurants on-site. One is a coffee/snack/ice cream shop, one has sandwiches and pizza, and the other is a high-end dinner restaurant, which has fabulous food but is pricey. Also, the town of Red Hook is very close and has many restaurants. We especially liked Agave (Mexican food). There is a large grocery store there (warning... prices are ridiculous) Advice: bring soap. The bars they provide are inadequate.

Condo in a great location

We stayed here for 3 nights as a family: my husband & I, & our 4 children (ages 15, 12, 8, 3). I'll start with the positives: The location of this villa is wonderful! The view is much more beautiful than the pictures capture! We were able to walk right down to the beach (barefooted if we wanted) from the condo. The convenience of that is SO amazing! The beach is beautiful & the snorkeling is great! The condo was clean and had clean towels. Next, the negatives: Upon our arrival, it was late (11:00pm), it was dark, & we hard a hard time locating the check-in area. Our notes said that it would be clearly marked, but it's not. We couldn't get wifi & the front office said they didn't know the password. We ended up texting the owners daughter (Tiffini) & she did text us right back with the password. It would have been better if it was printed & placed somewhere that is easily noticed. This is an old condo, & it could use some TLC. The tap water ran brownish from time to time, not sure why. We opened the sliding screen door, & the whole thing fell off the track. (The next day we told the front desk about it, & they said they would take care of it --- they never did) The water in the main floor shower constantly changed from hot to cold when we used it (we didn't use the upstairs shower). Also, the pull out beds are inflatable mattresses (never seen that before). We didn't know that they were inflatable until we discovered it on the second night. Some of the dishes were not clean, so we chose to wash everything before we used it. The master bath toilet seat was not fastened on securely. Many of these things could easily be fixed with just some time & attention, & I would also suggest the owner make an instruction page & place it visibly in the house with a few of these things on it - that would easily correct some of the other problems. The walls are thin & do not muffle noise well at all, (We could hear the people next to us, early into the morning hours). I want to say that overall, we did enjoy the 3 days that we stayed here. Again, the location was terrific & we spent most all of our time outside at the beach, or enjoying the views from the deck. The condo was just "fair" for our liking. It was older than we had expected & it definitely could use attention to the maintenance & upkeep. The owners daughter (Tiffani) is great & gave us some good suggestions & recommendations.

Perfect location!

This was such a great property, with plenty of space and amenities. The view from the TWO balconies was amazing! We loved sitting out at night and seeing the lights of St. John, with nothing but the sound of the waves to listen to. It's just a 4 minute drive into Red Hook, where there are lots of restaurants, as well as the ferry to St. John. The beach bar right on the resort was great, with great food! I highly recommend staying here!

Beautiful Views, Spacious Condo

Pros and Cons of Staying here: Pros- 2 story condo, roomy enough for a family of 4-6 Beautiful views from both large decks Provided snorkel gear upon arrival- great snorkeling right off the beach. Saw many cool fish. Condo is located right on the beach and close to the swimming pool too. Pool is very nice. Views of St John from the pool area. There is a beach bar that serves food and beverages as well as a coffee shop on site. The coffee shop is only open until early afternoon. Food was good- burgers, fish tacos and breakfast sandwiches were all tasty. The coffee shop also sells souvenirs, pool floats, toiletries, etc. Cons- Poor communication with property manager. During the booking process I was charged an “extra guest fee” even though there were only 4 of us staying there. I tried to contact the property manager to ask about the fee but got no response. I paid the fee so that it didn’t hold up or negate our reservation. Also when we got there we noticed that the second floor bathroom sink was not working properly. The water was literally trickling out of the faucet. No pressure at all. Tried to contact the property manager again to notify them, but got no response. We had to use the downstairs bathroom sink. The resort is in some degree of disrepair- tennis courts are not operational and the pool area bar is closed and boarded up. This is most likely due to the hurricane damage from 2017. The beach itself is small. There is a lot of seaweed and rocks when trying to get in the water. The resort maintenance crew work very hard trying to clear the seaweed. These issues did not detract from our enjoyment though. Overall I would recommend staying here. There aren’t many beach front condos on the island and Sapphire beach is quite lovely. There are lots of big iguanas all over the beach area. I actually enjoyed their company! Also lots of chickens and roosters.

Unit was very clean and in a great location. Everything needed was included. Issue with no hot water was solved very quickly. Would recommend providing for a more substantial small cooler for use. We enjoyed our stay.

30th anniversary

Great place! Loves the corner location! Bed was super comfy! Only thing I would add were more games to play. We love to relax and play games at night, such as Quiddler or RimmyCube. Bought Uno and left it there for others to enjoy. Would definitely recommend! Love to come back next year!

No need to leave!

Literally zero need to leave the property if you’re not a night life person! Has an awesome coffee shop, AMAZING pizza shop, burgers, hotdogs, fish tacos, two bars and there will be a rooftop restaurant soon! We WILL be coming back to St. Thomas and WILL be staying at this location again! Views from this condo and perfection. A little outdated with decor compared to other rentals, but did not bother us at all! We did not use the pool at all, but will say it was GORGEOUS in location and layout. The only reason we didn’t use it was because the bar looked closed down. Love that snorkel gear was supplied! The staff was all super nice and helpful!! I can not say enough about how great it was. Thank you so much!!

All That We Could Ask For

This property was all that we could want! The views truly were incredible, the property was clean and spacious, and the location was perfect- directly on the beach with the resort style pool right there too. The sofa bed was not the most comfortable, the king size bed had plenty of room for the three of us. We loved our time on St Thomas and can’t wait to return!

Perfect getaway in the best location!

This place is awesome. The condo unit is situated on the end so it has a wrap around porch so close to the beach you can touch it. 2 levels gives it extra space to make it even better. Good restaurants 5 mins away. We will definitely come back and wld recommend this location to anyone!

I am an electrical contractor for a firm in upper state New York and so enjoy the warmth of St. Thomas during the very cold New York winters. My family and I have lived here part-time for 30 years, relishing the contrast between the two climates.

Why they chose this property

Our daughter, a nurse registered in 48 states, suffered from severe asthma, and found the Caribbean air easier to breathe. We bought the condo for her to live in while working at the US Virgin Islands Hospital. Sadly, just before her move to USVI, she had an asthma attack that took her life at the age of 32. In her memory, our whole family decided to keep the place and enjoy the area she loved.
