The house has beautiful views of the ocean in kitchen, living area and upstairs bedroom. Charming!

The house had beautiful views of the ocean and was very close to the beach. We were very comfortable and found the kitchen perfect for a family vacation.

Lovely property

The house was lovely, well kept up, and very comfortable. Idyllic setting with a large porch looking out onto the surf. The kitchen is very well supplied for anyone wishing to cook. The home owners are very responsive to any questions or problems. A hot tub on a separate deck was an added benefit. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a lovely beach week!

Million dollar view

My husband, our three kids and family dog had an amazing vacation at "A Sea Dream". The views are spectacular and we basically had the beach behind the home all to ourselves. We have a special needs son and the convenience to be able to come inside when needed was essential. The home is lovely and has ample space. The owners were very accommodating, friendly and communicated perfectly...not too much and not too little. There is shopping, mini- golf and restaurants but it's not overwhelming. The home was well stocked...among our favorites a gas stove with griddle and a waffle maker. AND DONT FORGET THE MILLION DOLLAR VIEW! Our family will never forget this vacation full of blessings, fun and bonding. Thank you, Julie and Ken!

Ocean Dreamers

Our Family of four, two pets and my sister and her husband had the most wonderful, relaxing week at a Sea Dream the week of May 11, 2013 to May 18. Sunny in the upper 70's and 80's & no rain We didn't want to leave! The photos in the listing accuratly reflect the ocean front home perfectly. The Sea Dream was clean and well-maintained with gorgeous views of both the ocean and sound from the many windows and decks. We could almost throw a rock into the ocean from the 2 ocean side decks, we were so close. We enjoyed the hot tub every day. It was so relaxing! The owners were very helpful with all concerns in a timley fashion. They went out of thier way with all kinds of information regarding things to do, charter fishing, shopping and so much more! Thank You For The Wonderful Vacation. Looking forward to our next visit to the Crystal Coast and the Sea Dream.

Great family beach house

We were looking for a large (6 bedroom) family friendly beach house and we were happy with our choice. I feel like I should first address the previous reviews referring to "rats" and roaches. We saw no rats, mice, roaches or anything of the kind. We did have some ants in the kitchen but we have never been to a beach house without having a few ants. Our five to seven year olds LOVED the bunk room and played down there whenever we weren't on the beach or eating. Unfortunately, it stormed a bit during our stay and that room was a lifesaver. The beach is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed the hot tub as well. The kitchen is large and very well stocked. The new washer and dryer are spectacular. Julie and Ken are very accommodating and came right over when we had a problem. (kids locked themselves out of the bunk room). We will choose this beach house again.

Poor upkeep, unsafe conditions, out-of-date tasteless decor

The only thing this house has going for it is the beach out front. Maintenance was urgently needed throughout: the refrigerator leaked unidentified liquids across the kitchen floor, the a/c couldn't keep up, construction waste was left on the lower deck, the hot tub was disgustingly dirty and uncovered (completely treacherous for 3 y.o. in our group). One of the outside stairs was held together with tape! One hole in the wall was patched with tar paper! Exposed electrical boxes, roaches and ants, damp towels with mold were left out on our bed, the list goes on. B/c of previous responses we had seen on this site, and their unwillingness to help, we chose not to contact the owners during our stay. I have rented many, many VRBO properties in the past and this one was so far below sub-standards, it needs to be removed from the VRBO representation. It risks giving other VRBO properties a very bad reputation. If the owners are reading this, they should be ashamed. If potential renters are reading this, they should consider themselves warned. And if the local permit council is reading this, they should shut this house down for fire and safety code violations.

AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!! Clean Close to the beach

OMG Where do I begin !!!!!!!!!!!! Our family consisted of 6adults and 3kids. The house is even closer to the beach then the pictures show !!!!!!!!!!!! It's important to me to have a bed and space at the dinner table for each person and this house has it. My 2 younger grandsons 4 and 8 loved the bunkroom !!!!!!!! My 13 year 0ld grandson loved his privacy in his own room too. There was easy access to the beach just steps away and we used it multiple times a day !!!!!!!!!!!!! The kitchen has more glasses pots ,pans ,dinnerware , and silver wear, that we could load the dish washer at dinner and again at breakfast and only had to run the dishwasher once. The extra refrigerator was a god send !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had friends staying at a condo further down the beach who joined us for dinner and had no problem fitting 8 extra people in. They asked for the house info and we gladly gave the info to all 3 couples. The house was spotless !!!!!!!!!!!!! not a grain of sand anywhere. We are planning to use this house again. Thank you Julie and Ken for a wonderful memory filled vacation !!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeana

Not as advertised!

Owners are nice. House is large to accommodate many ppl. However, the windows leaked (& it rains everyday in the summer in Eastern NC). Maybe due to the rotten wood around the windows (??). My family had to set bowls out to collect the dripping water. There was also an issue with the A/C leaking on the tile floor, hazards for slipping. Owners said a HVAC tech would be out, no tech ever showed. There are many pigeons living in the attic. There were missing smoke detectors from the bases. We left early because more rain was in the forecast and staying wasn’t worth the hassle. Had it not rained (but it does everyday in Eastern NC) the leaking windows would not have probably been an issue. But it is an ongoing issue that is clearly visible and the owners know about, but keep renting. I asked for a partial refund. Owners refused saying it wasn’t per agreement. But yet, the leaking windows, missing smoke detectors, pigeons in the attic, and a/c leak weren’t part of the agreement either!

Great week.

My family stayed here the week of the 4th of July 2018. We had a great time. The house is conducive to large families. The girls enjoyed the down stairs bedroom. The views of the ocean and sound are spectacular. The kitchen is up to date with new appliances and well stocked. The house is in need of some tender loving care, birds in the attic, but we overlooked those things and had a wonderful time. The owners were very nice.

What a wonderful vacation home for a large family!

We truly had the vacation of a lifetime! Our large family of 14 had such a wonderful time in your home. The space fit us perfectly, your kitchen is so well appointed (yay second fridge!),the ability to dine at one table, and the way we could all have our own bedrooms and spread out was ideal (the kids room with bunk beds housed our six children perfectly). The oceanfacing hot tub, insanely close beach access, and amazing views spoiled us every day. When we had an issue with the sliding glass door handle and the bbq, the owners responded within an hour and were at the home to make necessary repairs the very next morning. I was continuously impressed with the fast response time to all concerns we may have had during our stay. Emerald Isle has become a favorite beach to visit in NC because of this trip, and we are already planning for when we can return. Thank you for a wonderful vacation experience!

Great Easter Vacation

The rooms were large and there was plenty of room for our many family members. The owners are replacing the appliances with up-to-date new models. The house needs a bit of 'elbow grease'. The owners were open to quickly responding to our needed issues. You cannot beat the view and the location. The bottom floor largest room with the 2 twin bed sets and two twin beds was a favorite place for our grandchildren to sleep. We felt the kitchen needed some editing. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to our next vacation on Bogue Banks.

One of the best vacations ever!

Don’t fret over the not quite perfect exterior of this home. When you walk through the front door you are greeted with a cheerful, charming, and COMFORTABLE house, situated just steps from the beach. The home is really spacious, and the views out of the numerous windows are spectacular. In the two weeks that we stayed at Sea Dream, we were treated to both sunrise and sunset views, because of the prime location. In addition, there is a sound view from the front windows. It is equipped much better than our own kitchen, and there was virtually nothing that we needed that wasn’t available. There is plenty of unusually comfortable seating (two leather reclining sofas plus a reclining chair, besides several other sitting areas), very nice bedding, and a huge master bath. My husband and I were joined for several days of our trip by two other family members, and they also thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Because our trip was in December, it was a bit chilly most days, but we didn’t mind, because there is a nice wood-burning fireplace in the main living area that we took full advantage of. (Wood was available for sale at the nearby Food Lion.) On the warmer days we were able to sit out on the huge expanse of decking, where we watched dolphins and pelicans galore. We would definitely go back and would recommend this home to others. Although the two (and part of the time, four) of us didn’t really need that much space, it still suited us, but would be ideal for a large group. Thanks, Julie and Ken, for allowing us to use your lovely home for a fantastic vacation! Jeanie and Ed Harris Slidell, LA

Great Multi-family House with awesome view!!!

We stayed at A Sea Dream for the week of Thanksgiving and could not have chosen a better property to accommodate us! The house was furnished very nicely...beautiful and very comfortable new living room furniture. Great quality sheets and the beds made upon our arrival was a real plus!! It was, by far, the best stocked kitchen of any rental I have stayed in before. There was nothing missing and multiple of everything!!! We had all and more that was needed to cook our Thanksgiving dinner for 12. The kids room was wonderful and our grandchildren loved it!! This house has so much to offer with all the outside seating, hot tub, and just steps away from the beach!! We truly appreciate all Ken & Julie have done to make their beach home so comfortable and accommodating for their guests. We hope to return to A Sea Dream again!!!

Great house

We had a great week at emerald isle! This house is wonderful. The kitchen is amazingly stocked with all kinds of dishes and appliances. The beds are made when you get there! The hot tub is wonderful. It's just steps from the beach. The outside shower is great especially for kids so you don't have to track wet sandy little ones through the house. We had 6 kids that all could stay together in the kid room downstairs and they loved it. My one suggestion would be to either fix or mark the little lip that goes from the main deck to the stairs off to the left. We had several stubbed toes from it. Maybe paint it or put some reflective tape there to warn of the little step. We had a fabulous time!

Home is not new anymore as in pictures, but we still had a fabulous time being Oceanfront!

We were extremely nervous due to a few bad reviews, but we ended up having a nice week. We reported a broken door handle upon our arrival. Although it did take a few days for the owners to come out, they were super nice and fixed the problem when they came. They even went a step above and beyond returning later that night with an item from a store we thought was closed. They definitely did not have to do that. (Thank you, it was very appreciated!) There are lots of pros and cons to this home, but the price is cheaper than most large oceanfront homes, so you get what you pay for. The home is definitely a lot more weathered than in pictures, but it is still nice. The carpets were clean and did not smell. The house in general was clean and we did not see ants until a pizza was left for about 2 hours after dinner on the counter. We then kept kitchen spotless and food in containers, and all was fine. All windows looking out to the water were clear. The hot tub was clean when we arrived, but after a day or two was by nature, filled with nats. I do agree with other posts that a cover would be a good investment for the owners; but it was still enjoyed. The beach and views were amazing!!!! The home has qualities and faults, but it fit our family size and budget for a nice vacation. So, if you are looking for a home to fit a few families at a good price and can overlook the cosmetic features, this home will work for you.

Dream family vacation at Sea Dream

We had a wonderful stay at Sea Dream after a somewhat rocky start. I logged into my account to review the set up of the bedrooms and saw a not too favorable review with many specific issues about the house. I reached out to Julie with a very specific list of things I wanted her to address before our arrival. It was the Wednesday before we were to arrive Saturday. She was back in touch within the hour and told me " not to worry". We arrived on Saturday to find every request met! We enjoyed the hot tub! The shower on the walkway from the beach was fabulous for a thorough rinse off. But, the outside shower was great to "feel one with nature!" The house itself has some age on it, but is well appointed and the kitchen is very well equipped with virtually every appliance you could ask for! We did have an issue with the refrigerator - but, when we emailed Julie she responded almost immediately. She and Kenny came out soon after to offer a quick fix that held the rest of the week. The location IS spectacular with a short walkway to the beach - that was plenty empty to feel relaxed and make it feel like it was your private beach! It was a great week!

Won't Stay Here Again

Things we wish we knew before renting: the carpet in the main living room and landing smells like animal urine with noticeable stain marks. The basement was swampy with noticeable condensation on the walls and worms on the floor of the bedroom. Those conditions made the children's bunk room inhabitable. The children's room also had a back door leading to the under deck area of the home, making easy access to or from that room at any time. We arrived on Saturday, realized the hot tub was out of order on Sunday but were not able to use it until Tuesday of vacation, accounting for repair and re-heating time. If you stay, insist that the owners ensure this is properly working before you arrive because it takes 24 hours to heat and does not have a cover (allowing heat to escape quickly also). The house does not come with any spare cleaning products or supplies, so be sure to stop on your way to the house for the basics: toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher soap, paper towels, etc. The home itself has some pretty decent wear and tear, and other areas that look neglected, like the outdoor shower that is being used as trash bin storage. There are two grills on a deck but only one works properly. The fire alarm in the basement went off because the basement was so humid, so we just had to remove the alarm from the all. There are no trash bins in any of the bathrooms so you must walk your trash to the kitchen (unless you travel with trash bins that you can place). The upstairs balcony door is not sealed well so wind whistled through the door constantly. The hoses to and from the beach did not work when we arrived.

Memorable Family Thanksgiving Trip at "A Sea Dream"

Julie, who is the owner of this home, was so vey accommodating from the moment I reached out to her to inquire about her home. She worked with me to ensure that I was happy with the rental terms, even allowing me to bring two dogs (I decided to leave them both home) but thought that her gesture was very kind. The view from this home is just spectacular! The back of the home has just been updated with new windows and we had such a clear view of the ocean, It also looked like the deck was recently updated. The home was very spacious and fit our family of 13 perfectly with plenty of room to spare. We had a couple of beds that went unused as that is how spacious this home is. The kids slept in the bottom floor room which is just perfect! There is room for 6 kids and they very much enjoyed having their freedom from the adults and we enjoyed the quiet upstairs while they were having a fun time downstairs. We used the hot tub only once and it was very nice. The kitchen had everything and anything needed to cook any type of meal including Thanksgiving! I don't recall the last time I saw a kitchen so stocked! We brought our BBQ with us, but Julie had one at the property and even provided the propane, next time the BBQ is one less item we need to bring with us. The kitchen table, held all 13 of us, we had to pull over a few extra chairs, but we loved that we were all able to sit at the same table each night for dinner. The fireplace in the living room allowed us to relax even more while enjoying the comfortable couches. Nice TV in living room, along with cable and WIFI in the house which is a huge deal when you have several kids.

Great location, beautiful view from deck but windows filmed over, safety and health concerns

We arrived a little after 3:00 and the owners were still in the home finishing up the clean-up. They seemed like nice people and it was nice to chat a bit with them. The layout of the house was great for our family with 5 kids, 8 adults and a dog. One of the main selling points for me was the supposed great view of the beach from inside the house. Unfortunately the windows were coated with salt and dirt from broken seals. The owners said they had the windows but had not had them installed yet. The view from all the rooms with windows on the seaside were obscured so there were no great views as advertised. Luckily, we had beautiful weather and could get out on the deck and on the beach a lot. Some of the issues a previous reviewer had mentioned have been fixed but others have not. The railings on the inside stairs are still quite wobbly and there is a gap my 3 year old granddaughter could have fallen through...really scary! There is new deck flooring on the main deck but there is a large gap between the boards and the house. The doggie gates are still about useless. The chairs on the deck outside the master bedroom are not usable. The mesh fabric on one of the lounge chairs was torn off on one side and the others looked dry rotted. The tables and chairs otherwise were fine. The grill came as promised with gas which was nice and worked well. It was filthy though and we didn't find a brush or grilling utensils. The downstairs rooms were musty but I guess that should be expected at the beach. Some of the overhead lights didn't work (tried the bulbs with no luck). The washer and dryer worked well. Mid week, the owners informed us men would be coming to repair a leak in the roof around a vent in the master bedroom. The occupants of that room had not wanted to tell me that it was leaking after some rain. Luckily we did not have a lot of rain because there did appear to be leaking still after the men had done their "repair." Much to our disgust, the rats are still there. There is a big hole in the floor next to the sliding glass door which may be an entry point. They ate holes in baby bottle nipples, peanut cans, avocados in a deep glass bowl on top of the refrigerator, our dog food bin, bag of coffee, our cooler, a plastic bin we had food in and more. Ants were quite a problem as well. This house has great potential but needs lots of work.

A Sea Nightmare

Emerald Isle is fantastic. The beach and water were fantastic. But be warned, the pictures of "A Sea Dream" do not accurately portray the condition of this home. This rental home has been neglected and you will be disappointed. I could write multiple pages of complaints and supply lots of details but I’ll get straight to the point with a concise list of problems with the place: - Deck needs major repairs. Rusty nails sticking up, loose/rotten boards, and loose railings - Rodent problem (rat traps in the house, and we found a rat in the gas grill) - Water damage in many spots in the house. Excess moisture on the bottom floor - Roof leaked water into upstairs bedroom while we were there - Dryer does not work, most likely due to obstruction of vent - Loose stair railings inside - Mold in the showers and sewer odor in downstairs bathroom - Outside shower has rotten boards and exposed electrical switch with no face plate - Mildew and rotten animal odors in the bottom floor. Air fresheners used in a pathetic attempt to conceal odor. - Dog gate that was advertised is in tatters and not functioning - Hot tub worked but the cover was all busted up and needs to be replaced - Carpets and floors were disgusting and in need of cleaning - Insufficient smoke detectors. No carbon monoxide detectors - Cannot see the beach from the hot tub as advertised - Ant infestation - Screen door in bunk room was missing handle and could not be opened - In general the house is just beat up This house could be nice but the owners have evidently neglected the place for many, many years and they don’t seem to care. In my opinion, as someone who owns rental properties, this house should not be rented to guests in the current condition as it has considerable potential health and safety hazards. I strongly advise you to find another place to stay. The only reason I gave two stars for Overall and Experience were because Emerald Isle itself is very nice and the beach is nice. If the review system would have let me, the place would have got zero stars.

Wonderful week at the beach!

Our family had a great time here, four families with kids between the ages of 2 to 19. We loved being so close to the beach and having all the comforts of home. The short walk to the water made it easy to come and go without it being a project, we'd set up chairs and umbrellas in the morning and leave them up til the end of the day. We did have a set of walkie talkies that worked out really well for calling people for dinner etc, plus we had almost constant funny conversations with them so they were well worth it. The house is very well kept and accommodated our large family gathering. Loved (needed) two full sized refrigerators and the huge dinning table. The views are amazing from the living areas, decks and most of the bedrooms. The only issues we had were with the deck needing some work, had to make sure the little ones wore shoes up there and we could have used more hot water. I wasn't surprised we kept running out with so many people but I would recommend those tankless hot water heaters for a future upgrade. The owners were very helpful and responsive when we had questions.

Best vacation ever!!!

My family and I had an amazing time at A Sea Dream! The owner stopped by to check the hot tub and he was very nice! All three floors were beautiful! The deck space and deck furniture was perfect! Even my 95 year old grandmother had a wonderful time! We had 5 generations there and made some wonderful memories! God is good!

Wonderful family reunion

We had a fantastic week here. There was plenty of room to spread out and the views from the kitchen/dining room/living room were tremendous. Direct access to the beach meant the kids could come and go without worry and no long schleps to the beach. We literally set up beach camp at 8am and didn't break it down til dinner time. We had quite a few water toys (boards, kayaks etc) and the under deck storage was secure and out of the elements. We had one small dog with us and he was easily contained on the large 2nd floor deck when he wasn't on the beach with us. All in all, a great place for all our needs.

Our 7th Beach house rental, and this one is in our top two favorites!

We rented this property for a family gathering after our youngest son's college graduation. There were four married couples, our recent grad, my mother-in-law, and two babies (newborn and one crawling/beginning to walk): ten adults and two children. This was a wonderful house for making memories with our family! As I began looking through VRBO beachfront houses in the size needed, this one caught my eye because of its bright colors, beach decor, good-sized deck, open floor plan, large DR table, and easy access to the beach. The LR had plenty of seating, and the kitchen was well-equipped and even had two refrigerators. There was a problem with the stove, but the owners responded quickly and had a new one delivered promptly. Speaking of the owners, all of our interaction with them by email and phone was pleasant and helpful. If we're ever renting a beach house in this area again, we will definitely see if this one's available! We do have a few suggestions, but they in no way keep us from wanting to return to this house. The salt air quickly builds up on the windows, hindering the view. My husband used the hose on the beachside windows, but not on the front. There's a large, beautiful window there that we passed each time we came downstairs from the upper level, but a clearer view would have made that even more enjoyable. The buildup comes off pretty easily with a hose, so would be nice to have this done before each rental. The upper level bedrooms have a definite advantage as far as view and brightness. Because of the dunes, etc., the lower level bedrooms tend to be dark. Only in that part of the house did we notice any damp feel, so a dehumidifier down there would be a plus. One night when we attempted to use the jacuzzi in the master bathroom, it ran out of hot water before the water covered the jets; this may have been due to showers taken earlier. If you're looking for a house that's near stores, activities, etc., this one is a bit of a drive. We were looking for a beach house where we could largely relax, enjoy the family, and have fun on the beach and in the ocean, so this one was perfect for us. We did do some sightseeing. The guys went golfing one morning and the girls went to the picturesque town of Beaufort for shopping and lunch. Later in the day, some of us took a boat ride out to Shackleford Island to see the wild horses that live there--definitely something we'd love to do again. We had a WONDERFUL time at this rental!

Beach Wedding

We loved the house, it was perfect for my son's wedding, plenty of room with a great location and wonderful views. The grandchildren loved the beach and it was nice to watch them playing from the deck(s). The beach wedding went great and everyone who came to the wedding also loved the house. Thank you so much for all your help with planning our vacation and your wedding ideas.
