Our Girl Scouts loved sleeping in the loft together. The home had everything we needed and it was perfectly warm. We got dusted with the perfect amount of snow too!

The property has lots of different areas to enjoy. One of my past guests also remarked how they would chose a different area to enjoy. The morning on the porch, the afternoon on the lounge or hammock area, the evening on the glider. They remarked that they ran out of time and could have enjoyed even more cozy spaces. Thank you, Rose Ann

No Surprises
It was as promised, still a work in progress, if you want something modern go to a motel, yet this place has everything, lots of yard space and you really felt like you are away from everything and could really relax- which was the purpose.

WONDERFUL RETREAT
This cabin was everything that was promised and more. It was comfortably furnished with many charming extras and lovely touches, like games, stuffed animals, movies, antiques, hand-crafted furnishings, super-comfy couch, rocker on porch, two fireplaces, stained glass, endless decorative pieces, and a purple clawfoot bathtub. Kitchen allows full cooking and has every modern convenience as well as funcitonal 1940s stove. Full electrical service and hot water; clean and beautifully maintained. Very quiet and wonderfully cool. The setting is gorgeous and peaceful. And a quick drive to Flagstaff or Sedona, a little more than two hours to the Grand Canyon. Great for quiet escape, or family gathering. Perfect respite from summer heat and stressful daily life.

Great weekender
The cabin is eclectic and quaint. My kids and mother-in-law all loved it too. Would definitely book again.
Only draw back was hot water in the master bedroom bath and cookware.
The hot water in the master, I think, comes from an inline heater. We tried once to figure it out but instead just opted for the main shower.
The dishware was great and plenty of it but the cookware wasn't the best. Made french toast with the griddle and 10" skillet, they could have been flatter. Challenging to get even cooking. A big plus though was the gas grill outside. According to my wife the best steaks I've ever made
All in all a great place to get away.
P.S. the only sounds I heard were the birds and wind, extra bonus ;)

Their are over 100 trees on the property which attracts lots of cardinals, woodpeckers, squirrels and more. Sorry about the master bathroom instant hot water heater(its two years old). I think the freezing weather caused this nearly new heater to fail. I have purchased a new one and will have my plumber install it. Thank you for reviewing the Rustic Rose property. Happy to hear your whole family enjoyed the cabin. Thank you, Rose Ann

This cabin is beyond rustic. We have been long time VRBO renters and never had a bad experience until this one. We were in this house less than an hour before we packed up and left. The "cabin" has lots of unfinished areas, including the floors. There are strange dark crawl spaces next to walls and stairs. They have tiny waist high doorways that lead to other rooms. The stairs are dangerous for kids, too steep. The outdoor furniture is not usable for sitting, it is all broken and deteriorated. The decor and entire house have a serious creep factor that screams...leave. No one felt safe or relaxed.
Since we didn't stay, we asked for our cleaning fee and security deposit back. The owner does not respond to any messages. It has been over 2 months and we still have not received anything.
If you are thinking or renting this house make sure you scroll through all of the reviews. There are many reviews written in the same voice right after any compliant. We chose this cabin for the low rental rate. In retrospect we should have gone with the many nicer cabins in the area.

Michelle, I'm sorry the cabin was not in your taste. However, that is not a reason to say that my reviews are fabricated. It is a direct insult to myself and all the guests that have written reviews. Guests come here to enjoy the rustic uniqueness of the cabin and get away from the cookie cutter atmosphere that is normally provided in a rental. We have owned and run a successful interior design and custom home furnishings business in Phoenix Arizona for over 25 years. We have been acknowledged for our design skills in Phoenix Home & Garden, The Arizona Republic and Chanel 3, "Good Morning Arizona". I feel we provide a charmingly fun and rustic getaway.
Positives- The property has a great location in Munds Park, the trees in the yard are nice and we loved the hammock. The kitchen was nice.
Negatives- The home was not clean. My daughter's feet were black after walking around in the house barefoot. We found feces and urine on the floor in a crawl space upstairs. I was pretty shocked they rent it out in the condition it is in. There are many areas where young children or elderly could get injured or hurt (stairs on patio for example). We could not get the tv's to work at all. The outdoor furniture is not comfortable to sit on. The master bathroom smelled horrible. And the overall feel (especially in the evening/nighttime) was just very creepy to be honest. We made the best of it and still stayed, but it is in very poor condition. I tried contacting the owner a few times during the stay. Heard back after we left, they were nice and said they had a new cleaning crew that must have done a poor job cleaning, and refunded our cleaning fee. But in reality it's more than just the cleanliness of the home that was disappointing, it was the overall condition that was horrible. Would not recommend renting this home.

I'm so sorry you had a poor experience. We do allow pets, its unfortunate that one went into the crawl space and the cleaning crew did not check that area. We did have the area blocked off, and have added additional barriers that hopefully folks won't go in there.
As far as the feel, it is a rustic cabin. Some folks call it a fairy cabin, and most love the charm. It just wasn't for you.
Quaint rustic home with all the comfortable touches that made us feel so warm and relaxed! Love the location which was not too far from Sedona for hiking. Would definitely go back!
Great getaway from the Valley with our kids and dog!
Cute rustic cabin that makes you feel like you are in the middle of the woods, yet close by restuarants and the freeway to Flagstaff.
The loft area was perfect for our kids. The fenced yard was ideal for our dog.
And all the snow was an unexpected treat for everyone. The national forest was a few blocks away, a nice short walk to an easy trail that was perfect for some afternoon fun!
Odessa and Rose were helpful and responsive to all of our questions and needs.
I would highly recommend and would love to stay again!

Romantic Getaway
My wife and I rented this cabin for Valentine’s weekend and enjoyed our stay. It actually snowed the whole time we were there so it was quite magical outside. The only issue we found was that the only source of heating was through the fireplaces, space heaters, and wall heaters. We found that it was quite cold without a central heating system so we had to keep a fire going in the living room to try and keep warm. There is a heated blanket that we discovered on the second night that helped us stay warm at night. We slept in the loft as well because it was the warmest spot in the cabin. The stove worked well as well as the other amenities .
Loved the outdoor space and the location. Spent most of our time in the front yard. Very quirky and "cabin-y" which we like. Only complaint would be that the water heater in the master bathroom is fickle. Plenty of hot water but it goes in and out a lot so it freezes you and then scolds you if you adjust it. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely stay there again. Thanks!
This is a great spot to get out of the desert heat. The house is unique and comfortable and the property feels private even in the outdoor space. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!
This cozy cabin was just what we needed for a short get-a-way from the Phoenix heat. Great location, close to many outdoor activities and very quiet. It was lovely to hear the wind in the pines and birds.
Great place, clean, quiet, great yard for relaxing in the trees. Close to many great hiking trails and also off road vehicle trails. Quiet neighborhood - overall great place!
I loved the privacy. Very quiet. I
Relished the mornings sitting outside with my coffee. Wall heaters throughout the cabin. Fireplaces super soothing. Master bath with floor heating. What more can u ask for? I’d recommend to all! Thank you Rose Ann for everything!

We are both artist, Nick builds furniture and creates functional art from reclaimed lumber & scrap steel, my passion is oil painting, watercolor, sculpture & Interior Design. Both of our talents combined are the main features at our business location. The Arizona Republic our local newspaper has feaured us on the main page in their Home Design Section, Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine has chosen us as 'Editors Pick', Sunset & Phoenix Magazine have also written articals about us. Jan D'Atri from Channel 3 has interview us on 'Good Morning Arizona' she calls us a, 'HIDDEN TREASURE'. We have won many awards for our design and display qualities. I feel our cabin shows off the best of both our talents. We have been molding this rustic cabin into our work of Art since our purchasing it in July 2000.We are not completely finished with the ideas at the cabin, there are a few things that we are still twikking, but as Artists I don't think we will ever be done, there's always a change comming. I hope you enjoy staying at our charming rustic cabin as much as we have in creating it. Please do not hesitate to call us with any further questions or for additional photographs. We encourge you to visit and enjoy the cool serenity that we have enjoyed creating in this truely unique rustic cabin.
Why they chose this property
Munds Park is an 1 1/2 hour ride from Phoenix with a decrease in temeperature of at least 20 to 40 degrees, with an altitude of about 7,000 ft. above sea level. The air is clean and fragerant . The Park has a large streach of Pondorosa Pines. Lake Odel is located in Munds Park and allows fishing. There are lots of hiking and off roading trails, there is a small playground with swings, monkey bars and sand for the kids. The Park is 20 miles south of Flagstaff. Flagstaff has many small unique artsy cafes, shops and a abundance of mom and pop restaurants. Flagstaff also hosts numerous Festivals, check for the dates scheduled. The Famous Route 66 runs through Flagstaff. The Public library is a wealth of information about the sites and amenities of the area. I have been visiting Munds Park for over 25 years and am always excited to go back. Munds Park is a great short weekend getaway or when possible a wonderful extend summer vacation. I always feel rejuvinated after a visit of chilling out, relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy wakeing up to the smell of fresh pine trees, enjoy sitting out on the porch with a cup of coffee, listinging to the birds and watching nature around you. Our cabin uniquely situated on the property and is surrounded by over 100 tall pines which creates a cozy private feel. We have several hammocks that are available to use under the trees. Spend some time lying on the hammocks, looking up into the trees, the stars at night are bright and shine through the trees. We have 2 fireplaces to light for a truly cozy feel when your ready to retire at the end of the day.
