Nice looking but unprepared
My spouse and I rented this VRBO for a local wedding as we were coming from out of state.

Beds were geeat
If you just looking for a place to sleep and nothing else this is great. Neighborhood is marginal, cleanliness is marginal, bathroom and kitchen are marginal. But the beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms had good space. If you're coming to a game and need a place
This was not my favorite stay. The bathroom was a bit cluttered around the sink and there wasn’t much room to move around in there either. It also appeared that the bathroom flooring around the sink may not have been finished. Additionally, there was only one bath towel and a small hand towel in the entire place, I looked for others. Fortunately I only stayed one evening due to a change in plans but the whole bathroom situation was stressful.
We did not end up staying here and received a refund. The house is listed as a 2 bedroom but they had a stranger staying in a third bedroom. We were not comfortable with this.

I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. I would like to clarify that the individual was not a stranger but rather a guest whose flight was canceled due to a global IT outage. I did inform you about this situation via message the day before your arrival.

Just okay
Property was still being “cleaned” after our check in time started. However when we arrived the trash cans were full, and there were dirty dishes in the sink. The bathroom sink was clogged and clearly not cleaned, there were hairs etc all over the counter. Lack of extra supplies such as no paper towel and there was only a half a roll of toilet paper, and the toilet was hard to flush kept getting clogged and no plunger was available. There is no TV, this didn’t really bother us but something to note. Property was easy to access and had a lot of parking.

I appreciate your understanding regarding the situation. I had some plumbing issues that were raised by a previous guest, which required me to call a plumber. He mentioned that the weather was affecting the water flow. After I visited the property, I made sure to clean and mop the floors thoroughly. I also apologize for not realizing that the toilet paper had run out. I had placed 12 rollers two days before your arrival. I didn't expect papers to run out. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I will ensure that it's taken care of promptly in the future.

Staying in someone’s home
The owner is incredibly kind and communicative. Getting in was very easy. I will say there is are mixed feelings about the house and neighborhood. Most of the houses in the neighborhood aren’t in the best shape. I think the owner actually lives in the house with a small child. The kitchen is crammed with furniture and the drawers/cabinets are in disrepair. The dishes and silverware are so eclectic and not arranged with any care. There are so many detractors that I won’t list them here. Stating there felt like I was watching grandma’s house while she was on vacation and I was learning in real time that grandma probably shouldn’t be living unsupervised anymore. This is just how this lady probably makes extra income, so I feel bad about being honest but at the same time, I wouldn’t want anyone to rent this house and think they are getting even your below average VRBO. This is almost a social services issue.

Thank you for your feedback, but I need to address some inaccuracies in your comments. I own another house where I actually live with family usually in a one of the prominent area in Indiana with a great school district, and I have this house in downtown that renting for short term which where you had stayed. so your comment is all made up coming from your own assumptions about my situation that are misguided. Most of the cabinets in my home are empty, because renting and I’m unclear about your references to social service issues or look like a grandmother's place. Yes, my furnitures are all primarily antiques imported from other countries, those are not cheap but that doesn't mean validate your review either.
I take great pride in maintaining a clean and well-kept home, as well as maintaining antiques and my reputation reflects that. I want to clarify that my rental fees per a night are very reasonable at $50, which you must recognize is quite affordable. If you were looking for a more luxurious experience, a hotel would have been a better fit for you.
Furthermore, I find your comments to be defamatory and damaging, stemming from unfounded assumptions. I appreciate your input, but please understand that spreading misinformation with lies is not acceptable in any societies.
We needed a place to stay near Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and this was less than 10 mins away. The price was fair and the hostess was nice. There were a few issues though. Two of the home’s smoke alarms were beeping every few minutes all night long. They were up in the ceiling and nothing could be done about them. By the time we checked in it was after 11pm and I knew they couldn’t be fixed, so we just put in headphones and slept. The listed also said this place sleeps up to 8 with 2 queen beds in each bedroom. I’m guessing this must be a typo. It didn’t matter to us, but there was only one queen bed in each bedroom and an L shaped couch that didn’t seem to pull out. The place was clean enough. I’m guessing the owner cleans it herself in lieu of a profession service. All in all it was between a 3.5 and a 4 star stay.

Won't stay here again.
The host was friendly which was the best part of the stay. Communication was spotty until right before the stay when it was non-stop. We were asked if we minded another guest even though we booked the whole house. When we arrived 2+ hours after the check-in time, the host was still cleaning and her daughter was napping in one of the bedrooms. There was no oven/stove and only a pot for boiling water to make coffee. Had we planned on making a meal, I'm not sure we could have. The house and bed were not very clean. The bedroom is on the street side of the house with a street lamp outside. There were blinds but no curtains to block out the light. The only benefit is that the house is fairly close to downtown.

I was disheartened to read a recent review that expressed dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of my property. This feedback surprised me, as I have always taken great pride in maintaining a spotless and well-organized living space, a fact attested by numerous past guests.
Regarding the issue of the oven/stove, I made the decision to replace it with electric cooktops due to their efficiency and modernity. While another guest had successfully used the electric cooktops prior to the recent stay, I understand the concern raised by the reviewer and will take steps to ensure its suitability for all guests in the future.
During the guest's stay, there were global IT outages that affected both myself and the previous guest. This unforeseen circumstance complicated the guest's travel arrangements, making it challenging for them to find alternative accommodation. As a host, ensuring the well-being of all guests is of paramount importance. I hope the reviewer can understand the difficult position I was in during this time. Therefore i have communicated via messages to explain the situation a day before their arrival and seek the guest's advice. However, this guest stayed with his company by themself at my property.
Regarding the mention of my infant daughter, it is important to clarify that while the rental listing includes two available bedrooms, the third is intentionally reserved for my infant daughter's use. I ensure that guests have access to their rooms upon arrival, as was the case with the reviewer. It is unfair to insinuate that the presence of my infant daughter affected the quality of the stay provided.
Furthermore, I would like to address the insinuation that the review may have been influenced by racial bias, which I felt from the initial meetings. As a host, I strive to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests regardless of their background, race, sex, origin, etc. It is disheartening to consider that a guest may have perceived my heritage as Asian background, and the status of i am a mother of an infant as a factor in their experience.
My price are set at a reasonable level, and I take pride in providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for all guests. I hope this provides clarity on the points raised in the review and addresses any concerns that may have been raised.
