My fiancé and I absolutely loved this place. Everything was clean and nice! The hosts labeled each drawer of items and even had one with party supplies! There was coffee, honey, tea, and so many other complementary items! Additionally, there was a patio to hang out at and cute lights with it. The only thing we noticed was a flight of stairs that definitely wouldn’t fit older adults like seniors. We would definitely come back again, the price was amazing too!!
Great location on Point Loma. Easy to get to city and north suburb areas (Mission Beach, La Jolla, USD). Nice area to walk and/run in the mornings. Easy entry and check out. Easy parking. Communication with the host was prompt and helpful.
As stated in the description, the bed is in the loft and via steep stairs. If you have any mobility issues you may want to think twice. Also, the loft is much warmer than the rest of the place. The fan could use replacing in the loft as well. There is a pull out bed in one of the couches. We slept downstairs the last half of our trip because it was cooler. TV could use an upgrade.
Overall the stay was okay. This detached studio had a major ant problem. There were ant traps on the kitchen counters and around the area but we were not notified of this. No food could be in the area or ants would infest it. Spots in the bathroom had major ant infestations as well. Very uncomfortable stay.
The place is ok but it’s not for seniors and don’t bring too muck luggage because you have to climb up and down a steep spiral staircase the only way in and out which should be listed in the description it does have parking which is not in most beach rentals and a garage where we stored our e-bikes they got back to us fairly quick the tv didn’t work when we got there it got fixed the next morning overall it was ok
Overall, the stay was okay, however the one sofa bed was not able to be pulled out, the second sofa bed had broken springs and the mattress was falling through the corner. The main bed in the loft area had a broken headboard and was a fullsize not queen. The bathroom sink handle was dirty with sticky stuff and red goop.
There was a good amount of clean blankets to use in the living room area. Everything else was good.

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disgusting
All the linens available at the property had blood stains on them, we were so disturbed by the uncleanliness of the sleeping arrangements that we left the property after checking and got a hotel for the weekend instead. Either bring your own sheets or pick a different rental

WE investigated this claim. We found no stained sheets. UNless the guest took them when they left. However we were not missing any sheets. I requested pictures. No pictures were provided. We have seen this behavior before. Typically the quest makes an outlandish claim in order to get the accommodations for free. Please look at out other reviews. Then you can make your own assessment the situation.
This place is nice, but if you are wanting someone to respond in a timely manner, I would look elsewhere. I had to call the corporate office two separate times to get the owner to respond after numerous attempts to message him, and when he did, there was no apology or concern for the amount of time and energy I had to put into my reservation to get any sort of response. It was very unfortunate. The first negative experience I have had on VRBO.

Unethical Practices -
Renters beware; I have rented from VRBO for over 15 years. I have never had an experience like this. If you’d like to have some friends over, don’t. Owner refuses to return our deposit and claims we had a party because we had friends come over to meet our 3 MONTH OLD daughter. Manual says: ''Any unsanctioned parties will result in the forfeiture your deposit." There was approximately 10 people including children, who all left BEFORE 5pm on a Saturday. If we were to have a "party" we would have had to hire help to manage noise. What a shakedown. I also have confirmed in writing we did not get a noise complaint (not surprising). One of the co-hosts even came over, was super friendly said hi, and made NO MENTION of us having a party. (Taking away our deposit for a ''party''? Very surprising).
So he is basing this off of Ring videos. Which is creepy. He says we had too many ins and outs of the place, but there is also no mention of how many ins and outs are allowed. Half of the videos are due to the fact that the studio is very hard to access and people couldn’t find the ONLY way to get in, which is via narrow spiral staircase. Do you know how much crap we have to bring for a baby? How many times we had to up and down?? Imagine carrying a baby up and down that? Were there other cameras? Not even going to ask because I was breastfeeding.
Either way, he’s trying to be fair because unfortunately in the past he's had to deal with dogs, smoking, and parties of 60+ people. Not sure what that has to do with us? I will be reaching out to VRBO that he’s holding deposits because of grudges from other renters. Owner is unprofessional. VERY good at responding before you check in, then terrible at being available afterwards when I wanted to chat. I’m not sure if he pretended not to know who I was? After I finally got a hold of him after texting, leaving voicemails, and messages in the VRBO inbox, he said he had already decided he wasn’t returning the deposit in advance. Why did you waste a week’s worth of my time? Our deposit is not being used to fix anything, there was no damage, noise complaint, extra trash, warning from the host when he showed up in person, nothing.
Such a dishonest practice. I should have known better since someone else mentioned deposit issues in their review.
Studio itself? It’s alright. Beware that the loft is less than 5 feet, so you have to crouch up there. There is also only a mini fridge, and no oven.

In a text message this guest admitted to having 20 people at our Studio on 2-21-2019, not more than 10 at the same time. This is a party. The space is studio. Her logic is because it was during the day it was not a party. This guest is well educated and understood fully our "No Party Rule". She choose to ignore the policy and have a party. After she was caught she sought to redefine the definition of "party". Now she is seeking revenge by giving us a bad review.
This puts the entire Vacation Home Rental Community at risk here in San Diego. The City of San Diego recently passed a law outlawing Vacation Home Rentals. HomeAway, VRBO, the local Vacation Home Community and others successfully over turned this law at an expense of more than $500,000. The number one complaint of those wanting to outlaw Vacation Home Rentals was "Parties". At presenct Vacation Home Rentals in San Diego are about 20% of the cost of Hotel Stays. This opens up San Diego to all not just the financially well healed. Not only does this put the Vacation Home Community at risk, it also puts any of the small businesses in San Diego at risk that exist because of tourism.
This property is a short drive to OB or a long walk. Close to Freeway giving it an ideal location for visiting the San Diego area. The Studio was clean and quiet.
The property was great, and very clean! Would’ve been helpful to have had some kitchen towels available for washing and cleaning the dishes. The stairs coming down to the apartment from the garage weren’t easy to come down with luggage, older people, or if we had children with us. The stairs going up to the loft were very steep as well. The overall place was excellent for adults, and very close to the beaches and stores in the area.
Great spot for couples. Very short rides to all parts of SD. Very close to multiple beaches and the sunset cliffs. Very safe neighborhood. Studio was great for a 5 day stay. Fridge is a little small if you like to cook. All other amenities were fine.
We had excellent service when we needed help to navigate the TV, thank you for your quick action. No worries about this property however a couple of items to note for those booking here. Fairly priced and quite a nice looking space. Carefully read the ad, it warns of a steep staircase, true; and the small fridge, true; and yes that loft area is short - as long as you know all these details I would recommend this listing. The neighborhood is only OK - certainly felt safe here but a car is pretty important to have here.
Host is very good with communication, this place is beautiful and comfortable. Location is perfect for everything we did o the trip. Would 100% recommend this place as well as the host ! Had a blast.
Property was kept in beautiful condition. Just the right size for both of us. Managed to avoid hitting my head in the loft which was nice. My 5’3” wife was less fortunate :)
Near where I needed to be with parking for my long vehicle which is always a challenge in California.
My family and I had a great week in San Diego! Loved the location of the studio, close to everything we wanted to do ! Very clean and just as pictured! My only complaint is that the pull out couch needs a new mattress. There is absolutely no comfort left in the existing mattress . The loft bedroom is fine, just hard to stand as described in other reviews. We really enjoyed the outdoor patio areas and dining outside through the week!
