Cozy Cabin Near Boulder with Wildlife and WiFi

Nestled into the earth in the Rocky Mountain foothills above Boulder, Colorado, The Chaled (Chalet + Shed) is a sunny, relaxing hideaway. It’s located on expansive land bordering the National Forest with abundant wildlife, yet just 12 minutes to downtown Boulder and 17 minutes to the ski town of Nederland. It has high-speed internet, off-street parking, mature fruiting apple and apricot trees, a small lawn and garden, and a stone patio and outdoor dining area.

You'll have the 350 square foot cabin and its private yard to yourself. It's situated on a quiet, paved road with little traffic and is part of a larger property with a single family home in full-time residence with two kids. (The main house and one neighboring house are approximately 100 yards away.)

A south-facing window seat is always the favorite spot to read or watch wildlife, and the open floor plan includes comfortable chairs, a dining table with chairs, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom is quiet and cozy and has ample storage space. The bathroom includes tub and shower. The outdoor dining table with umbrella, grill, and outdoor seating overlook the property and are delightful for outdoor meals and entertaining.

Guest access
The cabin is easily accessible from Boulder via paved roads. One parking space is provided in front of it. AWD or 4WD is not necessary most of the year, but in the winter, if snow comes down, it is recommended to get up and down the mountain roads safely.

Other things to note:

The cabin has high-speed internet and cell service, depending on your carrier (AT&T seems to work best up here.) The WiFi is fast, and to use your cell phone for phone calls/texts, simply turn on “Wi-Fi calling”. Please note that there is no AC or TV.

It’s a 5-minute drive to Betasso Mountain Preserve, a Boulder County-maintained trail system for running and biking with 3-mile and 7-mile loops. In the winter you’re about 30 minutes from skiing at Eldora Resort. Rocky Mountain National Park is about 45 minutes drive.

Private, clean “Chaled” that served its purpose for 3 nights. Perfect location between Boulder and quirky Nederland. Loved seeing the roaming wild turkeys, mule deer and pretty sunrises on the comfortable patio. Stay here! You’ll love it.

If I had to use one word to describe the Chaled, MAGICAL. So calming and beautiful. The Chaled was well stocked and so very comfortable. Ashley & Jeb are wonderful hosts! The location was perfect for a home base to go up and play in the mountains. I will be coming back. Thanks to the hosts for hosting such a magical property.

All I can say is wow!! We were thrilled with our stay at Ashley & Jeb’s “Chaled”. It was everything we hoped for and more. It was charming, fully stocked with everything we needed, and the perfect peaceful escape! From the deck we saw hummingbirds, rabbits, wild turkey, and deer. So many places to explore close by. It was so nice to have the full kitchen to be able to make our meals so we could spend more time in the mountains. I wish we lived closer so we could come back more often! This place gives us even more reason to come back and visit Boulder/Colorado. Thank you Ashley & Jeb!

Great location - centered between Boulder and beautiful hiking. The “chaled” as the hosts call it, the hobbit house as my husband I referred to it, is charming, clean, well appointed and well supplied. My husband and I flew in and barely had time to change clothes and head back down into Boulder for an event. The host had snacks and sparkling water available for us. Life saver! Our last evening there we sat out on the patio watching deer and wild turkeys strut by and listened to thunder and rain. Incredibly relaxing. The home looks just as depicted on the website. Hope to come back again soon!

Very cozy cottage up in the foothills. Deer and bunnies everywhere. There was a freak May snowstorm predicted to be a foot of snow so we stayed in Boulder town one night so as not to be snowed in, but snow was manageable by the next day and gone the day after that. It was well stocked with kitchen essentials as well as bathroom items and there were snacks at check in. Love the thoughtful touches.
