This Douglas, MI getaway is a short drive or easy bike ride from pristine Douglas Beach and world-renowned Oval Beach.

The Chestnut House, built in 1871 and freshly renovated with genuine care, is the rare kind of place that feels both timeless and deeply comfortable. Original character is everywhere - the creak of old floorboards, tall windows flooding every room with natural light, the satisfying weight of a home loved for over 150 years. The renovation enhanced all of that without erasing any of it.

WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP
Three well-appointed bedrooms sleep up to 6 guests across two floors. The primary bedroom upstairs features an en-suite bath. The two main floor bedrooms share a full bathroom. Ideal for couples, solo guests, or a remote workspace.

Your private hot tub is ready year-round - no seasonal shutdowns. Pre-heated and waiting from the moment you arrive. Seats 2-4 guests with spa towels located in a basket in the dining room for your use.

We stayed at the 1871 Chestnut House with friends to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The house was amazing! They did a fantastic job of mixing updated decor with period character in a beautiful craftsman home. The amenities were superior and included everything that we needed. The communication was excellent and the check-in / check-out process was a breeze. We can't wait to return.
