About the Bay There’s no restriction against swimming in the bay. That said, whether it feels “swimmable” really comes down to personal comfort and conditions.
The bay has a rocky bottom rather than soft sand, and the tide changes significantly — at low tide you can see much of the bottom, while at high tide the water can be quite deep. Entry is from a rocky edge, so there isn’t a gradual or sandy walk-in, and getting in and out can take a bit of care.
Another big factor is water temperature. Even in the warmest summer months, the water tends to stay quite cold compared to lakes or ocean beaches, which can be a surprise if you’re not used to Maine coastal water.
You’re welcome to give it a try if you’re comfortable with those conditions, but we always recommend using good judgment and being mindful of footing, tides, and temperature.
Guests have full access to the entire property.

The cabin is located in a private and gated community. We will provide you with a code to enter through the gate. The cabin is located at the end of a long and windy dirt/gravel road. You are free to park anywhere however if you do not have all wheel drive and have concerns we recommend parking on the left in the parking spot instead of driving right up to the cabin. The dirt is a little looser closer to the cabin and is also slightly slanted so to avoid getting stuck its best to park on the left a little further back. Please be aware the edge of the driveway is steep and if you mis-judge it your car will get stuck. The stair case to the loft is a bit of a tight squeeze and you will have to bend your head down in order to walk up. We do not have a dishwasher and while we are located ocean front its not really possible to access the water from our property. There is a community dock for this. The cabin is located in a private and gated community. About 5 mins before getting to the cabin there is a gate. The gate has a backlit keypad found on the left-hand side of the road and the code to enter is 81322#. On October 1st, the gate code will be changed to 8826# and the old code will be disabled.

We had an excellent stay at the Blue A-frame. It is a very unique property with an outstanding location. The house was clean and well stocked with all the essentials that we would need. We used the kitchen each day for breakfast and dinner. The bed was very comfortable as well.
We had a wonderful few days at the a-frame. The property was well maintained and Joel was a great host. The hot tub, twinkle lights and quiet made for a special stay. We were happy to be able to bring one of our dogs and he really enjoyed his time too! The gated community on the coast of Maine felt very secluded and cozy. Would recommend!
