Tucked away down a private dirt lane, our bungalow is light & bright with loads of charm, a private oasis with a huge private yard. Beach, surfing, surf shops and restaurants all within a 10 minute walk. Quaint Capitola village is 1 mile away.
We have brand new furniture throughout the house so you get the perfect mix of modern and classic bungalow. It's incredibly cute. We love our home, and we hope you will too! It is an old home, and not a party pad. Please treat it with the same respect you would your own home.
The house sits at the end of a long driveway off of 35th Ave. shared with our two neighbors. Being at the end of the lane and far from the street makes our house a quiet and private escape. We're on the north side of Portola, which means you are just as close as all the vacation rentals (we're a 9 minute walk from the beach - we timed it, surf board in hand!) but without the high price tag!
The backyard is an oasis filled with fruit trees. There is a small patio off the kitchen where you can enjoy coffee, and a large deck out back with plenty of seating, where you sit and read a book, play a game with your fmaily, eat your meals or just space out and enjoy the fresh air! The home was built in the 40s and is incredibly cute and quaint, with all the charm of an old house.
You'll feel right at home.
Walk a few minutes to the east and you're on 41st Ave, with all the surf shops (and board rentals), Pleasure Pizza, Chill Out Cafe, and dozens of other dining options. Everything you need is within walking distance.
You can wake up every morning and go for a run along East Cliff or hop in at the point for a surf. Prefer to just lay out on the beach? Head down 36th Ave straight to Jack O'Neill's house and down the stairs to the beach.
It doesn't get much better and we're sad to not be able to enjoy our home ourselves, but are thrilled that you will be able to!
BEDROOMS
Master: lovely and bright and opens up onto the deck. Comfy queen bed. Second: bright and at the front of the house with another comfy queen bed. Guest: this is the kids room! It has a door that opens onto the front of the house and will have two cozy twin beds, perfect for the kids.
BATHROOMS One: bathroom with shower and mini-atrium, right next to the master and second bedroom Two: bathroom with shower and connected laundry room off of the dining room, across from the kids room.
WASHER/DRYER Perfect for all those beach towels!
LOCATION Please do note that we are at the end of a 200ft long dirt driveway with space for only one car. If you're coming with multiple cars, you'll need to park the extra cars on the street. The lane is shared with our neighbors and requires backing out of (there's no turnaround). Just a heads up so you know ahead of time!
HOUSE RULES
We ask that you keep things quiet after 10pm and before 8am, per county ordinances and in general respect for our neighbors. Also, please make sure to only park one car in our driveway so as not to block our neighbors who share our small lane.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Pleasure Point is a surfer's paradise! We are just over the line (known as Portola Rd) from the dense vacation rental space. We love it because it means you're just as close but in a quieter, more residential area.
Unlike the West Side, where you're in a much more suburban area, we are just minutes from great shopping and dining so you get the best of both worlds!
Whole Foods, Safeway, Target and Macy's are all just a short 5 minute drive away. Capitola Village is a beautiful 1.5 mile stroll from our house - great for morning walks!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. Great location just blocks from the beach. Great interior. Beautiful garden and plants. Very comfortable and would love to stay there again.
The house has been beautifully redone -- clean and modern, with very comfortable beds and a lovely back yard. Thanks for a great couple of days!
