About this property
Luxury Estate with Mountain View and Privacy
Welcome to Zion Abode, a 5300sf luxury estate on 10 acres, 1 mile from Massanutten Resort and 15 mins from Shenandoah National Park. The views are spectacular from all angles. This “HGTV-worthy” home is professionally designed with high end finishes throughout. The patio features a hot tub, barrel sauna, covered seating and dining area, and firepit. With 7 bedrooms (4 masters), Zion Abode sleeps 16. Plus, pet friendly! Managed by Chris at New School Hosting.
Zion Abode is a truly peaceful space, with great privacy and unobstructed mountain views all around (no neighboring homes between you and your view!). The house is about a 2 minute drive to the entrance of Massanutten, which features ski slopes, a year-round indoor/outdoor waterpark, golf courses, spa, mini golf / go carts, and more. Note: Massanutten is open to the public, so anyone can utilize their facilities and amenities (for a fee, of course).
The Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park is 15 minutes away with some of the best hiking on the east coast. JMU and everything else in Harrisonburg is 25 minutes away, and there are several breweries, wineries, and restaurants within 15 minutes of the house.
The home layout is as follows:
Main level:
- Living room with three distinct seating areas, double sided electric fireplace, and smart TV
- Dining area with seating for 10, plus 2 more can fit at the bar in the adjoining kitchen.
- Chef’s kitchen with Thermador oversized gas range with dual ovens, massive refrigerator / freezer, wine fridge, 2 sinks, and custom cabinetry
- BR1: Master bedroom with massive Vermont king bed (8’ square), smart TV, in-room soaker tub, and ensuite full bathroom with custom rainfall shower. The bedroom also has a loft area with additional twin bed, mini fridge, and additional smart TV.
- BR2: Master bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom with soaker tub, dual vanities, and tile shower.
- BR3: Master bedroom (train theme) with queen bed and ensuite bathroom with tile shower

- BR5: Queen bedroom with smart TV. Note: no ensuite bathroom. Half bath is nearby, or hallway full bath is downstairs
- Half bath
- Deck with custom-built oversized bench, facing the mountains
Lower level:
- Outdoor patio with hot tub, barrel sauna, wood burning solo stove firepit, oversized pergola covering outdoor dining for 12 plus a cozy couch area around propane fire table, and propane grill (propane provided for grill and fire table, wood and/or wood pellets provided for solo stove)
- Additional living room / game room with smart TV, ping pong, foosball
- Additional full kitchen with oven/stove, sink, dishwasher, and Sub-Zero refrigerator
- Dining area for 4
- BR6: Queen bedroom
- BR7: Bunk bedroom with twin-over-queen bed, with arcade machine
- Full bath with tile shower
- Two separate laundry areas, each with full size front-loading machines
Other things to know:
- Zion Abode is pet friendly! We allow up to 4 pets with a $200 pet fee (total, not per pet or per night).
- We provide our guests $1500 of coverage for accidental damage to the property or its contents. The cost of this is already embedded in the cleaning fee.
- Massanutten offers hiking, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, dining, spa, ropes course / zip line, golfing, go carts, mini golf, and much more.
- The driveway is flat and very large, and can accommodate 10+ vehicles.
- Wifi is fast with a strong signal throughout the house and decks. Two bedrooms, plus both the upstairs and downstairs living rooms, feature a smart TV where you can access all the main streaming services.
- We provide a fully stocked coffee bar with multiple coffee drip and Keurig options.
- Linens and towels provided.
- Pack n play, high chair, and kid dishes/utensils provided.
- We do require a separate rental agreement, which we will send a link to e-sign after you book. There are no additional fees beyond those listed here.
- Events will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Feel free to reach out to us with the nature of your event, the number of attendees expected during the day, and the number of overnight guests expected.
Tips for a Happy Hot Tub
- Be sure to unclip the hot tub cover before removing it.
- Please do not put anything besides people in the hot tub (like mulch or toys).
- If the water level doesn’t cover the jets, you can use the hose to add water. Please disconnect the hose when done, especially in cold weather when it could freeze.
- Always put the cover on the hot tub when not in use - this keeps the hot tub warm & filled with water. Using the plastic clips helps keep it from blowing off.
- For safety reasons, please don’t add chemicals to the hot tub yourself. If the water looks murky or has a smell, let us know, and we'll have our hot tub expert come by to treat it.
- Do not drain the hot tub.
- There's no need to turn off the hot tub. It may run the jets on low periodically to circulate water through the filter—that’s totally normal.
- Use plastic drinkware around the hot tub.
