Amazing hikes around Lincoln National Forest, just minutes from the house. White Sands was about 40-45 minutes but it was nice to come back to quiet Cloudcroft. The rooms were perfect for us and our two kids. Plenty of amenities!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Harps Haven in Cloudcroft. We really appreciate the 5 star review, and want you to know that it means a lot to us to have great guests like you, and your family. We look forward to having you back soon.
There was plenty of room for our family of 5. We cooked most of our meals here. We also enjoyed the front porch by eating meals and playing games. The location was great. We spent three nights and visited Ruidoso and White Sands National Park. There is also some great hiking trails close by in Cloudcroft. The only challenge was having only one shower/bathtub. We had to be very strategic in sharing the bathroom with 5 of us. The upstairs had a bathroom with a toilet and sink.Overall this is a great house in a great location. A bonus is that the host left us farm fresh eggs and pistachio bread as a welcome gift.

Weekend fun
Accommodations were great. Property was well kept spacious for 2 kids and parents. Great location great stay would highly recommend and would stay again.
This cabin was everything promised. It was the perfect size for the four of us. We plan to be back.It felt very private and we loved sitting on the porch to listen to the rain on the metal roof.My son walked the Rim Trail and he was able to access it with a short walk from this cabin. The owners were very responsive to the question we asked.

Quick retreat
Fantastic stay. The cabin is lovely and perfect for a stay in the woods. Beautiful surroundings in nature but right next to town. Would stay again and hopefully will soon!
Cabin was cute, convenient and comfortable. Owners left information about local restaurants and activities which helped us plan our time. Best of all were the times we sat on the front porch and watched the deer and elk come to eat. The owners had left some deer corn out, and we bought more. There are other properties near, but because the cabin sits up high and is surrounded by trees, it felt very private. Highly recommend this property.

Great weekend get away
It was small but spacious, very clean, had a convenient location, plenty of cooking space, a good supply of cooking utencils, high quality towels, a clean gas grill, nice outdoor table/chairs, and we loved the wood burning stove. They have fire wood on the porch ready to use. Bring fire starters and enjoy a fire every evening.
We were able to stay in this lovely little mountain home for a spring break trip before the Coronavirus shut everything down. There wasn't much snow the 2nd week of March, but just enough for the kids and dog to enjoy. Ski Cloudcroft closed the day we arrived, but we ended up making the drive up to Ski Apache for a day of skiing. We had a little touble loggin into the wifi, but the propery manager had us sorted quickly. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Nice Cabin, but expensive for what you get
The Cabin is a nice setup, and easy to get to. It has everything you need for the most part but upon opening the cupboards and closets, you can tell the place has not had a deep clean in a long time. There are handprints and dirt up and down the stair walls which gives it a bit of a grimy feel. If the company were to take the time to actually clean good, I would give 4 stars. I took another star off because when booking, you have to pay a cleaning fee, but then when you check in, they give you instructions for cleaning the place so that THEY don't really have to do much, and they say they will charge you more money if you don't take out the trash, do dishes, towels etc. Part of going on vacation should be not having to worry about those things. For $200 a night, I expect better!

Amanda, we're sorry certain aspects of your stay weren't what you expected. As evident in past reviews, this property has never received this kind of feedback previously as cleanliness is of the utmost importance. The property manager inspected the cabin after being informed of your feedback and we can assure you there is no evidence of cleanliness concerns. It's standard in vacation rentals to ask guests to clean up after themselves prior to check-out, but we do not charge guests a fee if they don't. The property manager takes great pride in ensuring a five-star experience for all guests and we are confident this cabin will continue to host many satisfied guests. Best, the Evolve Team

I could live here...
Husband and I stayed here two nights with two 'tween grandchildren and our mid-sized dog. It was perfect in every way - the kids kept saying "you told us a cabin - this is a house!"
This was one of the few properties that REALLY sleeps six in real comfy beds in three real bedrooms - not pullout sofa sleepers or cots. That said, there were two folding cots in the closet to complement the two queens and two twin beds, and the sofa is also an option for additional kiddos or guests. We sincerely appreciate that pets are welcome for a very modest fee. We all especially appreciated the roomy bar plus table and open-concept kitchen area.
The cabin was spotless and well stocked upon arrival with lots of dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. There were even a few pantry staples -- we happily used some of the complete pancake mix, cocoa mix, and rice and left some extra packaged goods in return. Fridge and freezer compartment are to be left empty, so you won't find butter or refrigerated condiments, etc. Family Dollar and Allsups Convenience Store have quite a few basics and quick-fix items if you forget something. A favorite of ours is to bring along refrigerated cookie dough to bake cookies before bedtime.
TV cable had more channels than we even wanted the kids to have, and the Internet worked great. There are quite a few kids books upstairs and a few novels, too. We brought Monopoly and cards. Next time we'll bring a board game to play and leave for others to enjoy.
What we didn't find: no hairdryer and no bath soap, shampoo, or laundry detergent (none of these posed problems for us.) We had plenty of towels, and there was a pump soft soap in the downstairs bath and at the kitchen sink, plus dish and dishwasher detergent.
Some commented the area across the road was "sketchy." I don't know why anyone would say this...the whole immediate area is a cluster of cabins and homes, albeit some more expensive or extravagant than others, on a single-lane paved road that winds upward. The road has a wide outside edge in places they won't accommodate building a residential structure, but there are 4-5 graveled spots with electric hookups offered for RV or travel trailer use. We met a very nice couple from Wyoming staying in one.
We'd heartily recommend this area and this cabin and hope to be back again ourselves!
Really cute place. Probably a bit older, but pretty representative of other properties in the vicinity and well maintained overall. We stayed here for the Thanksgiving holiday and got our immediate family together. Since we were doing a full traditional Thanksgiving feast for 5 adults we used the kitchen more than most guests probably do. We brought a lot of our own accoutrements (which was necessary) but the kitchen was pretty well stocked. Certainly not enough for what WE had planned, but equally certainly more than well enough for the average visitor. Not a lot of supermarket options in the area, so if you're planning on cooking a lot in house, a trip to Alamogordo (or bringing food from home) is probably your best bet. We did both since we drove in from Dallas.
Communication is always a major plus, whether in the business environment, in interpersonal relationships or in a vacation rental. The owners were very communicative and responsive to minor issues and questions. It snowed a significant amount during our stay and the owners offered to come clear out the drive and walkways and put salt down for us, which we gladly accepted the offer, even though we had all wheel drive. The owner had just bought a new tractor. I think he was having fun playing with it in the snow-LOL. It's a cute, homey place with 3 BR (one up 2 down) and 1.5 baths. Another shower would have been ideal but we made do. The place was well maintained and VERY pet friendly (which we needed with our crew) and the owners were just really easy to deal with and genuinely good people. The place is a bit older as mentioned earlier so it has a few little quirks but most homes do, so once you figure out the minutiae its pretty smooth. For example, the silverware drawer drops a bit when opening, which was a bit unnerving at first, but it never fell off the glides. You just have to be mindful of it. My wife and I are in our 50's with grown children. Our youngest and his wife live in Alamogordo, so we'll be visiting as often as scheduling allows. If this place is available we'd stay again for sure! That's the bottom line with any stay I think whether it's a conventional hotel or vacation rental.
This house is a residence and has everything one needs for a pleasant 4 day stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are comfortable and there are various places to sit outdoors. My reason for not giving the place 4 stars is the terrible communication Evolve provides. They did send me the address but on the day of our arrival I was as attempting to find out the code to enter. Waiting for information for 40 minutes is unacceptable. Keith the local manager iin Cloudcroft was extremely personable and helpful. VRBO should deal directly with local people not huge rental firms that rent all over the country. I had the same experience in Chicago in July.
Great home that we used as a getaway from the heat. Great location where the ladies could easily get into town and the men could hit the dirt bike trails. House contained everything we needed and more.
