About this property

The Red Cottage ~ 5 min. stroll to Historic St. George Street - on site parking

In full disclosure the Red Cottage is a 125 year old structure, built from lumber salvaged after the 1914 fire. It was used by a native Spaniard, Manuel Menendez, where he rolled cigars until the mid 1930's. It has its quirks and flaws but it's decor, warmth and persona are enchanting. Incredibly convenient and very accessible this is perfect for you if you love vintage.

It was converted to a one room studio with a small kitchen and bathroom. Rustic, quaint, cozy and charming ~ it was recently renovated but still maintains a touch of its history. The kitchen is equipped with a Keurig coffee machine and pods, cream & sugar, a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and normal kitchen necessities. Please note per the pictures, the bathroom is small and the shower can be a bit tight. A flagstone patio offers outside seating. Free off-street parking is available with lots of extra space for trailer, boat or a recreational vehicle.

The Cottage sits on a large piece of property behind a turn-of-the-century Victorian home (the property owner's rental) overlooking Castillo Drive, the entrance to the city. Francis Field, across the street, is the downtown dog park/event field. Less than 200 yards East is The Visitor Center, and City Gates. Castillo de San Marco (the fort) and Saint George Street are just beyond. Short drives take you to the beautiful beaches of Villano, Anastasia State Park and St. Augustine Beach. On the way to the beach, stop by the Alligator Farm and the Historic St. Augustine Light House. For shopping, St. George street offers many lovely boutiques, and gift shops. Or choose from area outlet malls, farmer's markets, antique stores, etc.

My fiance and I stayed here for our 7th anniversary get away and it was beautiful. Not only was the cottage comfortable, our host Hillary was super fast to respond and oh so kind. It's extremely close to everything so you can just park your car and walk to almost everything. Hilary provided recommendations for what we were looking to experience as well and the cottage is full of brochures and maps! Definitely recommend!

My wife and our dogs stayed at Hilary’s rental for our anniversary weekend, and it was absolutely perfect. The space was cozy, spotless, and had everything we could possibly need, plus an incredibly convenient location that made getting around easy. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we were able to relax and enjoy every moment. Hilary was an outstanding host — incredibly accommodating, thoughtful, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and already look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful host! Very responsive. Great location and very comfortable and cozy. If you don’t mind traffic noise this time of year, and a tiny bathroom - we didn’t at all - and already booked again.

A lovely little cottage! Lots of quaint accents with everything we needed for the weekend. We came to St Augustine for the Night of Lights and the cottage location so close to downtown was perfect. The only drawback to its location was the traffic noise. Otherwise, we were able to avoid the hassle of traffic and looking for parking.
Bathroom. Small and adequate.
Nice little kitchen.
Very comfortable bed.

The best attribute is Location to old town St Augustine . Only 2-3 blocks for the old town district. Parking is that a premium in St Augustine so having ample off street parking and an easy walk to town is fabulous. The cottage is just the right size for two people. I had all we needed for our stay. The Hostess was a great communicate and I will give our experience an A

Though small, the cottage was suitable for 2 people and our dog. The location was ideal for walking to the old city. At this time of the year it was very busy at night with traffic and people going to see the wonderful lights display. Tennis courts were also conveniently nearby. We had trouble with the Roku tv because it was unfamiliar to us. Hillary and Jeremy did their best to help and were available throughout our stay. We recommend this cottage for anyone wishing to see St. Augustine especially during the holiday season.

A cozy cottage within short walking distance of historic district. Has its own parking spot and an uncovered outdoor sitting area for enjoying an evening cocktail- which I did!

So incredibly convenient to historical downtown. We didn’t stay in the room much. But could walk everywhere. Will say the only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star rating, was the hot water didn’t seem to work. We may have been using the shower wrong. We didn’t complain because we didn’t really spend a lot of time there. I would definitely rebook if we ever come again!

Unique property in an excellent location

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage, very comfortable with an eccentric kind of vintage style. The location was excellent for visiting all the local attractions. Communication was great. We would definitely stay again.

We just stayed at the Little Red Cottage for the second time, and somehow it was even better than the first. The space is the perfect size for me, my wife, and our pup, Patchouli. It was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with all the little conveniences that make a stay easier. The bed was super comfortable, and the shady patio was a great spot to relax and people-watch.The location couldn’t be better...walkable to food, drinks, shopping, and everything the historic district has to offer. Once we parked in the private off-street spot right beside the cottage, we never touched our car again. The host was fantastic: warm, friendly, quick to respond, and flexible. She made us feel welcome from the start. We love this cottage and will definitely be back again!
