The summer atmosphere is perhaps the best known and easiest to imagine—the splendour and warmth of the sun, the sea, long swims, fishing, diving, and long, fulfilling days.
Spring is the best season—the weather is already warm, the blue of the sky is clear, and the hillsides are swept in bright yellow, with a pleasant fragrance filling the air. It’s also “the best season for hiking and mountain biking, while visiting the villages and sites of the park.”
Every season has its charm, but autumn has a special feature: the lush vineyards with grapes ready for harvest and olive trees bearing their precious fruit.
Driving through the vineyards during the harvest is one of the most captivating sights in the Cinque Terre, along with the fermentation taking place in the region’s cellars.

From Vernazza, it’s easy to visit the villages of the Cinque Terre on foot, by train, or by boat. It’s also easy to reach other interesting destinations such as Portovenere, Le Grazie, Tellaro, and Lerici. By train, you can quickly reach Santa Margherita and Portofino, or travel to Genoa or Pisa—home to the first UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palazzi dei Rolli, and the second featuring the Square of Miracles.
