Vintage Hawaiian Oceanfront Paradise

Pop back in time and relax in 60's mod style in this quaint vintage apartment hotel, capturing a front row center view of Magic Sands Beach since 1963.

Roll out of the soft and cozy queen size bed and step right across the street to take a dip in the turquoise blue ocean. This beach is ever changing, as Namaka (Hawaiian goddess of the sea), works her magic on the soft white sand, taking it away and then putting it back, earning its name for the magically disappearing sands. Popular for boogie boarding and snorkeling, you can see bright schools of yellow tangs and black batfish right from the shore. Visitors and locals all love to gather at this beach to watch the spectacular sunsets!

When it’s time to grab a bite, across the street is a walk up grill where you can get a cup of fresh roasted Kona coffee and breakfast in the morning, or lunch in the afternoon. They make incredible acai bowls with fresh local fruit! You can grab a beer or cocktail to go here and enjoy it on the beach. Also across the street is Magics Beach Grill, offering oceanside dining lit by tiki torches with spectacular reef fish viewing and glowing sunsets! Downtown Kona is just 4 miles away with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Don’t feel like driving? The Kona trolley stops right here and will take you downtown or to the nearest shopping center where you can pick up some food if you feel like making a laid back meal at home in your fully stocked kitchenette. Enjoy dining in at a handcrafted mango bar top table, with a stellar view of the ocean.

PLEASE NOTE:

-This unit has NO AIR CONDITIONING, but it does have powerful fans and a lovely ocean breeze!

-Located across from Magic Sands Beach and directly on Ali’i Drive, you can hear the fun being had at all times of the day. You will be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a popular beach.

- Also located next to Pahoehoe Beach Park and the sacred La’aloa Bay. Kahalu’u Beach Park is about a mile away for great snorkeling!

-There is one dedicated parking spot assigned to this unit.

-There is no dishwasher in this unit. But you probably won’t be cooking extravagant meals, leave that to the restaurant chefs!

-There is a washer and dryer in the complex, must download Wash Connect app in advance. Laundry detergent is provided in the unit.

-Smoking is not allowed on the property, so if you need it, just walk across the street and enjoy the ocean view!

-There is no pool in this complex. Who cares? You came here for the OCEAN.

-Caution: this little slice of paradise will capture your heart and make it very hard to leave!

Wonderfully comfortable. Small complex with easy parking. Great location across the street from the beach. We could hear the sounds of the waves at night. The kitchen gave us everything we needed. We will stay again when visiting Kona.

We had a wonderful stay at Atomic Tiki! The condo has the best decor we've ever seen in a rental and we had so much fun discovering the little treasures in all the fun items they have collected here. The beach was easy to access just across the street. We didn't realize that the unit isn't air conditioned but that was a small price to pay for such a great location, great communication, and a great value.

We visited during a heavy storm- it was amazing to watch the daredevils surf on Magic Sands beach. The condo was very cozy and kitchen was well-appointed.

Great location with the beach across the street. Amazing room with perfectly curated mid century Tiki vibe. You will swear you just walked into a 1960 beach bungalow. Every detail was spot on, down to the silverware. The record player is a fantastic touch that completes the experience.

We had a wonderful four night stay at Atomic Tiki! The listing is totally accurate. Absolutely loved the location and decor. Super clean and comfortable. Great dedicated off street parking for the rental car and we also used the free bus that runs the length of Ali’i Drive. Highly recommend Atomic Tiki and would love to stay again!

Sometimes in novels or TV shows, the place itself is a character. The atomic tiki was a beloved part of my first tri to Hawaii, listening to the ocean from bed, wandering across the street to have coffee in the morning and swimming, it was perfect. The hosts thought of everything, there was a cooler to take the beach and ice packs in the fridge, a book on local fish. Everything we needed was there. Huge thanks for a great stay.

The location is great. Due to the season the Magic sands beach across the street was rocky but we enjoyed mornings and sunsets on the beach. The room was comfortably equipped with everything we needed.

This space has super fun decor and amazing amenities. Loved the use of beach towels and chairs, cooler, so many kitchen appliances. Overall it was clean and in a great location for our travels and close to so many great beaches, sights, and restaurants. I applaud the hosts for their descriptive honesty that there is no AC; however, it was hot and uncomfortable sleeping and merely opening the sliding door or windows to feel the ocean breeze, wasn’t an easy or appropriate fix. There is a very busy road between the space and the beach, and many cars had loud engines, played loud music, and people hung out at the beech, all of this occurring every night at all hours.

We try to be clear about these thing in our listing. Having a front row seat to a popular beach does mean the noise that comes with those things. Personally, we like being in the middle of a popular bustling beach, but it's not for people looking for a tranquil vibe. Very cute Studio… GroundLevel, Directly Across from Magic Sands! Well appointed, kitschy Decor! No AC, but was comfortable enough for our short stay. It is located on Alii Drive, which is very busy, so there is road noise… again, it did not bother us… but if you are a light sleeper, it is a bit noisy. But Super Easy Access to ALL of the Best of Kona!

And as detailed in our listing, our building is older and does not have the electric system to support AC, but we do offer a couple of individual portable coolers and plenty of fans. The location is magical, but the lack of a/c was felt upon arrival. The evening sun bakes the room and we found it to be hotter inside than it was outside by almost ten degrees. While we appreciated the amenities provided, the pool noodles and boogie boards were dry-rotting and we ended up leaving them behind to avoid littering in the ocean. We recommend getting a ductless a/c or portable one to make this place as special as it looks. (we ended up buying one from walmart and returning it at the end of our trip and it made a world of difference in enjoying our stay)

Hi Emily, We are sad to hear that out condo did not meet your expectations. Island life is living with the windows and doors open and a lot of places don't have AC. We understand that some people from the mainland expect it and may not look for that amenity when viewing listings. Our listing states in the description that we don't have it and it is not listed in the amenities. Our building is old and doesn't have electrical that can support the load needed for AC. We were surprised that you found our water toys to be too worn. We replace our water toys every year. Things tend to wear out quickly in the sun and salt water and we are constantly replacing things as they wear out. We just replaced the chairs, pillows, rug, door mats, beach chairs & umbrella on our lanai. We also just replaced the ceiling fan and the floor fan inside. We just purchased blackout curtains to replace our blinds, which should help keep the condo cool in the afternoons when the sun is directed at the sliding door. As you can see, we take great pride in maintaining our slice of paradise and we value the feedback we receive from our guests. We hope you have a better experience wherever you stay next.
