We LOVE long term stays!!!! We also really WANT to accommodate the weary traveler who needs accommodations for one night, but that is very expensive for us so there is a $50 surcharge) This country craftsman schoolhouse has 4 renovated 750 Sq. ft classroom lofts, each with it's own private back entrance. I guess there's no need to tout the perks of this place, being in a park setting, totally removed from any living soul with acres and acres to stroll and explore. it's a 7 minute stroll to Warren st through the cemetery short cut!!

The quirky, comfortable rooms at the Cemetery Schoolhouse were well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect for strolls in the historic cemetery and a quick walk away from downtown Hudson.
This was the absolute perfect place for my husband and I!! We’re not your average cookie cutter hotel type of people. We love history, art and vintage style. This property has so much character and we felt right at home! We also enjoyed brief visits with Laura and her cockatiels, who were very entertaining. The location is a little set off from town, which is kinda nice, but still walking distance. We have friends in the area so we definitely plan to stay here again and again!!
Unique Property That's Perfect for a Weekend Getaway
My girlfriend and I were looking to get away from NYC for a weekend, so we explored a number of Hudson Valley towns before choosing to stay in Hudson. When we saw the listing for a converted schoolhouse, where each room had its own character, we knew we found the right location. Laura, the property manager, was so friendly and an incredible personality who was willing to offer any suggestions for the weekend. Only a 5 minute drive into town, which was ideal for going back and forth.
Laura was easy to deal with and always helpful. The property is a circa 1900 schoolhouse that’s been converted into 4 lofts. I wanted to be closer to hiking and orchards. This was perfect. The bed is super comfy. The AC cools the place well. No problems with WiFi. Town is a just a walk over the hill (which i loved). Cool old cemetery across the street with graves of civil war and revolutionary war veterans. I enjoyed my stay.
This is a great location to visit Hudson NY and the surrounding area. It is an artistic joy, colorful and inviting. This is a one off experience staying with Laurie

Who would not want to stay in the middle of a cemetery?
This wonderful old schoolhouse literally in the middle of the cemetery is just a delight. Laura Jacobs the proprietor is an engaging artist who has put her heart and soul into this building and given it new life! There a four spaces you can choose from and all have their charms. Color and artwork abound. All the amenities you would want are present. All the spaces have their own special feel. We stayed in the unique Mad Hatter's Lounge located in the basement of the schoolhouse. The Hatter would be at home here. The old coal room in the basement has been converted to a television extra sleeping space. The cool metal doors make it look like you are entering a castle dungeon. The main sleeping space is bold and bright with a fabulous brass bed as an anchor. The bathroom is not to be missed as it is adorned with Laura's artist touch. A beautiful glass wall mosaic is adorned with three dimensional objects, as is the shower. Alice would be right at home in this space through the looking glass. So with all of this beauty, the serene setting of the cemetery, the affordable cost and close proximity to the town of Hudson NY (You can walk to the downtown in less than 10 minutes) this is the perfect spot for your visit to the area. This is just another place that makes staying in the Hudson Valley such a treat. Oh and I cannot leave out Laura's charming Cockatiel, Tico who is more than happy to greet visitors! Thank you Laura we will be back!

stylish studio
Laura is welcoming, warm, considerate, and interesting. Her art decorates the studio walls (as does the art of her partner) to create a chic vibe. Each studio has its own color scheme. Ours was purple (even the tissue boxes were purple) and we might have been in Prince's guest room. The room was very comfortable-- we kept one window open, never used the air conditioner (in August), and never closed the drapes, as the only folks who could peek in were the ghosts in the cemetery. Laura had condiments in the fridge and shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Each morning she left pastries outside our door. My wife and I were comfortable, and our 11-year-old, especially, enjoyed getting to know and to feed Laura's gorgeous white cockatiel. My wife ran in the cemetery each day. There's a TV if you want to check the news. It's an easy walk to the shops and restaurants on Warren Street. We'll stay with Laura again when we return.

About the host
Hosted by laura jacobs
I'm an artist and I use one of the 4 classrooms as my studio, so I'll be around to help out or answer any questions. My partner and I use the other upstairs classroom as our apartment in the summer and early fall.
Why they chose this property
Bought in the 90's by Artist & NYC Art Dealer Robert Pardo as an experimental Museum, Exhibition & Studio Space, it has hosted many Artists in Residence & provided them alternative live work space over the years. It has served as muse to many creatives and the Cemetery Park setting is magnificent
What makes this property unique
Please keep in mind that this listing is the very essence of the uniqueness that defines Airbnb. It is an old building with all that implies. Built in 1900 it was a school for 50 to 60 years, then a Tool Factory. It retains its original charm even with the additions of kitchen and bathroom to each "classroom". This place is not advised for those looking for a generic & steril hotel room type stay! It's old with many rough edges, ... artists have lived here!! and spiders conspire while I sleep, as to wear they will spin their next web just to piss me off. So please be ready to cope with idiosyncrasies of a Century old building that has survived floods, 117 winters, paint splatterings and the less than kind ravages of time! This listing can accommodate 4, if two are sharing the King bed, the other accommodations are a fold out sofa and an air mattress
