Was hard to find the place to pick up keys then found out after calling that the key was in the house. WiFi password would have been nice to have in the house but great location to watch northern lights, out in middle of nothing and the ocean in the background.
As others have noted, this cottage is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature, with breathtaking views from every window. It is well appointed for a summer stay, but not as well for a midwinter stay. The only lights are very bright overhead lights, with no bedside table lights, no reading lamps, no wall lights - so playing games in the evening, going to the bathroom at night, and making coffee in the morning, the only options are phone flashlight or full on daylight lights; it is not very cozy. The door outside to the hot tub makes a horrendous screeching/scraping noise. There are no pillows on the couches, no games, very spare: for example, we were a group of five and there were five coffee pods left for us. I think if we’d been passing through in the summer just to spend the night between long day adventures, this place would be great. (Comfy beds, great kitchen for cooking and eating, laundry facilities!) But for a winter weekend of snuggling up, playing games, drinking coffee…it fell a bit short, especially considering the cost. The check-in email and the check-in text gave conflicting information. The posted house rules and the house description in VRBO gave different information. The pictures don’t quite match the current state of the house. Basically, for the price, the listing and the property could use a little updating.
Unfortunately we arrived in the dark and left in the dark so we can not comment on the property. In November the sun sets around 5 and risess around 10. We also got hit with a crazy storm so no hot tub. Now we did see the Northern Lights it was amazing, actually the main reason we stayed in this area. The building is modern and clean, very cozy in the storm would stay again.
The location given on the VRBO site tried to take us to a different location not even close to the house. This was not the owner's fault.
There was lots of space and the kitchen had everything you need to cook and a grill that we could not get to light. There was a washer but no dryer which did not help us out.

Beautiful home and property
We had a wonderful stay here. We enjoyed the full kitchen and the hot tub. Our only complaint was the directions were not clear and we ended up at the neighbour's house. We found the rental afterwards, but had no code for the property in advance. The directions said to go to the main house for the code. We had no idea where the main house was, we couldn't see any other homes. One of us ran to 3 people on horseback riding by, who conveniently had the code. We would just suggest sending the code the day before or something so we could have just let ourselves in without being stressed and trying to call the number (which no one answered).

Hi Sara,
Thank you for your review and your stay!
Guests are supposed to get the Pin number five days before check-in automatically. But obviously you that wasn't your case so I'll take a look on this and fix this. Thank you for letting me know about this!
The people that you did meet were my family that live on the next farm.
Hope that you enjoyed your stay! :)

Extremely impressed. There was a power outage after dark. Within minutes the landlord's Mother stopped by to check on us and bring candles. Loved our stay. Will recommend it to our friends.
Beautiful farmland with an ocean view! This is a great location to stay when exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, or western Iceland. It's very peaceful and nice to relax in the hot tub after a long day of adventures.
Wir hatten 2 sehr schöne Tage in diesem Haus. Es liegt sehr ruhig, genau richtig, um nach einem langen Ausflug den herrlichen Whirlpool zu genießen. Die Betten sind sehr bequem .

Perfect place to experience the true Iceland.
Wonderful setting with an ocean bay next to the house. Surrounding by mountains in the distance. We loved seeing the sheep at our door and the horses out our windows. Comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. We wish we could have stayed more than three days. Great place to see the NORTHERN LIGHTS since it is dark and isolated from other houses.

Stunning location, very remote, incredible views, peaceful and comfortable
The property has a comfortable and relaxing lounge, a spacious, light and well equipped kitchen and 2 modern bathrooms. Technically it can sleep 9 however as it is only 2 bedroom I think you would feel a bit on top of one another and as there is only 1 shower I think it would not be ideal for so many, however there were only 3 of us so that was not an issue.
Access to the property was via a gravel road which takes 10-15 minutes to drive down so people renting need to be psyched up for that and in an appropriate vehicle.
The patio is comfortably furnished, its a beautiful experience sitting out and watching the sunset behind the mountains if you happen to get a clear and warmish night.
Patio does have a hot tub however there was no water in it and no instructions, we were pretty sure we were not supposed to use it but it would have been lovely to.
Nearest shop is over half an hour's drive away so you don't want to be running out of milk.
Property was spotlessly clean and hosts very helpful when video player wasn't working replacing it within half an hour.
Very good base from which to explore the Western fjords, would definitely recommend. We had a wonderful time there.

Amazing experience - wish we could have stayed longer
This is a location that you can truly allow yourself to get away from the hustle of a city. Listening to the birds and watching the tides was very relaxing. Accommodations are comfortable and tidy.

Dream rental
This property is what you dream a vacation rental could be but you don't ever actually expect it. On the coast with an expansive view of the entire Snaefellness peninsula, with Icelandic horses running free on the beach in front of the property, with a spacious house, clean and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen and outside bbq grill, a back deck that looks over this dream view and has a perfect bistro table to sit with a glass of wine in the evening and coffee in the morning. Nokkvi''s lovely sister was so friendly. She showed us around the house then left us in complete privacy. In fact you could not ask for more privacy. To get to this paradise rental you leave the ring road, drive on a gravel road past the first farm with sheep and lambs and horses. The animals all run free so we had to stop the car as a curious horse stared us down from the center of the road. Just make sure you continue past the first farm and house. Look for the sign Hitarnes. At their beautiful farm you will meet Nokkvi's family and you will follow them in your car to your very secluded rental. Absolutely amazing. We recommend stopping at a market in Borgarnes and making your own meals or picnics to go. We loved hiking up Eldborg crater and our day trip around Snaefellness. Honestly just rent here. You will be wowed!

Peaceful, two-bedroom cottage on the beach
This cottage is a quiet, clean and somewhat secluded rental by a beach. This rental is good value for money, especially if you are a small family. The location offers opportunities to explore the beach, and is a good base for exploring the nearby Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Services and groceries, etc are in Borgarnes, located about 30 minutes drive south of the cottage.

Amazing views!!
I highly recommend staying at this unique property. After 8 nights traveling the Ring Road this was one of our favorites. The house was spotlessly clean, well appointed, and the hosts couldn't have been nicer. The property looks out on the water, with Icelandic horses and sheep nearby. This was a highlight of our vacation.

Why they chose this property
You can stay away from everything and enjoy the nature peace. But yet so close to everything so it's a perfect place for sightseeing.
