Host was very welcoming. The cabin is very comfortable, it was really easy to get settled in, lots of amenities, chargers on each nightstand, etc. and everything in the house is really well labeled.
Josh was an outstanding host — very responsive before and during our stay and clearly thoughtful about every detail. The cabin was well stocked, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for a cozy winter getaway. The wood-burning fireplace made the space extra warm and inviting, and we loved being able to stargaze right from the backyard under clear skies. We cooked all of our meals and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds were also very comfortable.Highly recommend!
Our stay was awesome - cozy and comfortable with all the amenities we were looking for! We loved the fireplace!Easy access to many things, being right on Route 6. We saw beautiful night skies at the house and also at Cherry Springs which was only 30 minutes away.Josh was incredibly responsive when we had questions. Will definitely be returning again soon!
This was the perfect place for a tranquil long weekend getaway. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. We loved sitting by the fire every morning planning our excursions!
The cabin was great, check in was easy. Kitchen was well equipped for meal preparation. The house is clean and beds are comfortable. Plenty of good fire wood to use in the fire pit.
Loved our weekend stay at the Dark Sky Escape. Cabin is cozy yet spacious with everything we needed for our stay. Very clean and comfortable. The property is up on a hill and surrounded by trees...a true hideaway. Great communication and clear instructions throughout the stay. Will definitely be back.
We spent two greats here! The place was clean and organized. We loved being close to all the parks and trails and took advantage of the fire pit! We will definitely be back!
Everything was perfect. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well stick for all your cooking needs. Because of the area the house is in it would be advisable to stay in and cook your dinner meals. We spent all three nights with a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed our home cooked dinner. The owner has thought of everything that you will need for your stay. Communication with the owner before arriving and during our stay was excellent. We will book this cabin for any future visits to this area.
My wife was very much appreciative of all the comforts and considerations. The sky cooperated and I got a photo of M51-The Whirlpool Galaxy 31 million ly distant. Returning home with a refreshed perspective!
Exactly what my wife and I were looking for; a getaway where time wasn’t an issue. We star gazed at Cherry Springs and from the side yard. Elk are just an hours ride away and this time of year they never disappoint.

Hey Ward & Ryan, we are very sorry our beds, which have been mentioned explicitly by our other guests as being extremely comfortable, didn't meet your personal preferences and earned us a 3-star review. We very much wish you would have reached out to us about this problem to see if there was anyway we could remedy it. As mentioned in our previous correspondence, we stand by our 5-star experience and will do anything we can to make sure our guests are happy. Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to host you again!
We loved how cozy and clean and organized everything was inside of the home. You can eat out, however you are well equipped to make a dinner at the house as well. They had dog bowls for our pups, the beds were so comfy. The views were absolutely amazing and you’re not too far from feeding the cutest little deers, souvenirs, gem mining, kayaking, hiking, atv rides, cherry springs, dollar general, and tons of little places to shop or eat, our dogs loved running around the mountain side, it was very peaceful and I will be back again.
Communication with the host was super quick and easy. The cabin is perfectly located along what seems to be the main route to most major attractions. Everything inside was clean, well-stocked, and clearly prepared with care and thought. One thing to note: the walkway from the driveway to the cabin is pretty uneven and can be slippery when it rains. It was manageable for me and my daughter, but more challenging for my mom, who uses a cane. To be fair, the listing does mention that it’s not wheelchair accessible, which usually means uneven ground—we just underestimated it from the photos. She made it up and down just fine, just slowly. And truly, that was our only issue, which feels like a fair trade-off when you’re staying in a cabin on a literal mountain. What I adored most about the property is how quickly we felt at home. You know how some places are so sterile you’re afraid to touch anything, or so grimy you don’t want to? This struck the perfect balance- clean, but comfortably lived-in. One small thing really stuck with me: height marks on the back door trim, likely from the original owners. It made the place feel personal and loved. I hope they never sand it away.In short: if you’re questioning it, just book it. You won’t regret it.
Hi, we’re Josh and Laurie—thanks for considering Denton Hill Hideaway!
We fell in love with Potter County for its quiet forests, dark night skies, and slower pace of life. This cabin is one of our favorite places to unplug, relax by the fire, and enjoy time outdoors—and we’re excited to share it with guests looking for the same experience.
We love hiking, fishing, stargazing, and exploring small towns like Coudersport, and you’ll see those passions reflected throughout the cabin. Our goal is simple: provide a warm, comfortable home base where you can truly unwind.
