Our home is not suitable for guests who prefer a “vacation” apartment or hotel room vibe!
This is our primary family home and for security and privacy and as per VRBO/Owner policies, our address and access info will be not be provided until week of check in. It is automatically sent to you by VRBO.

Our home is steps away from stunning West Cliff Drive (on the lower West Side of Santa Cruz) with its pristine tidal beaches, world famous surf spots and the abundant sea life of Monterey Bay.
Take a 40 minute stroll along West Cliff Drive to the famous Beach Boardwalk and fun fair or a 20 minute bike ride. There is an abundance of restaurants and a further 10 minute walk will take you into Downtown Santa Cruz with its shops, bars, restaurants and cinemas. Alternatively, take a 15 minute walk in the other direction to Natural Bridges Beach and Famous Butterfly Sanctuary.
Our home is a beautiful, tastefully decorated 2500 sq ft house. It is constantly being updated and renovated. It has a fabulous open plan modern kitchen, deck, garden with a Swim Spa/pool and a separate hot tub. NOTE: both the pool and hot tub are bonus items and your rental fee is for the home and contents of the home. Therefore, should either spa be out of order or waiting a service/repair before or during your stay, we will try our best to arrange a technician to service subject to availability.
The house has 3 bedrooms made up of 1 king bed, 1 Queen and 3rd bedroom with 2 Double beds, clothes hanger. There is a twin sofa bed in the downstairs office.
There are 2 family rooms, dining room, office/sunroom, 2.5 bathrooms. The large family room has had a complete fireplace remodel with a stunning European gas double sided fireplace installed. There is a large wall hung Smart TV and modern comfortable sectional sofa and armchairs. The dining room has a large white washed oak dining table, chairs and bench which sits 10. There is a small furnished office (with twin sofa bed) which opens off the dining room and onto the surround deck. Ideal for reading peacefully or making a quiet phone call or an extra small bedroom with sofa chair bed if needed.
The open plan designer kitchen has a surround counter top with stools for 6. The kitchen opens onto dining room and rear family room which also has comfortable sofa, armchairs etc and a wall-hung tv and a pleasant additional sitting nook looking out onto rear garden area with bistro table and chairs
This living space also features another European wood burning stove along with glass slider patio doors and picture window creating a bright, airy open entertaining area which has two sets of doors opening onto deck and a fabulous peaceful rear garden/entertaining area with hot tub, BBQ grill, hammock, outdoor furniture and a 15ft x 9ft SWIM SPA!
There are multiple sitting areas outside to allow for sun or shade. Favorite area for a wee sundowner being in front garden/covered porch area which has a sofa, 2 swinging wicker chairs, 2 garden chairs and another hammock. The streets peaceful and neighbors super friendly and helpful too.

At no time can the number of guests exceed the number detailed in the reservation unless special permission requested and agreed by owner and guest.

IMPORTANT
Please note the pool and hot tub are added “bonus” amenities and therefore should any of these amenities develop a fault or become out of order during or prior to your stay, we will do the best we can to have them serviced and/or repaired. Please be advised that both swim jets are broken on the swim spa due to the storms and are unable to be replaced at this time. However, the seated jets do work along with waterfall and temperature. We keep it at 90' in summer to cool off and the hot tub is kept at 103 ish.

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Turn heating off. Ensure that tv and fireplace remotes are returned to coffee table. Put back in place any furniture you may have moved indoors and outdoors. If bringing your dog please pick up poop.
Place all used linens and towels in the laundry room.
Please put garbage cans on road Thursday night as pick up is early Friday morning.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

We are an Australian/English family now living in Santa Cruz, California. We are a family of 4 - 2 boys aged 13 and 15 plus our 6 yr old Australian Shepherd "Buddha" and his little sister, "Winter" - a 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. The property also has 2 beautiful Dwarf Bunnies which reside in their own Rabbit house at the side of the front door. *The Bunnies will remain on property and be tended by a carer unless you prefer they are removed during your stay. We are from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia although I was born and grew up in United Kingdom. We are beach and mountain people who love the sea, sand and snow. Santa Cruz has so much to offer. Steps from our front door is West Cliff Drive and a walk/bike path takes you passed beaches like the one my family is having fun on in the picture. We have another home in Whistler, British Columbia which we spend most school holidays. We began renting our Santa Cruz home out in 2010. Our house is beautifully decorated and constantly being renovated and decorated (interior design being a Love of mine!), but it is also our home and as such we want you to feel "at home" here. We are big travellers and nearly always stay in VRBO homes and thus I know the importance of having a beautiful place to stay with all the ameneties of your own home!
Why they chose this property
We had travelled to Santa Cruz a few times for work and found it to be a place we could call "home from home" and feel there is a lot of similarities between Sydney and Santa Cruz with so much to do so close to home. If you stand at our front gate and look left you see the Ocean and to the right you look up into the Santa Cruz Hills. There are bike trails and walking trails aplenty. The home is literally minutes away from beaches, boardwalk, town, wineries, restaurants, parks etc. Something for everyone of all ages!
What makes this property unique
We love being so close to the ocean, beaches and great surf spots plus the mountains for hiking and biking with Tahoe just a 4 hour drive away for skiing in Winter and Lakes and biking in Summer. We own another home in Whistler BC, Canada which is just a 2 hour flight away or a 2 day drive!!
(our dogs are the reason we drive!!) making Santa Cruz the ideal location for us.
Down town Santa Cruz is a fun, interesting, lively town with plenty of shops and cafes and restaurants. We love having the beaches steps away from our house so the kids can boogie board, surf or simply just hang out on the beach with the dogs or friends. The Boardwalk and Funfair is a favorite spot along with great bike paths and trails along the coast and up into the hills. The steam train and Redwoods being a 15 minute drive away. The abundance of great restaurants and wineries are a great bonus for those of us who like to wine and dine. Up the road from our house there are a number of local "Wineries" and "Breweries" with fabulous locally grown wines, beers etc if you fancy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere sampling some great wines and beers produced in Santa Cruz. There is also a french bakery, restaurants and a couple of great little boutiques all just a few blocks away from our house. AND that is if you don't want to go down town to sample the fares on offer down there!! All in all - fabulous location for all ages!
