Just a short walk from the beach, with water view from the crows nest! The perfect Lewes vacation rental for a large family, multiple families, or group of friends -- and is handicap-accessible (see below).

This new house (built in spring 2012, refreshed in 2023) is situated on a small, private road directly between the town of Lewes and Cape Henlopen State Park.

The house has it all, starting with location: the driveway is only steps from the sand walkway to Lewes Beach – and wash off in the outside shower before coming inside. The views are unbeatable: from the 2nd and 3rd-floor decks you can see the ocean, the state park, and for miles around. Inside the house is a beautiful great room, new kitchen, and all the amenities you could wish for (internet, TVs, etc.). It's full of toys for the kids, and books for everyone.

The house comfortably sleeps 10 – bring all your friends for an easy, relaxing week at the beach.

As of late 2023, the house also has a Peloton bike for use! (Guests bring shoes and use their own accounts.)

Also very convenient to the ferry – right around the corner!

Handicap access details: ramp into front door, 1st-floor master bathroom with roll-in shower, widened halls and doorways, and elevator to 2nd-floor deck!

Family vacation

We had a wonderful time at this property. The house was large and it was nice having the two master bedrooms. Place was great for the kids and we enjoyed the toys, books, and bikes!

Accessible in Lewes

The home was lovely and kitchen was well stocked. Best feature is if you are disabled - para or quad - this is the vacation spot for you. The downstairs master will meet all your needs. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch - we ate meals and played board games every evening there. Only problem was there appeared to be dog dander all over the house, on the couch and on bed spreads. But the maintenance staff responded immediately and vacuumed.

Loved the space and location. Walkable to Lewes Ferry. Took a roundtrip ferry ride to Cape May NJ for the afternoon. Walkable to downtown. Enjoyed the screened in porch.

Wonderful beach house for a large family!

We really enjoyed the location of this beautiful large home. Plenty of room for our 8 family members. Kitchen was well stocked, quick 3 minute walk to the beach, and a nice screened porch with a ceiling fan. Thank you for sharing your home with other families to enjoy and make memories!

A week with friends

Three couples who have been friends a very long time since college, but who now live in different parts of the country got together at the house for a rare opportunity for us all to be the same physical location. We had an excellent time. The house was very nice. It was advertised as wheelchair accessible and indeed it was. It was very easy for one of our group who was in a wheelchair to live in and use the house. Very close to beaches. The weather was quite nice. Overall, we had a terrific week.

Amazing extended family vacation

The house is more beautiful in person . We were so pleased . It was clean spacious and inviting . We celebrated my Moms birthday and she loved staying there so much she was so sad to leave. We enjoyed the area beaches restaurants bike trails and ice cream spots. We hope to come back again.

Spacious and accessible

The house was exactly as advertised. It was spacious and accessible (we have two family members who function better with some accommodations...one is elderly and the other has moderately severe arthritis). Its location between Cape Henlopen State Park and historic Lewes allowed us to not have to go into that traffic mess called Route 1. The house was nicely stocked and the owners were nice to deal with.

Great Location!

We loved the location of this property and enjoyed being able to walk the short distance to the beach. We could also easily bike to Lewes and enjoy the shops and restaurants. Note that you will need to bring your own linens, dish towels, hand towels, and bath towels. The screened in porch was a great space to relax in the mornings and evenings. We were a group of 7 adults and we comfortably fit on the couch in the living room. The dining table and patio tables were also very comfortable. The house has a little noticeable wear and tear, but it did not take away from our experience. I recommend bringing your own pillows as the pillows were quite large! The driveway can easily fit 3 sedans, and there is a garage with several bikes and beach supplies. The house is in walking distance of the Cape May Ferry. I would recommend this property for groups of adults up to 8 and for families.

Beautiful Accessible Home for our Family

The house matched the description in the post. However, we were without air conditioning for 2 1/2 days of the five we stayed. Thankfully, the service provider fixed the unit on day three and made the living conditions more comfortable. We appreciate the response of the agent in the matter. The unit is spacious and accessible for our aging parents and my disability THANK YOU! We believe in leaving a property better than what we found it. I would suggest hiring a new cleaning company. We used the sleeper sofa and noticed a great deal of sand and dog hair on the floor and underneath the couch. We used the broom and dust pan in the home to clean it up. The beautiful blinds needed cleaning too. I was happy to clean it up so that we were comfortable. The pantry was well stocked with items needed for our stay. Overall, it is a beautiful home and served our family well. We would feel comfortable staying there again.

Lovely Home!

Spacious and open floor plan was really comfortable. Allowed for us to be social while cooking indoors during inclement weather. The elevator was especially nice for a family friends inhibited mobility as was the ramp for ease in and out for same. Location for me, a dog owner x2, was convenient to the Lewes/Cape May Ferry grounds which was incredibly pet friendly. Being close to the Ferry Complex restaurant "Grain on the Rocks" welcomed my pets with water bowls and love. We were a little disappointed with the requirement to clean/sweep things that were not clean upon check in. The grill was too small for a gathering and had a lot of food debris in it from previous cookouts. The fridge & freezer were not clean and the food pantry had a ton of leftovers in it when previous properties would have clean things out. I have a maintenance background so this is a suggestion...the house needs a bit of TLC as far as faucet handle sets, toilet handles and toilet seats. Light bulbs were out in the Master bedroom area and bath. Overall we were happy and appreciated the location. Thanks to the maintenance mgmt for quick response on the one issue we called about and our Host was wonderful and offered assistance with anything we needed. We love Lewes and will be back!

Loved Lewes

This home has everything you need to enjoy a vacation beach week. Beach wagons to use was such a great help . 2 out of 4 bikes worked great . Other two were broken . Beach chairs were broken so bring your own . the house was not clean overall which was upsetting to me . My first day I spent over two hours cleaning . The living room couch was filthy . We needed to keep it covered with sheets to sit on it. The downstairs was not clean and the comforters on the bed iñthe master bedroom.was covered with stains. Soiled shower curtain too Two broken doors.no handle on inside of bedroom door.be careful if children are in there they can lock themselves in. I emailed property manager on Saturday . They got back to me on Monday and promised the cleaning people would come back , but that never happened 😩. They also promised a new grill but that never happened either. I went crazy cleaning the grill and propane tank was dead after one use . Once I got over the initial aggravation we had a wonderful time , but spent much of our time outof the house and when we were in, we stayed in the outdoor screened in deck.

Lewes beach house

My family and I lived, loved the location. The upstairs of the house was very nice with rooms and appropriate beds for our family. I disliked the bottom bedroom that was advertised as a master (handicapped) which is absolutely fine, but the room was very dark and the bathroom was missing 2 out of 3 lights, so again very dark. My family and I didn't appreciate all of the locked closets that clearly stated for owner's use only. Also there was another master bedroom and I assume bathroom that we would have loved to have been able to use as is the case with any other house that we've ever rented for our vacation. We felt very dissatisfied since we spent over $5000. for our week in August. The main room, screened in porch and kitchen area was very nice, but again ceiling fan didn't work and we went to the store to buy lights since we needed them over the table. Also, there was a broken TV in the downstairs master br, which now has a new tv that was delivered to the garage, but not installed since we didn't want to give up our afternoon of our last day on the beach. These things should be checked by maintenance crew or the owner before a new client comes in. We did enjoy our family time because we were together. The owner should have made it easier for our one and only vacation. We should have been enjoying our vacation without having to worry about things that could have been taken care of previously to our arrival.

Great family trip

My husband is in a wheelchair and this home was perfect for him and all of us. Well equipped with dishes, silverware and utensils. Bedroom furniture is older but fine. I would definitely go back. Thank you to the host for listing your home.

A perfect week

My dream this year was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with our 2 grown children, their spouses, our 20 month old granddaughter and our grandpup. Finding a home that was large enough and accommodate a dog is not always easy. This house had it all. Easy walk to the beach, all necessary kitchen supplies, comfy beds. It was wonderful. We all decided we definately want to come back next year.

Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay. The house suited our needs well and was in a great location, close to Lewes beach, and Cape Henlopen Atlantic Ocean beach. The kids enjoyed watching the ferry and riding bikes on the bike trails by the house and in the state park. The handicapped accessibility was very helpful for our grandmother who is mobility limited. She was very comfortable and was able to get around the house easily.

Nice home close to the beach

Overall it was a nice home. We enjoyed our stay and loved that it was just a short walk to the beach. Place was very clean other than under the sofa in the living room. from sitting on it, it had slid back and revealed a lot of sand and pet hair underneath. Kitchen is small for such a large house, but very functional. Pots and pans desperately need to be replaced. The teflon coating is chipping off on the frying pans to the point I would think it's a health hazard. Only other issues we noticed was a missing smoke detector in the upstairs master and the closing cylinder on the screen porch door was missing (it clearly corroded off from the salt air).

Cleanliness

Check in was 3 pm. We arrived and the house wasn’t cleaned till around 5 pm and we had to wait on the porch while they cleaned. The whole house was dirty, even after the cleaning. We spent most of the visit on the screened in porch when we were home.

Great family vacation spot

Our family had a great week at this house in Lewes. The location was very convenient to get to the town of Lewes, the beach, the ferry, and Cape Henlopen State Park. The house itself was large and comfortable for all of us, including our dog. It had all of the basics for the kitchen that we needed and some basic beach equipment that was nice to have. Be aware though - the house does not come with any linens. You will need to provide your own sheets, blankets, hand towels for the bathrooms, kitchen towels, etc. This was unexpected for us and only noticed it in the rental agreement at the last minute. Not that big a deal, but worth keeping in mind as I don't think it's typical for VRBO rentals.

Wonderful family vacation.

We had an amazing family vacation here. The house is roomy enough to fit a large family. We loved cooking here every day and the open layout was great for hanging out together. The multiple decks also were used a lot and we liked having dinner together on the covered porch. The house has nice amenities and extra beach items. We loved how close the beach is and when we wanted to go Cape Henlopen it was just a very short car ride.

Finally an accessible accommodation!

WE LOVED this house - after many years of staying many places along the shores of the east coast this is the first time we were able to be in a truly accessible home. It was a game changer for my family and my wheelchair confined sister. There was plenty of space to maneuver her chair and her lift and the ramp and elevator made all the important spaces easy to get to. As for the rest of us - we had ages from just a few months up to 71 and everyone was very comfortable and happy! We were even able to bring along the family dog which is a big source of comfort for my sister and mother also. We really enjoyed biking or running over to the state park and ocean there but spent most of our time at the beach near the house. A note for those in a wheelchair - we were able to get a beach wheelchair for use from Lewes beach each day and bring it to the house to transport my sister. The hike to the beach is doable along the path, especially the wood one past the parking lot, and those chairs roll over just about anything so it was fine but was a little challenging sometimes with the vegetation depending on which way you took. We did have a broken washer during our stay so that was a snag and it seemed like whoever was there before us kind of just threw things into cupboards and the garage and didn't care for the items much (or maybe the cleaning crew did) but I'm sure that happens with various renters in and out so we did some organizing upon arrival and the owners and property managers were notified for the future but really, it's a well-stocked house and it was a lovely stay. We hope to be back!
