RC Hill Farmhouse with a serene, private setting on the Coupeville prairie.
Return to simpler times, stay in the Historic R.C. Hill Farmhouse. It is a unique property, nestled amongst 80 acres of farmland. The farmhouse was built in 1865 and is 1 of the oldest homes still standing in Coupeville. We have restored this home with "gathering of family" in mind. Inside this old house you will find everything located on the main floor, living room, bathrooms, laundry room, dinning room, and 2 bedrooms. The upper floor contains 3 bedrooms and a reading nook. The farmhouse kitchen was created with entertaining in mind, it has 2 ovens, with a large eat-in kitchen and additional dinning room. Outside you will find a private yard where your only neighbors are the cows. Located just outside the kitchen, is the spacious patio, provided for you is a BBQ and fire pit. Relax in the yard and watch the cows, roast smores or study the stars. This farmhouse is the perfect location located just a short drive from the Coupeville Ferry, Ft. Casey forts and the town Coupeville. Close enough for a walk to the Beach or a hike of Ebey’s bluff. Numerous trailheads are nearby and take you on a hike around the prairie where you can take in spectacular views. Cyclists will love this location too, as it provides great access to scenic rides, or short rides to the beginning of Mt. Biking trails.

Awesome location! Extremely private and beautiful scenery. Mary and her family went out of their way to help us meet some of their cows during our stay. Very comfortable rooms and fun house features.
I cannot give this place enough stars, it was so well stocked with everything you could imagine needing. If you want a very clean space with all the little touches this is the place. We all loved the history displayed throughout, we cannot wait to stay again. Thank you for sharing your wonderful property
We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our time on the farm! The owners were so generous and came out to help us have a meet and greet with the sweet cows and our granddaughter. The area is so peaceful and was the perfect place for our large family to connect. The beach is literally minutes away and the sunsets are gorgeous! The owners thought of everything!!! We have stayed in so many rental properties across the country – and this is by far one of our favorites!
Our family has been farming Coupeville since 1852. As a heritage Farmer, Bob continues his families tradition, diversifying his market as times change, currently growing crops like cabbage seed, barley, alfalfa orchard mixed hays, and beets. He also oversees the cattle operation, managing 150 head of cows. It's a family affair, our kids have been showing cattle since the age of 8 and mom, Mary was a 4H leader for many years, and helps out on the farm as she can. Mary has been actively involved in our local community for over 31 years, serving our citizens in many different positions in Island County.
Why they chose this property
Restoration of the Historic RC hill farmhouse was in honor of Bob's mom and her sisters who were raised in this home. This Farmhouse was built in 1865 and in 2024 the Engle's began restoration of the old home. The work was a labor of love, restoring the original fir floors and adding insulation to the interior walls, we were careful not to loose all its unique characteristics, but updated it just enough with modern day items. You can read about our journey when you stay in the home. Although it was a lot of hard work, we have been the lucky ones to get to restore it.
What makes this property unique
1 of 12 original Historic homes left in Coupeville built before the 1900's. Over 80 acres of farmland surrounds this home, with no other homes nearby. Serene and peaceful, with lots of room for kids to run around, and to experience farm life. Watch the calves playing in the field, see a cow calf/give birth, see the bull's as they round up the herd and migrate them from field to field each day. You might even get a chance to pet or feed the cows. Reach out to us if you would like to experience this during your stay.
