Spacious 5-bedroom Home with AC, pool, WiFi and more in charming Carcès
Our home is an ideal rendezvous with friends or family for vacations, reunions, anniversaries and birthdays… an idyllic retreat for writers, artists, or academics on sabbatical… a perfect long-term winter escape from the city to work remotely.
Whether you are just two – as we often are – or a group of eight, you will immediately feel at home in our lovingly furnished village house in Carcès.
As we find ourselves away from Carcès more and more we have decided to share our home away from home with the VRBO community.
The French call our décor as "sympa:" warm, rich colors, attractive furniture. And the beds do more than look great… they have great mattresses, too!
Some refer to our house as a villa, but it's really a maison de village. What makes it special is that it sits on the village perimeter. The expanse of the countryside is out the back door while the hustle and bustle of a busy village – including tractors going to and from the vineyards – are out the front door. Carcès is a working village, not a tourist-crowded monument. Within steps are boulangeries, small shops, cafes, small shops, pharmacies, butchers, banks, the post office, five wineries (in town), a traditional Saturday market, and a charming village of around 3500 people who actually like having visitors in town.
Our Provence villa is no ordinary vacation rental, holiday house, ferienhaus, somerhaus, or holiday accommodation. We call it home… and you can, too.

Beautifully decorated, artistic home with plenty of space for the whole family. Steps away from town you'll find cafes, bakery and shops and of course the wonderful Saturday market! Real town event with a nice range of local produce and products. Music performances about and one night we could see fireworks out our bedroom window! Ken and Betsy provided so many excellent suggestions for places not to miss while visiting the area. The private pool was so refreshing and loved the sunrise view from the terrace. Would highly recommend!
This charming house in Carces was at the center of all the things we wanted to do. Patisserie, pharmacies, several restaurants all right around the corner, including a food market. There were festivals going on practically every day. It felt very authentically French. The house is colorful, full of little spaces to relax, bedrooms were comfy and the bathroom is very large. The patio is a wonderful place to sit and eat, read…It was hot so the cool pool was enticing and heavenly at the end of each day. I’m not a wine-drinker but the grapevines were heavy and I imagine this is heaven for wine aficionados. It was a lovely holiday and I will return. I would provide lots of photos but I’m rating now on an iPad but my photos were all taken on my android phone.

About the host
Hosted by Betsy Brill
We are originally from San Francisco and have more than twenty years enjoying our home away from home during the summers. It has only been recently that we have be unable to make the long journey to France so we decided to share our home others. We have a wonderful local woman named Tatiana who is the local host and manages all the needs of the home in our absence. We have hosted several of our homes as short term rentals on VRBO and other platforms in the years past and use VRBO for our needs for short term-rentals.
Why they chose this property
When looking for a home in Provence, we knew we wanted to live in a villages with services like a market, bakery, bank, pharmacy, etc. We love the feel of the countryside but did not want to be isolated and in need of a car to run basic errands. Our locations makes us feel like we are in the countryside AND in the village. Walk out the front door, turn right, and head into town on its main street and its services. (On Saturday mornings, you will head right into the weekly market!) Out the back, we enjoy the views and quiet of the countryside.
What makes this property unique
We like being on the periphery of the village. We open the front door and turn right to reach the main street and its shops and services. We turn left to wander down to the wine cooperative, trails to Lac de Carcès and other nice walking areas. From our upper terrace and the back bedrooms, we look out over the countryside. This home has provided the best of both worlds for us.
