Welcome to Casa Noel, tucked in the heart of historic Merida Centro. This beautiful colonial home is perfectly located less than two blocks from the many attractions of the Paseo Montejo and the Plaza Grande is an easy ten minute walk away. Three blocks from the house, enjoy the daily market at Santa Ana park. Every day, merchants serve up favorite local foods, souvenirs and services. Santa Ana is also home to numerous art galleries, featuring art in many forms from around the world with a focus on Mexican and Latin American artists.
Hiding behind the simple colonial facade, Casa Noel will quickly become your refuge from the busy city life. The tall entry doors reveal a view through the house to the central courtyard and from there to the rear garden. Traditional high ceilings and pasta tile floors combine with modern touches in a perfect blend of comfort and old Mexico.
The comfortable living room includes a flat screen HD television with cable and dvd player. The cable service includes English language news, sports and movie channels, along with extensive Spanish language selections. Casa Noel is also equipped with high speed wireless internet access.
The dining room with a beautiful antique table and chairs and seating for eight is adjacent to the central courtyard, opening through the original wood archway to this bright and airy space. In the center of the house, this covered and screened center courtyard brings light and breezes to the living spaces. Sit here in the morning at the café table with your coffee and enjoy breakfast to the sounds of birds in the nearby trees.
The all new, much larger and modern kitchen opens off the central courtyard as well. Broad doors and windows bring in cooling breezes and light filtered through the courtyard plantings.
A comfortable sitting room is adjacent to the master bedroom and opens onto a covered outdoor terrace leading to the gardens featuring a pool set amidst beautiful tropical plantings. A refreshing outdoor shower is located near the pool. Enjoy the sun in the garden surrounding the pool, or rest in the shade of the terrace.
The home includes three stunning bedrooms with 17 foot ceilings featuring the original pasta tile floors. New mattresses, ceiling fans and air conditioning in each bedroom assure your comfort. The two large front bedrooms have queen size beds with side tables and storage. The all new master bedroom with king size bed features an en-suite bathroom with a delightful rainfall shower and dual sinks. The bedroom opens onto the quiet rear courtyard through high doors with a view of the pool and gardens, and offers complete privacy from the rest of the house.
Within a block of Casa Noel you will find multiple options for dining out, from a traditional cocina economica, two very special Mexican restaurants and a French cafe which also sells excellent cheeses and wine. Just two blocks away on Paseo Montejo you will find many restaurant and shopping options, along with several interesting museums. The daily Santa Ana market has a broad selection of meats, fresh fruits and vegetables. The modern Walmart is about a five minute walk or short Uber away.
Our local property manager speaks excellent English. She and her staff can arrange nearly any additional service you may need, including transportation, child care, travel information, shopping, massage or a cook. You may want the unique experience of a private cooking lesson for your party focused on local Yucatecan cuisine.
We invite your family to make our home your home in the beautiful colonial heart of Merida and the Yucatan peninsula.

This might be the nicest house we've ever rented. It is even more beautiful than the pictures! It had everything we needed for a week, including a well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels for the pool, and a comfortable bed. Having the pool was incredible as Merida is HOT. We were able to come back to the house in the afternoon, make a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, then jump in the pool to cool off. Checking in was simple and Jesus met us at the house and showed us around. The location was also exceptional, with both Centro and the Paseo de Montejo an easy walk away. There are also great restaurants and bars close to the house. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent this house again!

Thank you so much for your very kind words. We love our home in Merida and are delighted when our guests do as well.
We stayed five adults and one baby for 10 days. We loved the house as it was very comfortable and fresh even in the hot days. Noel was always very attentive and in close communication with the property management staff. Price was excellent! The pool has a good size and depth and the location just 2 blocks from Paseo de Montejo. Everything was nice. Perhaps some maintenance is needed in some areas but overall the Casona was beautiful and matched our needs. Thank you Noel

Thank you for your kind review. Our location is nearly perfect and I'm glad it worked out for you. You might wish to know that since your visit we have added new furniture in the sitting room, and completely restored the dining room chairs, as well as added a new closet in the front bedroom. We will always continue to update and improve Casa Noel
This home is truly in the center of everything in Merida. The host’s team made everything perfect. We had AC trouble and called them at 10 pm and Jesus was there within 10 minutes. He couldn’t fix it but it was fixed the next day. The home is beautiful- exactly like the pictures. I will definitely come back for my next stay in Merida.

Thank you Meghan so much for being our guest. I'll pass along your review so Jesus can see your comments. Our local team is fantastic. Glad you enjoyed our home.
Beautiful getaway. I stayed here two weeks with my son and brother, and it was a home away from home. Right by the center of town but out enough to have peace at night. The kitchen had everything we needed. Couldn’t ask for more.
The home is beautiful and centrally located but the furniture was very uncomfortable. Dining chairs were unstable and/or broken. Almost fell off one.

I'm very sorry you found the furniture uncomfortable. I am really surprised as we had all new cushions made and installed last Fall in both the living room and the sitting room. One of the sofas and several of the chairs are brand new in 2025. We think they all feel great. The dining chairs we have been having the seats redone as we have open dates with no guests to inconvenience. Two are completed and are in great shape. The others are on hold since we have been fully booked through the winter and have been waiting for open time this summer to complete the rest. Only the seats are soft, the structure is absolutely in great shape. Sorry you weren't pleased.
It was great for us as we spent most of our time out and about and only used the property for sleeping! It is a great location within walking distance of many delicious restaurants. Jesus offered us a great recommendation for our first dinner. The dog barking mentioned in other reviews was not a major issue. The showers lacked some water pressure and the heat caused an unpleasant smell on the street that could sometimes make its way into the front room. Although, once the air conditioners were running the smell was aired out.Check in and check out were very smooth and the property’s location felt very safe! Overall, a good visit!

I'm sorry you were concerned about the smell. Unfortunately, Merida as with many other Mexican places, burns their trash. They burn outside the city, and if the wind is right, the smell can reach much of the city. Fortunately, this doesn't happen often and generally blows through quickly, which is I'm sure why the smell quickly disappeared for you. But anyplace in Centro would have experienced the same thing that day. We all wish they didn't choose this method to dispose of trash, but we just learn to tolerate it.
Beautiful house. Kitchen well equipped. Jesus met us and gave us a tour. Andrea responded to questions promptly.Pool was very cold. A pool cover would be useful.House was very quiet. Great location.

Beautiful place just blocks from the main road with restaurants or the square. Very clean and the restoration with Mexican tile and large wood doors was beautiful.

Thank you very much. We're glad you enjoyed our home and your stay.
Jesús was a wonderful, welcoming host who went above & beyond the call of duty. Mil vices gracias. Excellent communications. A beautiful, well maintained casa colonial near everything in the Centro. Though we had a rental vehicle which served us well when needed, for much of our 4-day stay, getting around by foot in this delightfully walkable city was a pleasure during most of our outings.

Thank you very much, Eric, for staying with us and for your great comments. We're really glad you enjoyed our home.
Enjoyed our stay very much and particularly appreciated the location. Also, appreciated finding a kitchen that was properly stocked with cooking tools and appliances - even a sharp knife. Note: the pool is small but nice for cooling down and the court may be a little shady for serious sun lovers.

About the host
Hosted by Rex Noel
Why they chose this property
Merida is truly authentic Mexico. The city itself and the surrounding countryside take us back to a more tranquil time when friends and family are more important than.... well, anything. The local people are warm, friendly and welcoming. We wander the streets at all hours in complete safety. And our time here leaves us relaxed and ready to face our busy lives again.
What makes this property unique
The location of Casa Noel is nearly perfect. On a quiet, bus free street, yet very close to so much of the city life that attracted us to Merida. The Paseo Montejo is just two blocks away with numerous restaurants and shops. Our local Santa Ana market offers a true Mexican shopping experience along with many of the services we have needed as homeowners and is just three blocks away. And we are within an easy 15 minute walk of the Plaza Grande yet discreetly removed from the noise and bustle of that area.
And when you choose to remain home and relax, the quiet comfort of our home, gardens and outdoor living spaces will allow you to rest, refresh and recharge.
