Visit to volcano

Rented two rooms for 4 adults and 1 teen. Good location able to tour Volcano and Hilo area. Quiet location. We enjoy the serenity and solitude. We have discussed returning.

First of all, the host was very helpful and gracious in checking us in. I had not replied to her latest email so there was trouble checking in. The place was charming and clean. BUT, the major issue was there was no hot water as we showered! There were 6 of us traveling all day (went to the beach) and we all wanted to shower. There was enough hot water only for the 3 of us. As I (the 4th one to shower) started washing my hair only COLD water came out! I was freezing! Next morning the host explained that only certain amount heated water is stored.We were the only the 6 people at this entire site so this shouldn’t have happened. The host apologized and we got heated water in the morning. We left early in the morning.

We truly enjoyed hosting your group! I am so incredibly sorry for the frustrating experience you had with the hot water during your showers, especially after a long day at the beach. Our property utilizes an on-demand water heater system that relies on a manual fuel supply. Unfortunately, the fuel ran out unexpectedly during your evening showers. Because I was away at a prior engagement at the time, I didn’t see your text message right away. Had you called or knocked on the door, we would have been able to handle the manual replacement immediately to get the hot water running for the rest of your group. As soon as I saw your message, I was glad we could get it sorted for your morning showers, but I completely understand how uncomfortable it was to have your evening interrupted. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve how we communicate our setup to future guests. We wish you and your group all the best in your future travels!
