About this property

Isolated Knotty Pine Charming Cabin w/Stone Fireplace on 575 Acre Preserve

One Room All Knotty Pine, Hardwood Floors, Stone Fireplace w/Kitchenette

Romantic, Cozy cabin for 2 with beautiful stone fireplace in secluded 575 wooded acre preserve with stream & waterfalls. Newly remodeled with bath, tile flooring, Kitchenette, hardwood floors. Nature Lover's Paradise. This charming comfortable cabin is an authentic 1930s era hunting cabin on a large property with hiking trails that go on for miles. The stream & waterfalls are breathtaking with a private swimming hole that is relaxing and refreshing. Bring your fishing pole (if you have a Pennsylvania fishing license).

Exceptionally private, half-mile long driveway (gated); for 75 years was a private hunting club but now is maintained as the owner's exclusive retreat. Privacy and discretion assured.

This building is one of three rental properties at the Dwarfskill Preserve, which include a 4 BR Lodge, 2BR Cottage and 1Rm Cabin. The buildings are spaced around a large circle at the end of a 1/2 mile driveway. The Lodge faces the Dwarfskill Creek and its screen porch and deck cannot be seen from the other two buildings; the Cottage faces a meadow, similarly private. The Cabin sits between the other two buildings, at the beginning of the trail to the waterfall on the 575 acre property. The only other habitable structure on the property is the Caretaker's Barn, halfway up the driveway, which is not available for short-term rental.

The cabin is located only 6 miles from Milford, PA, which Atlantic Magazine once called 'The Prettiest County Seat in America'. 3/4 of the village is in a National Historic District featuring galleries, antiques, coffee shops, boutiques and specialty shopping.

Heritage attractions include Grey Towers (Richard Morris Hunt-designed 19th c. stone mansion), The Columns Museum (featuring the blood-stained Lincoln flag, which cushioned the President's head moments after he was shot) and the Hotel Fauchere/Relais & Chateaux, with its three restaurants, patisserie, day spa, vintage menu collection and permanent exhibit of Hudson River School paintings. The day spa, Badea & Soul, offers massages, facials and body scrubs/wraps in the comfort of your cabin rental, by pre-arranged appointment. Contact them .

Milford is also adjacent to the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Park and the federally-protected Upper Delaware Wild & Scenic River offering a wide array of river activities, including tubing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, eagle-watching and more.

Beautiful rustic retreat
We rented all three cabins (lodge, cabin and cottage) at Dwarfskill Preserve for a family gathering: 8 adults, two young kids, and two big dogs. It was the most beautiful, peaceful setting for a wonderful, relaxed and relaxing holiday, and the owners were warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Easily accessible and yet incredibly private, Dwarskill Preserve offers 500+ acres of diverse woodland, meadows, creek, waterfalls and swimming holes. The cabins are all old (in a good way), reasonably well maintained and well outfitted with good kitchen equipment and hotel-quality bedding and towels. I can highly recommend it for a very special getaway.

Perfect place to de-stress!
Loved the cozy cabin and grounds. Engages all your senses from the sounds of the waterfalls, crackling fire, to the wood smoke (assuming you've built the fire close to the back of the firebox), to the gorgeous grounds to explore, to the comfortable bed to recover in. Trails need a little maintenance and cabin a brighter interior light but can't really think of anything more to make this the perfect getaway!

Perfect short getaway
I had a few days off from work in Manhattan. This place was a short 90 minute drive. I own property in the Adirondack mountains but it's locked up for winter, this place felt so much like home. I really enjoyed using the fireplace especially on the first night, when it was rainy and misty. The next day was a lovely 60 degrees and I hiked all around this beautiful property. There are many places to just sit and relax, read a book and enjoy nature. There are multiple waterfalls and cool rock formations, a swimming hole with Adirondack chairs on a deck over the water.. The fresh air and scent of pine is lovely. I can't say enough good things about this property, it was exactly what I needed. The cabin has a comfy bed. The kitchenette has everything you need. I kept cooking simple such as grilled cheese and soup, oatmeal, prepared chicken and rice etc. There are also multiple places to eat/shop that aren't too far. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would love to visit again. I met Megan and she is so pleasant and explained all I needed and gave me some great tips.

Owner is a writer and investor who lives in nearby Milford and New York City. Loves dogs, nature, reading and gentle, kind people.

Why they chose this property

I bought the property because it is exceedingly private, evokes a spiritual connection to nature and it is movie-set gorgeous. It is also close to NYC, only 75 miles away, but it feels like you’re in the Canadian northwoods or somewhere far away from the stresses and pressures of urban life.

What makes this property unique

Mushrooming; trout fishing; hiking; wildlife including black bear, deer, wild turkey, mountain lion. Very few mosquitoes (the bats eat them.)

Pond; stream; waterfall; swimming hole.
Exceptional privacy, half-mile long driveway.

The Historic Village of Milford - the birthplace of the American Conservation movement - is only 6 miles away, with heritage & cultural attractions, antiques and great restaurants (including the Delmonico Room, Bar Louis & the Patisserie Fauchere at The Hotel Fauchere, co-owned by the owner of this cottage).

70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
