This house was perfect for our family vacation! The private beach was beautiful, with soft sand, clear water, and a shallow area where you could walk out quite a ways without it getting too deep.The house had everything we needed, from a well-equipped kitchen to water toys for the kids to enjoy. It truly made our stay comfortable and enjoyable.We would definitely recommend this house to anyone traveling to Beaver Island! Since the house is located on the south side of the island, we would recommend bringing your car over on the ferry so you can easily explore everything the island has to offer.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about our stay. Everything far exceeded our expectations! The home was incredibly well stocked with kitchen supplies, beach towels, watercraft items and other thoughtful touches. Marcia was so kind and welcoming. We traveled with four adults and six teens/pre-teens and it was the perfect set-up. There was plenty of space and the kids had so much fun! The location cannot be beat. The lake views are so beautiful! We very highly recommend this home!

We had an incredible time at Hemlock Haven, a comfortable place with everything you would ever need for a great time. Fully stocked kitchen, incredible assortment of games and activities, and all the watercraft you would ever want. Hosts were also very responsive. We would stay here again anytime. Thank you!

Idyllic get-away!

From the moment our large family walked into Hemlock Haven, we were pleasantly surprised by all of the attention to detail, with the new and fresh furnishings, the gorgeous new kitchen with anything you could need to cook during your stay, the new full-sized washer and dryer, fluffy white towels, the beautiful kayaks and fishing poles, and so much more. We recommend bringing your car over on the ferry for the 25-minute drive between the cottage and St James for groceries, restaurants or coffee, or to tour the island. We had the privilege of meeting Joe and Marcia, and instantly liked them. They really have invested in this property to give guests the best stay possible, and went out of their way to help us when we had rental car issues. We look forward to returning in the future with our kids and grandkids.

This location was everything we’d hoped for and more. Before booking, I was worried about packing for a trip like this. How much stuff would we need to haul to be comfortable in such a remote place? Honestly, though, you can show up with the bare minimum because Marcia and Joe have thought of everything. From stocking the kitchen (Coffee! Sugar! Olive oil!) to soap and conditioner in the shower, and from internet and fishing poles to kayaks, life jackets, and towels (beach and bathroom), this property is amazing and well-loved. Of course, its greatest attribute Is just how well it complements the surrounding nature. We saw deer and snakes, bald eagles and a dozen different water fowl. Finally, Marcia and Joe’s communication style was fantastic. They are a great resource—attentive and not overwhelming. I can’t say enough about how we loved the dark skies, the peaceful lake, and the opportunity to explore this very special place in Michigan.We’ll be returning soon!

Spacious cottage for family vacation. It has a well-stocked kitchen and a large area on the second floor with couches and tables for reading, TV watching, crafts/games. We loved being on Lake Genesereth - my family enjoyed using the kayaks, the rowboat and fishing supplies. We frequently heard and saw loons, bald eagles, and other birds from the cottage. Excellent sunset watching. Lake Michigan beaches are close by - the one at Cable Creek is a 20 minute walk from the cottage. Hosts responded quickly.
