Quaint older home
Property was a great spot for a southern Louisiana family reunion. We spent a lot of time on the front porch and enjoyed the property...even grilling steaks one night. Our kids loved the “kid size” bathroom upstairs...mom had to shower downstairs because it wasn’t quite tall enough. Proximity to local restaurants and shopping made it easy and the park nearby was nice. Overall pleased with rental!
Pleasant stay and would recommend to other travelers.
Over and Above! Perfect Southern Lousiana Experience!
This review is really to thank Thomas, our friend! He loves this home and it shows. He is an awesome dude, and he went over and above to make sure we were happy and taken care of! Tom made us grillades and grits one day, and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten! I don't even like grits, but these were wonderful! BTW Tom will leave you be if you want your privacy! He's not intrusive like that!
The property is FABULOUS! It was so clean, and my family LOVED our stay! We didn't want to leave. The area around is just melting with the old south plantation and Cajun/Acadian culture. The house is even part of the large 8 Southdown sugar cane plantations. It was quiet, peaceful, and majestic, and even though in the country, very accessible to Houma which is right around the corner, and the bayou and swamp is right there! There are at least 4 huge oaks that are as big around as a car on the property and so pretty with Spanish moss. The bayou runs right in front of the house, and the screened porch was so comfortable. DTV and wi-fi worked excellent! Thanks to you and the chefs for making Codie's birthday meal when we arrived, Tom. She loved her birthday cake! We will miss you and your home until we get to come again, and we feel we left Houma changed, enriched, and most of all with a new friend!
Quiet and peaceful getaway
We enjoyed Toms place very much. Clean, spacious and very cozy. We enjoy history and there was a lot there to view. The location was great! Very quiet and peaceful. Thomas was on the property but always to himself. He was very welcoming, courteous, and considerate of our grandson. Offered his pool and surprised him with cupcakes.
I’d suggest this place to anyone who wants lots of space and peace. The fishing is good too. The community park with pool is very nice and a short walk from the house.
We highly recommend this VRBO. We are making plans to return.
Perfect for my 7 member family!
I came across this home when I was searching for a place for my family and I to stay at while my eldest son was participating in a football camp. I wanted a relaxing location where my wife and I could enjoy mornings on a porch and my children could experience life on the bayou. I was immediately struck by the trees in the front of the home and the "country home" feel. I contacted the homeowner Tom and secured our reservation. Tom reached back out to me as the date approached to let me know about the check in process and to see if there was anything that I needed that would make our stay special. We arrived and found that Tom had left a cake on the counter to welcome us. Houma can be incredibly humid and hot and Tom made sure that the home was cool for our arrival. He knew that We were traveling with a few younger kids and had some cupcakes waiting for them to devour. There were plenty of comfy beds and bathrooms for us. The tv had Direct tv and my kids were able to watch their morning cartoons while my wife and I enjoyed our coffee rocking on chairs in the screened in veranda. There's plenty of access and opportunity for fishing and Houma has a selection of both local and chain restaurants to dine at. Tom did stay on the property in his man cave during the stay, but this was never an issue. We left for Natchitoches and received a call from Tom thanking us for staying. My family and I enjoyed our time in Houma and will definitely stay here again!
Home in Houma!
My family and I loved our stay at this spacious, charming home in Houma! The screened front porch overlooking the bayou was my favorite place to be. The house was spotless, had plenty of bedrooms as well as loads of room to spread out. My kids appreciated not having to share a bathroom. The property is large, with room to run and play, and climb trees if you have kiddos. Tom went out of his way to provide an extra canoe, and even a kayak! He was a wonderful host, even gifting us with some fresh cut redfish for dinner one night! We enjoyed exploring "cajun country" and would definitely stay here again should we return. Thank you, Tom, for sharing your home with us!
such a splendid young family..!!...was great having them..!! TG
