PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

Van Som is a private country residence located in Maerim district, 23 km north-west of Chiang Mai city/airport. The house is situated close to the old part of the Maerim village and the valley, with a quiet neighbourhood, beautiful coffee shops and galleries.

The property is one rare masterpiece of a classic Lanna manor house, decorated with genuine antiques and arts combined with discreet modern amenities. An exceptional winter retreat hideaway and from where an ideal base to explore northern Thailand.

INTERIOR

The teak house on brick structure with distinctive ancient roof, Van Som consists of Lanna pavilions in the midst of teak forest (Green Zone reserve) and the gardens that house a collection of tropical and sub-tropical plants and flowers - the fragranced forest is truly integrated.

Van Som house displays an exemplary presentation of romantic past with utmost respect to attention to details, authenticity and comfort.

FEATURE

The five en-suite accommodations in three separate floors and an outside pavilion that could be the 6th accommodation. The villa building is separated into The Upper House, Middle House, and Lower House where each self-contained quarters has its own access.

THE LOWER HOUSE

There are 3 bedrooms in this floor: the Master Suite (85sqm), The Cleome, is connected to, and share the master bathroom with, Cosmos (35sqm) a perfect set up for family with young kids.

A separate suite is The Hidden Lily room (50sqm) with antique 4-poster bed and windows open to the impressive view of the forest.

The Lower House has living and family area, with direct access to outdoor and in-garden dining areas with relaxing open Sala pavilion.

DESTINATION, HOW TO GET THERE

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The cooler months are from late October till February, though the villas are operated without closure all year.

NEAREST AIRPORT

Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), with direct international flights from Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong, Japan, Myanmar, Laos, China and other destinations. There are several domestic flights from Bangkok, Phuket, Samui, Udonthani, Krabi and other destinations within the country.

AIRPORT-VILLA TRANSFER/CHAUFFEURED TRANSPORT

Two-way transfer to and from the airport is provided and chargeable. The daily hire of car with driver can also be arranged.

DIRECTION

From Chiang Mai airport, guests may take highway towards Maerim-Samoeng road.

After the junction of Maerim town, turning left towards Maesa waterfall and Samoeng district, continue the drive for about 2 km. At the small road turning left towards The Four Seasons Resort, drive in for about 1.5 km. Once reaching the main entrance of the Four Seasons, continue to drive in; we are situated right opposite the resorts main gate.

The journey is approximately 25-30 mins to the villa.

CONDITIONS OF STAY

MINIMUM STAY

1 night, however minimum stay 2 nights is required during 18 Apr - 30 Sep.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT TIME

Check in is at 2pm and check out time is 12pm. Early check-in and late checkout are subject to availability.

CASH DEPOSIT

THB10,000 upon check-in for incidentals, unless otherwise pre-arrangement is made with Reservations.

MAXIMUM CAPACITY

Maximum stay per room is strictly up to 2 adults and 1 child up to 3 years of age per bedroom. One extra bed (single) per quarter is allowed.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Guests are kindly reminded that Vana Som is a private residence and each has its own House Rules or applicable local ins-keeping, laws and regulations. Smoking is prohibited in all the buildings.

Guests are staying at their own risk and responsibilities. All illegal activities governed by the local Laws, as well as any inappropriate, unsuitable behavior or nuisance that may offend local religion, culture and community, are prohibited.
