Great location, perfectly in between Ouray and Ridgeway. Great house for 16 couples or families. Great kitchen supplies and bathroom amenities. Host was very responsive, replenished everything we needed. Our family loved the property. The only thing that keeps me from giving a perfect review is that there was zero ice in any of the refrigerators and the 2 ice makers were not working. If we would have known to bring ice this would not have been an issue. 2ndly one of the beds may have had sheets that were previously used as there was some kind of glitter all over them and we had to wash them. Overall was fantastic and would stay there again.
What a wonderful place to stay! I was with a group of 18, plus a baby, and it never felt crowded. There was plenty of space for everyone during meal times and when we played board games. The host was great with providing extra bedding for an air mattress that we brought, and a high chair & play pen for the baby so we didn't have to travel with it. Overall, my group loved the place!
Wonderful, large and spacious home to accommodate our group for the week. We we’re especially impressed with the attention to detail with all the amenities.
Excellent property, highly recommend to anyone. I stayed there twice and likely to come back again. There is nothing better in the area for a large party.
This house was perfect for our family coming from all over Colorado to get together for a girls weekend. The house was big enough to spread out when we wanted to but perfect for coming together as well.
We rented this home for our extended family to stay in during our vacation in Ouray and surrounding towns. The house is beautiful and spacious. All of our family members were very happy with our stay. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. An added plus is that the home owner provides plenty of essentials for you (toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwashing detergent, etc.)! Ashley was incredibly responsive to my questions. We loved that we could get all 13 members of our party around the dining room table. Thank your for your hospitality and for sharing your home!
We rented this home and the guest house for our family to stay in during our intimate wedding and it was perfect!! The house was so clean and beautiful. There was plenty of room for everyone to stay and the dining room was wonderful for big family meals. The property manager was also incredibly responsive. We had a wonderful stay!
We loved our stay at Cutler Creek. Very spacious and accommodating for the 13 of us. Beautiful
views from all sides and lots of deer, turkeys, chipmunks and stellar jays. We would love to stay again! Thank you!

This beautiful, spacious home was beyond our expectations and our family & friends were very happy with our stay. The home was accommodating to all of our guests, from the well equipped kitchen to the added toiletries that made it so convenient. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we definitely look forward to visiting again!
The house was absolutely amazing! There were 16 of us staying in the home and we never felt like we were running into one another and had a lot of space to stretch out and relax. The outdoor fire pit was a great break nightly and we absolutely loved this home! This was by far one of the cleanest homes we have ever rented! We hope to stay here again in the future!
The grounds are awesome! The house is awesome! We were able to have family and friends of 18-20. We had privacy in rooms and plenty of space for gatherings. This is a fabulous property for a large group. The management was wonderful. The location was private yet close to any things. Beautiful area! We will definitely come again. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
Several of us gathered to attend a wedding in ridgway. This space was perfect for people coming and going. The kitchen is set for many people - dishes, pots and pans, and large table for eating. Had fun at the game table plus breakfast on the deck. We had ages 25-95 and all went well.

FANSTASTIC!!
The house was perfect, we loved it. We would like to have more fans in the bedrooms, it was uncomfortable at nights. We also needed lights in the patio, we all like to cook outside. You have a beautiful place.

Thanks so much for your helpful review. We have added some more fans, so there should be plenty to move around to the rooms that need them. Luckily, warm nights are few and far between in the mountains. I have also asked our cleaning crew to be extra diligent about replacing light bulbs outside and we will also see about adding some additional lights out on the deck for grilling.

Outstanding!
We have a group of 10 that never experienced this level of luxury on our annual guy trip. Everybody had their own room. There are spacious common areas and plenty of bathrooms. The property is 10 minutes from Ouray with its restaurants, hot springs and of course the ice park. Telluride is about an hour away for skiing. Whale of a time!

About the host
Hosted by Laura Benton
Mountain Adventure Retreats was founded on a deep-rooted passion for the San Juan Mountains and a shared commitment to excellence in hospitality and property care. The venture began in 2013, sparked by Laura’s long-standing love for Ouray County. A lifelong Coloradan who first discovered the Ridgway and Ouray area in 2001, Laura brought with her an extensive background in business, marketing, and travel management. Her years of experience in the ski and property management industries across North America’s premier destinations provided the foundation for a company built on community and exceptional service.
In 2020, the team expanded when Steve moved from Dallas to join Laura in Ouray County. Steve’s arrival marked the beginning of a new chapter for the company, bringing forty-three years of high-level construction management experience to the team. Having served as Vice President for some of the nation’s top General Contractors, he integrated professional expertise in budgeting, procurement, and project oversight into the company’s property maintenance and caretaking operations. His own connection to the state dates back to 1993, when participating in Ride the Rockies ignited a lifelong passion for Colorado’s dramatic landscapes.
Today, Laura and Steve work side-by-side to lead a dedicated team of professionals focused on delivering top-tier property care. When they aren't overseeing the finer details of a guest's stay or maintaining local residences, they are often found embracing the outdoors together. Whether they are cycling, skiing, hiking, or fishing, they remain inspired by the ever-changing seasons and the rugged beauty of the San Juan Mountains.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location to offer family-friendly, superior accommodations because it is truly our favorite place on earth! Centrally located in the heart of the San Juans, you are within a short, scenic drive of Colorado’s most iconic mountain towns: Ouray, Telluride, Montrose, and Silverton. Each offers its own quaint charm, historic Main Streets, and endless local treasures for travelers to discover. No matter which direction you head, you are surrounded by the jagged, spectacular scenery that earned this region the title "Switzerland of America."
Explore the Magic of Cutler Creek
Just moments away lies the Cutler Creek area, a hidden gem offering a more peaceful, intimate mountain experience. Here, you can immerse yourself in:
Breathtaking Vistas: The Cutler Creek Trail winds through lush aspen groves and wide-open meadows, rewarding you with staggering views of Mount Sneffels, Wetterhorn Peak, and Uncompahgre Peak.
Secluded Nature: While the popular trails near town can get busy, Cutler Creek offers a quieter escape into the Uncompahgre Wilderness, where you might spot elk or deer amidst the dense forest canopy.
Adventures for Everyone: From a gentle 1.3-mile stroll to the picturesque wooden footbridge (perfect for families!) to rugged, high-altitude treks reaching over 11,000 feet, there is a path for every skill level.
Epic Jeeping: Located right off County Road 14A, you are perfectly positioned to access legendary 4x4 trails. Whether you are seeking a smooth dirt road with stunning overlooks or a rocky climb toward the Baldy Ridge, the alpine adventure starts the moment you leave the driveway.
After a day of hiking or jeeping, head into Ouray to soak in the world-famous Hot Springs or grab a local craft beer. Here, the best of the Colorado Rockies is right at your doorstep.
What makes this property unique
Cutler Creek winds through this beautifully landscaped estate, offering the gentle soundtrack of running water. Flowing seasonally, fueled by the annual snowmelt from the surrounding peaks, the creek provides an authentic connection to the natural cycles of the San Juan Mountains. With expansive, manicured grounds, there is boundless room for guests of all ages to roam, explore, and play safely within the privacy of the property. This magnificent home and its singular setting create an atmosphere of total seclusion, certain to entice you back for years to come.
A Distinctive Mountain Retreat
While many properties in the region offer mountain views, this estate is defined by a level of space and natural beauty that is rare for the area.
Seasonal Snowmelt Creek: The presence of Cutler Creek offers a dynamic alpine experience. As the high-altitude snow melts in the spring and early summer, the backyard is transformed into a lush, private meadow retreat.
Expansive Private Landscaping: Unlike standard mountain lodges situated on rugged or unmanaged terrain, this estate features sprawling, professionally landscaped gardens that prioritize both elegance and outdoor recreation.
A Sanctuary for Families: The grounds are specifically designed to provide a secure environment where children can explore the outdoors freely, offering a level of peace and safety that is difficult to find in more central or high-traffic locations.
The Gateway to the San Juans: Perfectly positioned between the conveniences of Montrose and the historic charm of Ouray, the estate serves as a quiet sanctuary while remaining minutes away from world-class hot springs and mountain adventures.
