The Drop Anchor Inn is a quaint, little house in a great location. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, tea, coffee, and some basics. The view is nice and the house sits below the street so traffic noise is minimal. The host is also great! There are stairs that will take you to the waterfront, but the shrubbery is overgrown and it was a little tough getting through. The antique furnishings are aesthetically pleasing, but not very comfortable. There is no dishwasher or washing machine so plan accordingly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but a bed and sofa upgrade would make this a 5 star location.

Very comfortable place to rest while in Kodiak

Close to downtown, right on the channel, beautiful views, essentials many other home owners won’t provide to out-of-town/state renters such as sugar, paper towels, napkins… even grains, homemade jam and packets of oatmeal. Very comfortable home, quiet neighborhood with frequent passes by seals and sea otters. Loved it and would highly recommend.

This was the exact vacation rental that I was looking for. Looking over the channel, watching the seals and listening to the buoy bell ring as the ships went by created a serene and relaxing atmosphere with our morning coffee. Thank you for being so accommodating with my early arrival. Wendy was excellent in extending her willingness to help us with anything that we needed during our stay. This Inn was the perfect location to town, the farmer's market, any other excursions that we had planned, and made for a great place to unwind after a fun filled day. I really feel that I got lucky finding this property! It was Amazing and just what I needed!

The property is very well maintained. Everything is neat and tidy and clean. Ample supplies for our 10 day stay. The host and housekeeper both were very accommodating. We've been to Kodiak 3 times now. As much as I loved the other place we stayed, this one is the best.Kitchen is well equipped, including some spices. They left us plenty of coffee (we love our coffee)The queen bed was super comfy. There's plenty of hot water. The view is outstanding!! Coffee out there almost every morning and evening. There was a group of seals the first 4 days, then nothing, then we have a frequent baby seal ever since.Beautiful bird watching with the provided binoculars.I love the basket of slippers that are provided so floors stay cleaner. (I brought my own though)I can't wait to come back to this oasis!

Tho I am originally from Seattle, I have lived on Kodiak Island since 1978. 42 of those years were spent at what is now a 103 year old homestead, 70 miles down the west side of the island. A subsistance lifestyle has taught me a multitude of skills, but computer skills is not one of them!

Why they chose this property

When you book this property, you will understand why I chose this location.

What makes this property unique

This property is located above a small neighborhood park along the water's edge, accessed by private stairs.
You can enjoy morning coffee on the deck while watching boats come and go, as well as seals, sea lions, water foul and occasional whales, all from the comfort of this delightful home.
Just a 2 minute walk from the park below the house is the best restaurant in town, open for lunch and dinner, as well as the most scenic coffee shop, offering tasty treats, if you choose not to stay in for morning coffee.
