This was the perfect spot for our stay on the Amalfi Coast! The property is spotless, and the views are priceless. Luigi (the owner's son) was a perfect host. He arranged for a driver to pick us up to bring us to a restaurant at night because the driving in the region is quite difficult for tourists, especially at night. The location was great - there is a path that leads right past the front door that can take you all the way (and it's a loooong way) down to the water.

Spotless apartment, close to Amalfi

We spent one week at this holiday apartment and were greeted by Matilda, the owner's daughter. Matilda's english was very good and we appreciated her help. Anna Maria and Roberto were gracious hosts, we were also treated to fresh vegtables from the garden by grandpa! The apartment inside was very spacious and clean! With the exception of the shower, which is very tiny about 2'X2', unfortunately there were no lounge chairs, as the listing states, which made sitting on plastic chairs in the afternoons not very comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the terrace, which has a restricted view of the port of Amalfi by a Hydro tower, shed roof and grape vines. There is also a house in front of the building with a water tank and a turbine vent on top of the roof which you have a full view of. The pictures in the listing do not reflect the true view, I would recommed that they be updated, however it is still very nice. There are 26 stairs to the "street" and 80 large scales, plus some incline without stairs, so it is a difficult climb up from the apartment. I would not recommend it for elderly people or families with small children, and you better not have a lot of luggage (as we did). The parking that is "included" is on the street, which is fairly quiet, but there is opportunity for secure parking for 30 euros per week, which we prefered. We found driving on the coast very "Italian", being from Canada we decided to take the bus. The bus stop is about 300 meters down the hill,(after all the stairs) and runs very sparsly, the last bus going down around 2:00pm and last coming up at 7:00pm. There are no grocery stores near by, only a fruit warehouse where in the evening you can by fruits and vegetables for a great price. If you drive, the location is good, close to all the Amalfi towns that you will want to visit. Thank you for your hospitality in your beautiful country! Cecilia and Perry...Canada

Many thanks to Mrs. Cecilia for the welcome review but wanted to point out some aspects. Our daughter Matilda receives often our customers and speaks good English, and provides all the information to spend a fabulous vacation. It 's always our pleasure to give guests all the fruits, vegetables and our gardens. This is much appreciated by customers. Unfortunately this is the first time in many years of work we say that a shower of mt. 2x2 is a small with a bath of mt 3x3. Unfortunately, a deck chair was inadvertently broken from the family in previous week but was immediately replaced. During this time the leaves of the vine from which wine is produced, which often give to our customers, has grown a bit much to cover ' the sea view on the left side but without penalizing the immensity of the sea and the coast which can be seen from the terrace next to our Villa. Our house is a village where obviously there are a some houses nearby but without covering the view that can be seen on both the left and right side. We calmly reported the presence in the site of some stairs that are wide, comfortable and above scenic, and remember also to have helped the Lady Cecilia transport baggage. Parking is provided free of charge, but the Villa is also an agreement with a private car park closed and the addition of a small fee. We regret immensely that Lady Cecilia did not noticed the bus stop which is only meters. 200 from Villa as he not noticed a small supermarket which is located in near the junction of Tovere only mt. 500 from our structure. Finally, our openness, and friendliness, have always made excellent stay in our Villa and is also shown from other witnesses on the site.

Wunderbar

Uns hat es wunderbar in der Unterkunft gefallen. Roberto hat uns herzlich empfangen und auch Luigi war für uns jederzeit erreichbar. Es gab einen Parkplatz für unseren Mietwagen, der Weg von dort zur Unterkunft ist mit Koffern anstrengend, war es aber auf jeden Fall wert! :)

Leider konnten wir aufgrund der Corona-Krise die Reise nach Italien noch nicht antreten. Aber dank der wunderbaren Gastgebern konnten wir unsere Buchung unkompliziert verschieben. Die Gastgeber haben immer schnell auf unsere Nachrichten geantwortet und uns in diesen Zeiten immer ein gutes Gefühl gegeben. Wir hoffen sehr, dass wir im Oktober kommen können und freuen uns schon sehr darauf.

Amazing Views of Amalfi

When we arrived we were immediately assisted into the house and given an overview on the entire apartment by Roberto's son Luigi. The apartment is very spacious, and equipped with everything we needed it has an amazing balcony with great views of the sea and the town of Amalfi off in the distance. They even left us a small welcome tray with some breakfast items and pasta and sauce for dinner that night. One day Luigi's grandfather met us at the door with plums from their garden and even gave us some basil that we didn't get at the market. We would recommend this place to everyone, it is centrally located and a great place to explore the Amalfi coast from. We would however recommend renting a car as it is about a 15min drive into the town Amalfi and is also a 8-10 min drive to the nearest grocery store. Also be prepared to walk down a bunch of stairs to apartment, but they did help us with our bags which was great. Thank you so much for opening up your home for people to enjoy. Rod and Kari

The overall experience was average. The home was spotlessly clean, and had everything that was suggested on the VRBO website. Our two main areas of disappointment were with the outdoor experience and the number of steps needed to access the apartment. The pictures on the website were not reflective of the outdoor patio, in particular photos 5, 6 and 7 which appear to show a rooftop terrace, and there isn't one. Several photos are from surrounding locations, but that is not uncommon of course. As for the steps, some simple arithmetic: the nearly 85 feet of vertical climb from the apartment to parking is approximately 170 typical steps. For some, this is a great workout and okay, but be aware that when carrying luggage up or down, it is a challenge. Finally, while there is a TV, there is no television input. The TV serves only as a screen for accessing the internet. To some this is not an issue, as you are on a beautiful coast of Italy, however we just wanted to make note as we were surprised. All the views on the site appear to be unobstructed views. The real views had a giant power line to the left and an unattractive concrete roof to the front. The best views were to the right and were very beautiful. Finally, the shower was 2 feet by 2 feet, so don't drop the soap. It is difficult to pick anything up and even trying to figure out where to put soap or shampoo was a challenge. Still, a good value for this area. Hosts were delightfully kind.

Beautiful flat tucked in the town of tovere 15 minutes from the town of Amalfi.

Roberto and his son Luigi where very helpful and accommodating. If you have transportation this is a great spot for a base camp to explore the Amalfi Coast. If you don't have your own vehicle be prepared for pricy taxis or waiting for the bus.

Amazing view

This home was so perfect in every way.. as soon as we got there, we were immediately assisted into the house and given an overview on the entire apartment. The apartment is very spacious, and even more beautiful than the pictures.. we didn’t want to leave. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone and everyone, but also recommend to rent a car as it is about a 15min drive into the town Amalfi. Lovely apartment with an incredibly hospitable host

We really enjoyed our time at Villa Matilde. I will start with the reason we have given 4 stars. This was simply the location, it may be my mistake but I believed the apartment was in Amalfi town, but it is in Tovere, which is a smaller town a little further along the coast. This would not be an issue at all if you have a car, but unfortunately we did not. Now on to all the positives! The apartment was very spacious, clean & had some nice touches. Roberto's wife had left us some champagne and biscuits as a special treat for David's birthday which was such a lovely surprise. They also provided bits for breakfast for the first morning & tea, coffee & other extra bits. The view was amazing, the balcony is such a lovely thing to have & the sea looked stunning. The view to Amafi is a little obstructed but still beautiful. Roberto is a fantastic host, he truly could not have been more helpful. He organised transfers for us to & from the airport. We then used buses to travel to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello & Bomerano (to start the Path of Gods hiking trail). There is a bus stop in Tovere (10 min walk from apartment), but the buses are infrequent. There is another bus stop on the main road (about 25mins down steps - medium difficulty) & another which is along the road (sloped - around 25 mins but slightly easier than steps). Roberto provided us with a timetable & it is worth downloading. SITA SUD is the bus company & they are reliable. The Amalfi coast is very quiet at this time of year & as we discovered, rather a lot is closed. As we were not in the main town, Roberto very kindly organised transfers (complimentary) to two restaurants for dinner - La Carcara, - very good fresh fish & they were so kind & helped celebrate my partner's birthday (balloons, a sign & a candle at the end - very sweet). The second was Pizzeria & Gastronomia Mascolo Agerola where the pizza was very tasty & so reasonable! We actually felt like they had only opened for us - but thankfully both restaurants were also doing takeaway! Our last night we wanted to go into Amalfi for dinner & Roberto kindly took us & organised a transfer back which was much more reasonable than a taxi. If you have a car, then this apartment is perfect for your stay as it is near so many of the beautiful towns along the coast. If you don't, please definitely still consider staying here as the buses are great and Roberto is incredibly helpful. There is an intercom to the main house for any questions too

Schoon en rustig appartement met heerlijk uitzicht

Roberto en Maria zijn bijzonder vriendelijke mensen. Roberto was bereid om onze koffers te dragen en gaf ons bij aankomst tomatensaus en zelfgemaakte wijn. Het huis is ruim, mooi balkon. Het is even lopen er naartoe. Als je slecht ter been bent geen aanrader. Voor ons geen probleem. De bonus is dat je in een omgeving zit zonder auto's en met veel rust. De Amalfi kust is prachtig en een enorme aanrader.

Nous avons passé une semaine superbe sur la côte amalfitaine. Quelle bulle d'oxygène en ces périodes de fêtes. Nos h^tes ont été très prévenants et très serviables. La maison était très propre et la literie de bonne qualité! Nous avons même pu déjeuner dehors en cette période de Noël face à la mer! Nous avons été enchantés de notre séjour et via Italia!

Cadre magnifique et trés bon accueil

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour à la Villa Mathilde qui est idéalement située pour visiter la côte Amalfitaine. La vue de la terrasse sur la mer est magnifique dans un environnement calme et paisible. Le logement est conforme au descriptif et très propre, le Wifi fonctionne très bien. Très bon accueil de Roberto et de son fils très attentionnés et serviables: - Petit déjeuner fournit pour le lendemain de notre arrivée - Réservation de restaurants par notre hôte avec système de navette gratuite pour s'y rendre depuis le logement - Indications pour toutes les nécessitées du coin (commerces / routes / visites...) Agréable séjour

Un grand merci à a la famille de Roberto et Anna Maria pour leur accueil très chaleureux et leur disponibilité. Villa très bien située pour visiter la côte ainsi qu'une belle vue sur la mer. Roberto nous as indiqué de très bons restaurants et petit plus, on vient vous chercher et vous ramener, ce qui était très appréciable. Eugénio, tout les jours nous mangeons une figue séchée en pensant a vous ! Nous garderons un très bon souvenir de ce séjour. Nous conseillons vivement cette villa a d'éventuels vacanciers. Amazing place

We cannot recommend highly enough this apartment. It is the best view and location, and the owners go out of their way to help you. We stayed in 3 different houses on our trip around Italy and consider this the best. Amalfi is a cute little beach side town, and this is a brilliant apartment. The view is more breathtaking than the photos could ever indicate and the apartment has everything we needed and more. Highly recommended.

Havre de paix

La location est très propre. Nous avons été accueilli par Matilde et son frère. Roberto, le papa de Matilde nous a conduit à Amalfi pour que nous puissions prendre le bateau pour visiter Capri, sans devoir garer la voiture, le soir il est revenu nous chercher. C'était génial! Nous avons adoré le village de Ravelo! Tout y est beau, aussi bien la journée que le soir! La côte Amalfitaine est magnifique mais il y a beaucoup de monde en été. Matilde nous a apporté des légumes du jardin que nous avons cuisiné en suivant ses conseils, on s'est régalé. Matilde et sa famille sont très gentils et attentionnés. Nous recommandons la location. AMAZING VACATION

We spent a holiday week in June at Villa matilde. We went to a lot of holiday homes but this is the top. Mr. Roberto and his son Louis were immediately offered to take luggage. Beautiful tastefully furnished apartment with a wonderful view of the sea, of Amalfi and its coast. We found in the house: a bottle of Roberto’s wine, produced by him, some products from his garden and to finish a bottle of limoncello. The house is very clean and spacious. The Amalfi Coast is full of beauties , to visit at least once in life. I thank Mr. Robert and Mrs. Anna Maria for the great hospitality. We will certainly return.

Un grand bravo pour Matilde, Roberto et la famille

Nous avons passé 15 jours de vacances magnifiques. Le côte Amalfitaine est très belle et unique. La Villa Matilde est bien située, en hauteur. La vue est superbe sur la mer, sur Amalfi et la côte jusqu'à Salerne. La villa est très bien équipée et confortable. Il ne manque rien, sauf une piscine (à voir à l'avenir...) Mention très spéciale pour Matilde, pour Roberto et toute sa famille pour leur amabilité, leur gentillesse et leur disponibilité. Nous recommandons fortement la Villa Matilde. wonderful spot

Very nice apartment and very nice people renting it to you. A lovely place to explore the Amalfi coast from. Roberto and Luigi were very helpful with any questions we had. Right outside your door there are wonderful trails and if you can handle lots of stairs the trekking is outstanding!

Villa fantastique, vue fantastique et les propriét

La côte amalfitaine est l'un des plus beaux endroits à visiter. La villa où nous avons séjourné est vraiment charmant. Avant longtemps, nous avons atteint les principaux sites parce que la villa est située au beau milieu de la côte amalfitaine. Nous avons adoré l'intérieur, l'équipement et le jardin avec sa vue magnifique sur Amalfi. Les propriétaires Roberto et Anna Maria sont des personnes extraordinaires. Ils nous ont aidés en tout. Nous avons goûté leurs produits de leur jardin, tels que les confitures, vin et limoncello. Anna Maria fait des gâteaux merveilleux qui nous a gentiment donné. Je recommande à tous Villa Matilde. Nous reviendrons bientôt.

Charmante villa à Amalfi

Magnifique villa sur la côte amalfitaine. La villa a une vue magnifique sur la mer et Amalfi. Nous avons apprécié le toit-terrasse et le jardin. Les propriétaires sont très bons aussi en nous conseillant sur les restaurants et les excursions. Villa fortement recommandé.
