The Suite Retreat in Port Stanley offers vistas of water and sky from your private nestled on a hill top above Little Beach. The charming atrium/bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, hot tub, sun deck and covered patio all overlook Lake Erie's North Shore. The vanity area includes walk-in closet, ensuite and glass block double shower. Amenities include A/C, electric fireplace cable TV, DVD, WIFI, propane barbecue and fire pit, and pantry staples. All bed and kitchen linens are supplied.

Discover cheerful diners for perch, pizza and casual fare as well as fine dining bistros and tapas bars. Unique shops, art galleries, the Festival Theatre, marinas, spa, restaurants, and pubs are within walking distance. Or do absolutely nothing at all... there is such a thing as sacred idleness.

This is a wonderful property with a fantastic host. If you are like looking for a peaceful retreat with a hot tub, king bed, and a fantastic view of one of the Great Lakes, this is the property for you. I challenge you to find a these amenities at this price point in Ontario or Michigan. BTW, if you have never been to Port Stanley, it is an idyllic beach town that seems like something you would see in a movie.

Perfect spot for a weekend getaway for 2. Location was great; easy walk to the beach and Port Stanley. Franny was a fantastic host and extremely warm and helpful. Kitchen is well stocked with essentials and more. Enjoyed the outdoor space and incredible views from the hot tub and patio.

Suite Retreat 40th anniversary stay

We were very pleased with the cleanliness and location. We stayed two nights and Frances was a wonderful host. She provided restaurant recommendations that were perfect. The free breakfast at Art and Soul was a nice surprise. It is a short walk to the beach. We would highly recommend staying here.

Weekend wedding getaway

Our stay was lovely, Frances is a wonderful hostess. The property is set in a hillside over looking Lake Erie and had stunning views. The patio is fabulous. The unit is a walkout lower level of a home lived in by the owner. It was still very private but you are sharing a home. The home could use a deep clean to include the hot tub but overall our stay was very nice and we would recommend it.

Francis was very personable.

Enjoyed our quiet stay. Frances does live above the property. Can hear footsteps and sometimes talking but nothing that was disturbing. The property was very clean and pretty quiet. We went for our 24th wedding anniversary and loved our stay. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who just wants to get away and relax. The hot tub was an awesome bonus. Thanks Frances. Hope to visit again!

Lovely overall stay

We stayed here for four nights. The suite is rustic and well-equipped. The highlight is the backyard area, with a hot tub, fire pit and barbecue. We used all of these during our stay. The view from the back area is stunning, overlooking the neighbourhood below and the lake. Lots of huge trees and birds. The property owner is very hospitable and tried to do everything possible to make our stay pleasant. The one thing to be aware of, as some previous guests have mentioned in their reviews, is that the property owner lives upstairs and you will hear noise, often quite late, coming through the ceiling from upstairs.

We booked the cottage but did not know it was a duplex but once we met the owner we were good. Unfortunately when we opened the door to the unit there was this terrible odour. We drove to Sparta and purchased a candle to try to mask the smell. We thought we were good until our friends arrived for a visit and they also said “there was an odour” that’s after our candle had been lit for over 8 hours. Other than that the location was perfect.

Getaway With a View

My wife and I just spent the weekend at this beautiful property and we had an absolute blast. Upon arriving Frances greeted us with a big smile and a welcoming presence. She showed us the suite which was located directly below her own living quarters (But you could barely tell as she made no noise at all). The suite had it's own outdoor area underneath of her back patio overlooking the lake and properties below. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, the hot tub tucked away privately in the covered corner, the large propane fire pit and the cozy interior of the suite. Frances supplied all the necessities for us to have a comfortable stay. A fully loaded kitchen, a larger-than-king sized memory foam mattress, a bbq etc. Frances also created a book with local restaurants and menus. We had never been to Port Stanley before so this guide proved to be incredibly helpful in venturing the town. The suite is far enough away from downtown and the main beach that we weren't disturbed by the tourists, but it was close enough that everything was within a 15min walk. Frances checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and even set us up with free coffees and croissants to pick up from a local café on our way out of town. She is an incredibly lovely host and I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway or to adventure the beautiful town of Port Stanley.

Frances is absolutely an amazing host! We visited Port Stanley for a 2-day getaway trip and the town was absolutely lovely! It’s a charming port town with clean calm beaches and friendly people! The space has every amenity you would need for a getaway: blankets for the couch outside and one to sit on the beach with, towels, a grill, a fire pit, a TV, and a hot tub (it was malfunctioning so it was only warm when we arrived but there was nothing Frances could do because it was Thanksgiving). Overall we had a great stay, thank you Frances!!

The view from the patio and deck was absolutely amazing. Communication was great. The town of Port Stanley is delightful with a lot of restaurants, a coffee shop and ice cream shop and even a gluten free pasty shop - a bonus as I'm gluten free. The beaches were well taken care of and close. We went on several nature walks and rode the local train that took us to St. Thomas and back. However, the suite listing should make it clear that this is a smoking property. We could smell the stench of smoke every time we entered the suite from the outside. And when we returned, even our clean clothes smelled like smoke. Very disappointing.

We had a relaxing and romantic stay! The room was perfect and provided everything we needed, we loved hanging out in the serene and beautiful outdoor area. The kitchen had all we needed to make a delicious bbq dinner, and we were able to snuggle up in the comfy king sized bed and watch movies on the smart TV set up. The shower water was HOT just the way we like it, the water pressure was perfect. And Frances, provided a very warm and hospitable welcome to us, very gracious and respected our privacy. We would recommend, as we had such a memorable, magical weekend

A blissful stay

Frances is the sweetest and made sure all our needs were met. The space is so cozy and truly feels like a slice of paradise. You have a gorgeous view of the lake, and the space itself has a fire pit and a hot tub. The suite was nice, had a cute kitchen, bathroom, and big bed. The suite also has AC and is super close to town. 12/10 recommend, especially for a lovers' getaway!

A slice of Canadian heaven

My wife and I ventured up from the US to stay here for a local music festival. This place was BEYOND perfect; you can pretty much walk anywhere, the view is nothing short of a dream. Our host was LOVELY and made us feel welcomed to Canada. Would stay again in a heartbeat!!

A beautiful getaway

We loved our stay. Cleanliness was our only issue. Some of the cups weren't properly washed, and there was urine on the toilet when we arrived. Aside from that, we absolutely enjoyed ourselves.

My daughter and I stayed for a couple days . I was looking for peace and quiet and that is what I got . The place is comfy and has everything you need , all you have to bring is all that you want. I would definitely come back again. Frances is a wonderful hostess. Very punctual

Tranquil Hideaway

My wife and I spent several days in Port Stanley and booked the Suite Retreat as our home away from home. Our host Francis was a very friendly, gracious and accommodating host. She made us feel very welcome when explaining the Suite and the local area. When we went down, the first thing we noticed was the great view of the lake, one of the best in that area. The outdoors included a covered area with a daybed. Just after that was a covered hot tub area that was well kept. In front of this was a patio area that included a propane BBQ, table, chairs and umbrella. Just to the side of this was a propane fire pit and a walkway down to give access to Little Beach that was just down the road a little way. The windowed entrance had a coded door lock with a love seat inside and this led to a king-sized bed and to the right a kitchen with full fridge, stove, toaster oven, coffee pot and microwave. There was also a seating area for meals in front of the window looking out the back. Down the hallway was a walk-in closet for storage. The bathroom also had a extra-large shower and was well maintained and stocked. To conclude, the whole Suite, both inside and out, was well maintained, clean and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the Suite Retreat to my friends and any others who may have an extended stay in Port Stanley or the surrounding area, as well as going back ourselves when the opportunity arises.
