Great location

The stay was great, great location for the trails we were looking to ride. It’s always possible we stay again, depending on where we ride.

We had a short stay here at this cabin so we would ride the trails with our side by side! It was a cute cabin with many beds for family and pet friendly which is very important to us. This area of Maine is beautiful and relaxing - people are friendly. The trails are groomed nicely the lookout was cool! Thank you Tom for all your help with check in! The kitchen was huge and table beautifully made! Lots of charm and character you can tell the family that owns it spent many years making cherished memories!!! We enjoyed looking at their pictures of their adventures!

My strongest complaint about this property was the state it was in upon arrival. Minimal care had been taken to prep the property for paying guests. When we walked in, there were mouse droppings on the kitchen table, on the rug in the living room, on the floor and corners all throughout the kitchen and living area, in the cabinets where cooking utensils were stacked, in the pantry with the owners food, in the bathroom and the bathroom vanity: in short, all over. It was so off putting we didn't even unpack our dry goods, and left them in our cooler for the week. The inside of the refrigerator was even less encouraging, as old food debri was left in the storage containers and on the bottom of the fridge. We found two old hamburgers left on a plate in the back of the fridge with plastic wrap on them. We cleaned as best we could prior to unpacking, and when we went to cook dinner, found that the condition of the grill was so revolting even my husband walked away in disgust. It was dirty and peeling on the inside and had eons of old food and debri cooked into it. I contacted the property manager, who was dismissive until I sent him photos. He offered to refund the cleaning fee or a full refund if we decided to leave. We decided to stay as we had already prepaid for several activities that week. This could be a cute rental, and has some positives. Our family did manage to enjoy our vacation, but not prepping the rental appropriately for paying guests was a serious oversight.

Halls Corner Lodge is a wilderness camp in the Northern woods of Maine. Although mice, spiders and other insects are common in this area, it is not indicative of how the property is maintained. It was cleaned a little over a week prior to check-in and unfortunately mice did enter and left their mark while unoccupied. Given the feedback from the guests, a full refund was offered if they wanted to find another property. It was also offered to send the cleaner in to take care of any and all concerns. The only interest was for a discount, so a refund of the cleaning fee was provided...
