Great location, walking distance to the fairgrounds, well appointed home, great house for our family. Large great room with windows to view the amazing property . The best outdoor shower I’ve ever been in.
We had such a wonderful stay at this house! The layout was perfect — all the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable for our whole group. We especially loved the bright, open living space and the kitchen, which made gathering together so easy. The house was clean and full of natural light. The back deck with its patio seating was the perfect spot for an early morning coffee, and the large open field was great for a soccer game with our group. Plus, the hot tub was an amazing bonus. It was so much fun after a long day!We truly enjoyed every part of our stay and would absolutely love to come back again!

Disliked: Listing accuracy
While the hosts did their best to communicate and accommodate our needs, the home wasn’t ready to be rented. We had issues with AC unfortunately during a very hot week during August. A couple of rooms either didn’t have AC or AC wasn’t working properly. We couldn’t stay in rooms in basement because of strong oder. We had sanitation concerns with bed linens and bath rooms. One of the toilet seat covers was padded and shower lining was stained. Water in bathrooms sinks and shower has rust smell. The couch was comfortable; the kitchen was big and accommodating for our group. The patio was great to look up at stars at night however the cushions weren’t properly cleaned so we had to use beach towels in order to sit on patio furniture.

Thank you for your feedback, Frances. We’re sorry that our home did not meet your expectations. We were surprised to read that you felt the home was not ready to be rented, particularly given the extensive communication throughout your stay and our efforts to address each concern as it was raised.
For clarification for future guests, our home has air-conditioning units in every bedroom as well as the main living area. The upstairs bunk room does not, due to the way the window opens. During Frances’s stay, one unit was reported as not having been installed during an unusually hot August week, and we responded immediately to install the unit.
We were also concerned to read the comments regarding cleanliness, as our home is professionally cleaned between guests, and all bed linens and duvet covers had been freshly laundered immediately prior to this stay. When additional linens, washcloths, pillows, box fans, and air conditioning units were requested, we did our best to accommodate those requests promptly.
As Frances noted, there was a musty odor in the basement during an exceptionally hot and humid stretch of summer weather. Martha’s Vineyard can be extremely humid in August, and while we continuously run a dehumidifier, we are already taking additional steps to address this. For context, the basement was occupied by 6 guests the week prior with no issues reported.
The Field House is our much-loved family home, not a hotel, and we work very hard to make it comfortable, clean, and welcoming for the families who stay here. We understand that every guest has different expectations, and unfortunately, despite our best efforts throughout this stay, it became clear that our home was not the right fit for this particular group. We wish Frances and her family all the best.

What makes this property unique
As you take in the serene view from the back deck, you'll notice the charming barn across the way. Originally built as a horse barn, it was later transformed into a cozy living space by its previous owners. When Bob and Dianthe Eisendrath purchased the property in 1965, they lovingly renovated the barn even further, creating a cherished summer retreat where their children grew up experiencing the magic of Martha’s Vineyard.
Now, as the next generation, we are delighted to share our family home with you. This island offers endless opportunities for adventure, relaxation, and quiet moments of reflection. We hope you spend your week exploring its beauty, unwinding in nature, and embracing the peaceful rhythm of up-island life.
