Good Apartment, Sketchy Location
Nikos was very nice and met us at our location. He was very accommodating to our large group. We felt safe once in the apartment, but going and coming from our different day excursions was a little harrowing. The neighborhood was not the best, especially at night. The location was close to the Archeological Museum, but it was rather far from everything else.

Good Apartment
Here’s the Good Bad and Ugly. I’ll start with the Ugly because I like to end on high notes. There’s only 1 bathroom not 2 like the listing says. There are 2 toilets but only 1 bath and that would’ve been a deal breaker for us. Sharing 1 bath between 8 of us was quite a challenge. The Bad - everyone has their own preference so this may not be bad for everyone but the beds were pretty firm and the pillows were even firmer. I like really fluffy everything so this was tough for me. The Good - location was easy to get to and close to shopping and food. It seemed a little sketchy to us at first but after spending time there it was fine. The AC’s worked well which was great. The washing machine worked well too. Overall we like the apartment and felt like it was a good space and location for us except for the bath situation.

New travelers beware
If you aren’t a well seasoned traveler, this listing likely isn’t for you.
Overall, this listing served its purpose but if you are looking for a nice holiday, know that this place is not in the best of locations (especially if you have children). Within a one block radius, you can easily find drug addicts, prostitutes, and so on in broad daylight. The neighborhood is covered in graffiti and the entranceway to the apartment is no exception- we would often wake to new graffiti on the doorway.
The interior of the apartment is rather dusty, the mattress is hard, the provided towels will leave you covered in debris, you can only run one heater/air conditioning at a time, etc.
That all said, if you have traveled or lived in Europe extensively (for context, I lived in Spain for 1.5 years and have travel throughout Europe and Southeastern Asia— frequently having slept in hostels or “less desirable” areas), none of the above should not shock you…however, if this is your first trip to Europe/Greece you might be shocked.

Dear Corey,
I could say many comments in response to what you write. However, I will limit myself to the mood you all had as a family (six adults from 25-60 years old) before you even entered the apartment and to your negative mood after some family dispute before we met, which created a heavy atmosphere during the check-in.
I will not deny that in Athens (of 5 million people), as in all large European capitals and cities, drugs are everywhere, even in the very expensive neighborhoods.
Especially you Americans know this very well, given that your country is the biggest drug market in the world, so I wonder why you were impressed if you saw drug addicts in the area (which I don't believe).
The apartment is directly opposite the Ministry of Health of Greece, it is strictly controlled and patrolled by the police (which makes the area extremely safe), and thus drug addicts and prostitutes do not dare to gather there. Moreover, the apartment is 250 meters from the National Archaeological Museum (tourist area) and these people are violently evicted by the police. I am closing this point of my answer.
You talked about dust in the apartment and the towels. I disagree with both of what you say. I refer to previous comments from happy customers who have stayed there.
Bed mattresses are somewhat subjective, some prefer hard and others soft. This house has medium hardness bed mattresses to cover most tastes.
As an epilogue I will say that you booked a large four-bedroom apartment (130m2) for 20 euros per person/day in the most central part of Athens, just 400m from Omonia square (zero point of the city). Obviously your main criterion was low cost.
Maybe a hotel would suit you better but at a much higher cost (5X).
My comments are not addressed to you but to future customers who will read your bitter opinion.
Walking distance to the National Archaeological museum. Not much else in the neighborhood. Nikos, the host was very helpful. No problem checking in. And he arranged transportation to and from the airport. Easy to get an Uber ride to wherever you are going.
