Our little place is nestled in the Mill Creek community in Vance, SC, with boat access to Lake Marion about 100 yards from our driveway. The neighborhood is friendly, with golf carts meandering about, people fishing, boating, enjoying their gardens and the local campground and restaurant.
We acquired this property on Lake Marion in 2015 and did a complete renovation, including all hardwood floors from reclaimed barn wood, brand new EVERYTHING - kitchen appliances, kitchen farm sink, counter tops, claw foot tub, toilets, furniture, decor, fixtures, Smart TV's (in every room), a/c and heating unit, water heater, and more! The unit is equipped with Direct TV and Netflix (account already hooked up) in the living room and both bedrooms. The property also has a covered building that can accommodate a boat (landing is football field away). This is a safe and quiet lake neighborhood, with a marina and restaurant within walking distance.

Everything was great for the most part, a few dead roaches on the floor, and there was a pair of women’s underwear folded inside one of the dish towels.
This property was very clean and in the perfect location for me and my family. The area was quiet and the neighbors were very friendly. Looking forward to going back very soon.
Very nice renovated older home that we fell in love with,, great neighborhood, great location and even better owners!! We are definitely looking forward to our next visit

Great place
We enjoyed our stay at the designer lake house. I have been to the area on several other occasions and this place is by far the best house I have rented. Great location for fishing and boating. Mill Creek marina and restaurant is just a stones throw away. The neighbors were extremely friendly and the owners were very accommodating.

Nice setting. Quiet.
Nice place. Clean and comfortable. Good location for access to golfing and town for food shopping or restaurants. Close to a park with shore fishing opportunities. The State park is not far and interesting to visit also. The bathing is a little tricky with the tub shower setup.

Thanks for the review, Steve! The tub was a bit tricky with the shower head that came with the tub, but we have updated it with a shorter one that gives us taller people a few more inches under the water. Thanks again for the helpful feedback.

Fishing with my sons
It’s a really nice place but wasn’t as clean as advertised. There were black hairs all over the coffee table and also small black hairs in the sheets of the master bed. There were also stains on the sheets and the sofa. Thank you

Short and Sweet
We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend and we loved the house. Although we didn't spend a lot of time in the house, rather at my parents house in Santee, it was perfect for us. Access to Lake Marion is walking distance . . . yards not miles . . . and the neighborhood is quiet and clean. We will definitely be back!
The house was great and the quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors made it even better. It was nice being in a location where I didn't feel the need to lock up my vehicle or worry about my boat. The community boat ramp was very convenient too. Overall I'm very pleased with my stay at this relaxing location. My only complaint is that the weather wouldn't always cooperate with my plans of fishing the lake as much as I hoped to (which has nothing to do with the property or the owner, they were both great!) Definitely would rent again!

Disappointing
Shower too small unless you are a child. No lake access unless you have a boat or drive to a boat landing

Hi Donald- we're sorry you had a disappointing visit.
The boat landing is about a football field away and has a sea wall that can be fished off of. There is also a campground and marina about a block away that offers a fishing pier for a charge and has a restaurant as well. You do need a boat of some kind to go out on the lake. An exception to that is a public beach about a five minute drive away. It has a playground, grills, fishing pier and a swim beach. All for free. Then the state park is also nearby at a 10 min drive.
The shower is a claw foot tub as pictured in the photos. My husband is 6ft tall and about 250 pounds. He uses it with no issue when we stay there.

Deborah, we had no idea that you and your family were not enjoying yourselves during your stay. We interacted with you in person on one occasion when the fire department was called out for a fire alarm due to not using the range hood. Everybody seemed happy and enjoying themselves. After that, we received your email concerning a broom that was broke and replaced (thank you, again), questions for the checkout procedure, and notification of the spiders seen in the cupboard, and a dead snake that was found – unpleasant, no doubt.
However, in your email, you stated that you had already taken care of it, and said “We had no problems dealing with these things, but I wanted you to know.” We took you at your word that you didn't have a problem, and there was no indication that you felt you were staying in “The house of many plagues”. We apologized for the experience and said that we would followup with our pest control company to make sure they were aware, and to make whatever adjustments necessary to prevent another occurrence. We also requested a photo of the snake so that we could identify the type, as baby rat snakes look similar to Copperheads and are often mistaken for such, and we wanted to know for ourselves whether a critter that found its way in was benign or not, as we often visit with our 4 children.. However, we never heard from you again.
Furthermore, we have an alarm system in our home. It keeps logs of every time a door is opened and closed. I checked the logs during your stay, and saw that both our front AND back door were habitually left open throughout your stay. Counting ONLY time periods of 5 minutes or more, the front door was left open 7 times at an average of 12.4 minutes (27 minutes the longest), and the back door was left open 18 times at an average of 23.2 minutes (twice for OVER an hour). This is rural South Carolina, and you cannot leave doors hanging wide open and then be surprised when you find critters inside the house.
Concerning the mouse and bed bugs – neither of these were ever mentioned to us. Furthermore, we waited to respond to your review because immediately upon reading your claim, we scheduled our pest company to come and do a bedbug inspection. It was completed this morning (08/17/2017), and came up clean – no bedbugs.
We have a high commitment that our guests enjoy themselves and have an environment that they make wonderful memories in. We're sorry that is not what you took away.

In need of TLC
When we pulled up to the property our hearts sank because it looked dismal. We spent the next 3 days cleaning. It really needs a deep cleaning. We had to request silverware, cups, towels, and a few other things. The Direct TV didn’t work and required help from the property managers to get it online. The furniture was uncomfortable. The neighborhood was okay but the county in general is very poor and dirty. There is a great State Park near by as well as a National Park and a National Refuge Area. The lake itself has a lot of stumps to navigate around and the water is very muddy.
