About this property

Calabash Reef House, 2 Bedrooms- Steps To The Ocean

Escape to Roatán’s unspoiled East End, where the Caribbean is just steps from your door. Surrounded by coconut palms in a peaceful seaside setting, this spacious island home offers beautiful water views, a breezy veranda and easy access to the sea and nearby reef. Swim, snorkel, explore the shoreline or simply slow down and enjoy island life away from the crowds. Starlink Wi-Fi keeps you connected when you want to be—although you may find it’s even better to disconnect.

A True East End Island Escape

Step away from Roatán’s busier tourist areas and experience the quieter side of island life at this charming 2-bedroom, 2-bath seaside cottage. Tucked among coconut palms just back from the Caribbean, the home offers a peaceful setting where the reef, sea and laid-back rhythm of the East End are part of everyday life.

Walk from the cottage toward the water and you’re just steps from the shoreline and community dock. Swim, snorkel, fish, or head out by boat to explore more of Roatán’s spectacular reef system. One of the East End’s well-known dive operations is only about a five-minute boat ride away, making this a wonderful home base for divers and ocean lovers.

The large covered veranda is one of the best places to enjoy the property. Start your morning with coffee surrounded by tropical greenery, relax in the shade during the afternoon, or settle in after a day on the water and enjoy the Caribbean breeze.

Inside the Cottage

The open living area features beautiful vaulted wood ceilings, hardwood floors and plenty of natural light, giving the home a warm Caribbean feel. The living room provides comfortable seating for relaxing after a day of exploring, along with a TV and Starlink Wi-Fi.

The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals at home, with plenty of cabinet and counter space and an adjoining dining area.

Both bedrooms feature a queen bed, private en-suite bathroom, storage, ceiling fan and air conditioning, making the cottage a comfortable choice for two couples, a small family or friends traveling together.

Explore by Land or Sea

The property can be reached by road or water. An AWD or 4-wheel-drive vehicle is required to access the property by road, as East End roads can be rough and conditions can change with the weather. Water taxis are also available for transportation to restaurants, dive operations and other destinations along the south shore.

This isn't a resort experience—and that's part of its appeal. It's an opportunity to stay in a quieter seaside community, surrounded by tropical vegetation, Caribbean water and the natural beauty that makes Roatán’s East End so special.

Important Things to Know

Electricity: Electricity is not included in the nightly rate and is charged separately based on actual usage at $0.40 per kWh. The electric meter will be read at check-in and again at check-out. Guests can easily control their usage by turning off air conditioning when it is not needed.

Community Water: Like many homes on Roatán’s East End, the cottage is supplied by a community water system. Water is delivered on scheduled days and stored in the property's cistern. Guests should be mindful of water consumption, particularly during longer stays. Our local team monitors the system and is available to assist if needed.

Vehicle Requirement: An AWD or 4-wheel-drive vehicle is required when driving to the property. Roads on Roatán’s East End are more rugged than those in the developed tourist areas and can become more challenging after heavy rain. We are happy to provide car-rental recommendations.

Island Living: Roatán is a tropical island, and occasional utility interruptions can occur. The property is equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi, providing fast and reliable internet service, although island-wide service interruptions are always possible. You may also encounter tropical insects, geckos and other island wildlife during your stay. The property is regularly maintained and treated, but these are a natural part of life in the tropics.

Drinking Water: We provide 5-gallon drinking water jugs for your arrival. Empty jugs may be exchanged for full ones at roadside stores and other locations selling drinking water, typically for approximately $2 USD per jug.

Check-In / Check-Out: Early check-in or late check-out may be available depending on the property's schedule and availability. Please contact us in advance to request it. Additional fees may apply.

Our local East End Roatán team is available throughout your stay should you need assistance or have questions about the property or the island.

This property is proudly offered and professionally managed by East End Roatan Property Solutions, providing personalized, hands-on guest service throughout your stay.

Thank you for your feedback. All concerns reported during your stay were addressed promptly, and we worked to resolve them as quickly as possible within the limitations of island logistics. We’re pleased to share that the property has since been upgraded with Starlink, now providing fast and reliable internet service to you and future guests. Regarding the refrigerator, after initial repair attempts, we determined that replacing it with a brand-new unit was the best long-term solution to ensure reliability and guest comfort. The roof leak was a newly identified issue, and we appreciate your assistance in managing the situation before our repair team could arrive. As for the water supply, this home operates on a community water system that delivers water twice weekly. Homes in this area require manually activating a valve and pump to fill the cistern. While this is typical for this part of the island, we understand it can be an adjustment for longer stays like yours. We are happy that you fulfilled your original booked stay and extended for 2 additional weeks. We value your feedback, as it helps us continue improving both the property and the overall guest experience.

My roots are in the Adirondacks of New York, but Roatán has been home for more than a decade. Today I split my time between two places I love—the mountains of New York and the Caribbean island that became my second home.

Through East End Roatan Property Solutions, our local team personally manages and cares for vacation homes throughout Roatán’s beautiful East End. After more than a decade of welcoming guests here, I still love helping people discover the quieter, less-traveled side of the island.

Why they chose this property

I was drawn to Roatán because it felt like an undiscovered Caribbean destination—a place of incredible natural beauty that still felt authentic and unspoiled. The island is surrounded by the spectacular Mesoamerican Reef, with crystal-clear water, beautiful beaches and some of the best snorkeling and diving imaginable.

But what truly makes Roatán special is its people. The warmth of the island communities, the culture and the slower pace of life are a huge part of why I fell in love with it.

The East End remains my favorite part of the island. It’s quieter, less developed and gives visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and character of Roatán that captured my heart so many years ago.
