Lovingly Updated Detached Cottage In Walkable West Seattle Neighborhood

** MUST LOVE DOGS **

Because of its location in our backyard, this listing is "hosted" by our sweet pup, Nala. Nala is a husky mix that came to our family from the Pierce County Humane Society in February 2021. As you'll see if you visit, digging holes in the backyard is one of her favorite pastimes!

Our 110-year old backyard cottage has been lovingly updated in recent years.

Although you may feel like you’re worlds away from it all when tucked inside, you will actually be just 2-1/2 blocks from the heart of of West Seattle.

Impeccably Clean: Offering a sparkling-clean space has always been a top priority for us. At this time, we are following an enhanced cleaning protocol,
which was developed in partnership with experts in health and
hospitality.

Pre-war charm meets modern convenience:

Soak in the original claw-foot tub or enjoy a steaming shower with the new on-demand hot water system.

Snuggle up with your loved one in the comfortable queen-sized bed.

Enjoy your morning coffee in the sun-drenched dining nook, or walk just a few blocks to C&P coffee - a local favorite.

Whip up gourmet meals in the large kitchen with new gas range.

Stay connected with high speed WiFi and lounge in front of the satellite TV in your down time.

The Northern Lights Cottage is the backyard cottage on this property. Easy on-street parking on 42nd Ave SW (very quiet and almost always possible to find a spot right in front of the house, one parking permit provided).

Our neighborhood, West Seattle is also home to Seattle’s finest waterfront areas: Alki Beach and Lincoln Park. Alki provides summer fun and excellent views of downtown; Lincoln Park is great for a hike in the woods or a dip in the saltwater swimming pool. We recommend riding the Elliot Bay Water Taxi from Seacrest Pier to downtown Seattle.

Cozy, comfy cottage

This 1912 cottage was very comfortable to stay in. It was perfect for relaxing and reading. Excellent bed, well-equipped kitchen, and updated bathroom all with good quality linens. Near California Street, which is chock-full of great places to eat and shop. Only saw Joe, Laura, and Nala once, but they are nice people and dog.

wonderful stay over the Christmas holidays 2022.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It’s in a quiet, pleasant neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, shops, and grocery shopping. It’s about a 25 minute bus ride into downtown Seattle with a stop just a few blocks away. The hosts were very helpful before we arrived answering any questions that we had, and were very informative about the neighbourhood etc. once we were there. Nice people, with a beautiful dog! No complaints whatsoever.

We enjoyed our stay! The cottage was comfortable and clean. Many amenities and supplies were available, which was a nice touch. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. In a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The only minor drawback was parking. A spot was always available on the block, but not always right in front of the property.

Storybook cottage

This was my first air bnb. It will probably be the one I remember the most. Very cozy, private, and altogether relaxing. It was nice to be able to wind down and hear my thoughts in peace. Great hosts!

We had a great weekend at the cottage. Great location in West Seattle just turn right when you leave the house toward the Junction. We parked the car when we arrived and walked everywhere we wanted to go. Very clean and had all the ammenities we needed. Thank you!

Amazing location, super accommodating owners.

Laura and Joe were so wonderful. We rented their cottage for my father and his dog during our wedding month. Multiple things came up within our family and they bent over backwards to help us. I really can't sing enough praise for those two. The cottage was clean and well stocked with new towels and cute decor. There is a light musty smell but it's an old cottage and it's Seattle. We're used to it-plus-it adds to the charm! The dog was comfy with the little yard and it was easily accessible to grocery stores and restaurants (3 blocks max!). Totally worth it. We would totally use this space again for overflow family if needed.

Mini home away from home

Lovely. Perfect location, hosts and neighborhood. I stayed here form a 2 month clinical rotation and I felt I was coming 'home' every evening. I will miss this sweet cottage and West Seattle. The restaurants, nightlife and coffee shops were all within walking distance. Easy access to the major roadways, and just a feeling of safety and comfort. Thank you for being such great hosts and accommodating my needs. One small thing, add a space heater to the bedroom, as it can get a bit chilly if you close the door off from the living room. Thanks for a great stay.

I love anything old so this little cottage was perfect for me. It is located in a great neighborhood and has a small yard for my small dog. Comfortable bed. Fun living area and sweet bathroom. The kitchen had everything including fun old cabinets and a cozy eating area. I will stay here again. I am sure of it.

LOVELY COTTAGE

This unique 1 bedroom cottage was very clean and in a great neighborhood. Was within walking distance of many stores and restaurants. The furnishings were comfortable and Laura and Joe left things for us like shampoo/conditioner/soap/hairdryer/snacks/coffee which were very helpful and much appreciated. Nestled behind a larger 2 story home which I found out had 2 places to rent! Would rent this property again.
