Large family home near North Lake Tahoe beaches & ski areas - Rhapsody Lodge
Rhapsody Lodge's living room has wood paneling, a wooden beamed ceiling, a gas fireplace, plenty of comfortable seating, a large flat-screen TV, board games, books, and a record player to play your favorite albums to get the dance party started.
Two bedrooms, including the master, are upstairs. The master bedroom has a deck, a walk-in closet, a recliner, and a free-standing gas stove. The bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub. At the top of the stairs is a small TV loft perfect for kids' movie nights. At the base of the stairs is a study which has a couch and a desk and is connected to a 1/2 bathroom.
The two downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower and tub combo. The back bedroom is a captured bedroom, but it does have its own outside entrance/exit. There is a small vestibule connecting the two rooms and the bathroom. All four bedrooms have closets, dressers & nightstands.
The large kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, small appliances, tableware, and utensils. It also has a gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The dining table seats eight comfortably. Don't all parties all end up in the kitchen?!! Off the kitchen is the laundry room with a washer and dryer.
The large fenced yard has a hot tub on the deck, BBQ, picnic tables, and a badminton court. Ping-pong, corn hole, darts, and other gear can be found in the 2-car garage. We have had many a "Tahoe-lympics" in the driveway, so may your best sportsperson win!!
We have a 2-car garage and driveway spots for 3 cars. During the winter season you must have AWD, 4x4 or chains. Roads can be shut down without warning so have backup plans ready. Also, snow plowing will require some adjustment of parked cars.
There is a TART stop within 2 blocks at Hwy. 28 at Pino Grande Avenue. Tahoe Connect also offers rides for free.
Our neighborhood consists of mostly long-time owners and residents. North Tahoe Regional Park is a 2 minute drive and has many free activities including baseball & soccer fields, disc golf course, playground and picnic areas. You can reserve a tennis or pickleball court or, if you like zip-lining and taking risks, take on Tahoe Treetop Adventures.
For summer days at the lake, Agatam Beach and Moon Dunes are walking distance from the house, and Kings Beach is less than 2 miles down the road. All three are wonderful sandy beaches great for relaxing, swimming, kayaking, SUP’ing, jet skiing and more.
Northstar Resort is a 10 minute drive and offers snow sports in the winter, and golf and horseback riding in the spring and summer. Palisades and Diamond Peak ski resorts are a bit longer drive but are both excellent ski areas.
Old Brockway Golf Course is a two minute drive and our favorite spot to golf. You can’t beat the views and a post-round drink at Spindleshanks is a must!

Our stay at the Rhapsody Lodge was perfect. Everything you would want while staying at a house around Lake Tahoe! The house is very cozy, plenty of room with queen beds in four separate rooms! The living room was great to relax in while playing games around the fireplace. The kitchen was large enough to comfortably accommodate 8 of us while we enjoyed our kitchen made meals. We soaked in the clean and ready-2-go hot tub on the patio. We had fun playing darts in the garage. And even saw a bear walking around the neighborhood! We spent the day at the North Star resort, so this place was ideal as it was within 20 minutes driving. All of these amenities are topped off with a classic lakeside, cabin-in-the-woods charm with the many beautiful decorations and adornments that accent the house inside. I would definitely come back here! Gary was a wonderful host and made the check-in and check-out procedure exceptionally easy.

About the host
Hosted by Gary Barmore
Marti and Gary are retired professionals with children and grandchildren; our primary residence is in Orange County. I enjoy fresh air, by way of classic convertibles, sailing & tennis. I like to read non-fiction, while Marti is active in good causes. We love our Lake Tahoe home "Rhapsody Lodge" -- for our own get-aways as well as meticulously preparing it for guests to this majestic and magical alpine setting.
Why they chose this property
We discovered Tahoe Vista when Marti's brother and his family moved there over 30 years ago. It wasn't long before Gary & Marti fell in love with a Tahoe-style home of their own on the North Shore! Gary liked the large garage and Marti liked the spacious kitchen. They added a second story in 1999 and have added other rooms and many amenities to provide comfort for their family and guests. While they still live in southern California, they visit their beloved second home regularly to enjoy and maintain its pristine condition. As for renting it to guests, Gary likes to tell people, "It's like we're running a Bed-and-Breakfast, but we're just not there to fix breakfast!"
What makes this property unique
We do really try to make it a home away from home. A place families or groups of friends can come and feel at ease.
