Completely remodeled 4bd/2ba Lake Home, Near Snowmobile Trails and a Gas Station

Beautiful, completely updated 4 bed, 2 bath lake home on desirable Island Lake. Located only 20 minutes north of Duluth, this 10,800 acre lake is well known for great fishing, swimming, and boating in the summer and snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice fishing in the winter.

Nearly every inch of the house has been updated, both exterior and interior. Each room in the home offers an amazing view of the lake. It features 3 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, along with a smaller bedroom and bathroom downstairs. The living room is expansive, complete with a large sectional couch and gas fireplace finished with field stone (not functional), along with a large LCD TV for those rainy days. Note that local television is likely not available as reception tends to be poor.

Air conditioning has been recently installed for those hot summer nights. Wi-Fi is also available.

The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops, two sinks, professional 6 burner gas cook top, dishwasher, double ovens, and beautiful solid cherry cabinets. Best of all, the kitchen overlooks the gently sloped lawn with a perfect view of the water. The bedroom downstairs, off the kitchen, features a twin-size bunk bed with a pocket door. The bathroom downstairs provides a large linen closet, stand up shower, toilet, and large vanity. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a gorgeous view of the yard and beach area. It comes equipped with a queen bed, two nightstands, LCD TV, a dresser, and closet. The second bedroom also has a beautiful view of the lake along with a queen bed, dresser, and closet. The third bedroom is complete with an expansive lake view, full-size bunk bed, dresser, and closet. The upstairs bathroom includes a full bathtub w/ shower, vanity, and toilet. Outside, the wraparound deck provides lots of space to get some sun, along with a large firepit for s'mores at night. A 4 burner propane grill is available for bbq'ing. The large yard, perfect for lawn games, has a gentle slope down to the private beach area. Protected inside a private cove, without any neighbors, the sandy beach makes this location the perfect swimming hole for little ones or adults. You will enjoy all the comforts of home at this stunning lake home on Island Lake. Please note that lifejackets and beach towels are not provided.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. What a fantastic place! The home was very clean & was perfect for our large family & little grandkids. Was well stocked with anything you needed in the kitchen for preparing & serving meals. Great family getaway

Loved the property. This was a family vacation with our three grown children, daughter-in-law, and toddler grandson. There was plenty of room for all of us without being on top of each other. We were disappointed that the lake was so low that we were not able to take advantage of the beach area. But we were so busy that a beach day might not have happened anyway.

Great Family Getaway

Quiet, peaceful lake home with sandy beach front. House was clean and had everything needed to make for a great family vacation! Wading in the lake during the day and relaxing by the bonfire in the evenings. Close enough to make a visit into Duluth to canal park for the afternoon too.

Great family place, we had plenty of room, the beach access with shallow water was great for the little kids. We set up a volleyball net in the yard, watched fireworks from the deck, house was well stocked and Chad very responsive. location is nice, we had a tour day in Two Harbors and Split Rock and it was convenient for us to go there.

Island Lake reservoir cabin

Loved our stay at the house on Island Lake Reservoir. The house was a perfect fit for our family. We enjoyed the lake for the grandkids, as it was a nice gradual sandy bottom. The house was very clean and we enjoyed watching the deer playing in the field next door. We would certainly recommend this house for any one staying in the area.

Wonderful MN family cabin!

We rent a cabin somewhere in MN every summer with our family (grandparents, my sister’s family). We love exploring new places, and making new memories. This cabin was the perfect place for us! The kids had so much using our kayaks and SUPs. Hours were spent on the lake. Thank you!

Good Property - Checkout Process Too Much

The property was as advertised and worked well for the family. The reason for 3 stars is the checkout process and many notes to the guests. The expectation was that we would be the cleaning crew for the property (dishes washed and put away, counters spayed and disinfected, beds stripped and placed in specific bin, etc.) It was a bit much and did not make us feel welcome.

Very nice lake home.

This property was very well equipped with everything we needed for our vacation. Kitchen very well stocked for all our cooking and eating needs. All paper products were on hand for our use. I did use the BBQ grill for one meal. Bedrooms were comfortable and worked out perfect for our group. Everyone felt they had a good time. My one negative was that the dock and beach were un-useable because the water level was unusually VERY low. I know that we can't blame our host for Mother Nature, but we had a couple boats we wanted to tie to the dock for easy access. I specifically asked ahead of time if the dock was there, and I was not told it was completely out of the water

My wife and I grew up in the Duluth area; in fact, she grew up with a cabin on Island Lake! We have a two year old daughter who loves the water, so when we found this place, we jumped on the opportunity to own something on a lake. We are new to VRBO but we are committed to making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house at auction in 2016 and it needed a lot of love. We gutted most of the house down to studs and refactored the layout quite extensively. For example, the master bedroom used to be where the kitchen is and the kitchen used to be where the front entry is! Additionally, the roof was in poor shape, the siding was black from years of neglect, and the well was not functional. We put a significant amount of energy and time to bring this place back to life.

What makes this property unique

My wife completely fell in love with the yard and the beach when we first walked the property. The gentle slope down to a private, sandy beach really set this property apart and made it ideal for families. While the house itself was in poor shape, we could see the potential and decided to take on the challenge.
