About this property
Cozy Treehouse on the Lake
Treat yourself to a peaceful get-away in our cozy cabin on Lake Bernice! Enjoy the beautiful lake view from inside the cabin through the large picture windows or from the comfy reclining chairs on the lower patio or the dining area on the upper deck. Take a cup of coffee or your fishing pole down to the private pier to savor the quiet of the no-wake lake. Also, excellent ice fishing!
Your canine companions are welcome as well (maximum 2 dogs).
If you're feeling adventurous:
- Take the kayaks, canoe or paddle boat onto the lake. Life preservers are provided. The kayak launch makes it easy to get into and out of the water.
- Play a game of cornhole.
- Take a spin on the bicycles - 2 adult and 2 children's bikes are waiting for you to trek up and down the lane or load them into your vehicle and take to the nearby Eisenbahn State Trail.
- Provided fishing rods and a tackle box await your next great catch!
- Two sets of snowshoes for those snowy winter days can be used on Lake Bernice or taken to the local trail.
- There is also a saucer swing for both the young and young-at-heart.
If you're more in the relaxing mode, the Treehouse has wonderful indoor activities:
- Puzzles, board games, books for reading and books for coloring.
- Roku TV and dozens of DVDs to choose from.
And outside:
- Lounge in the comfy chairs on the lower patio overlooking the lake or relax on the upper deck while grilling your dinner or roasting s'mores in the Chiminea.
- Share stories around the campfire.
- Sit on the dock and cast your fishing pole or just enjoy the view and stargaze.
Note that the hill down to the lake is a bit steep. There are make-shift steps made out of sod and railroad ties. There is now a handrail all the way down to the lake to make the descent down and walk back up a breeze!
If you see tiny green “leaves” floating in patches on the water, that is duckweed. It’s completely harmless and the water is quite clear underneath. Some days/seasons it is all on our side of Lake Bernice; other times the water by the dock is clear and the duckweed has floated to another part of the lake. It's perfectly safe to swim through, but if you are looking for a sandy beach and swimming fun, there are 2 beautiful beaches within 10 miles of the cabin.
Dining: There are 3 stools around the counter for dining plus 1 more wooden stool and 2 folding stools located in the upstairs closet. There are also 2 TV trays available.
Here are some of the attractions in the eastern and southeastern areas of Wisconsin:
Sunburst Ski Area - 9 miles from the cabin
Road America - 32 miles
EAA Aviation Museum - 42 miles
Lambeau Field - 95 miles
Summerfest, Milwaukee - 54 miles
Guest access:
The entire property is yours to enjoy! Help yourself to firewood in the shed. We offer the first 8 pieces of firewood for your stay. If you would like additional wood, we use the honor system and you can take 8 additional pieces for $3 - just pay the can!
There is a gas grill on the upper deck.
Feel free to take the bikes and snowshoes to the nearby trails. There are also sleds if you want to take the little ones out for a ride.

About the host
Hosted by Tammera Dykema

We are a husband and wife duo, and we have wanted to own a short-term rental for many years. Thankfully, Brandon owns his own maintenance business, so we know that all of the structural, technical, electrical, plumbing, etc., issues at the Treehouse will be easily taken care of. Tammera had always dreamed of running a bed and breakfast one day. Well, four sons later, and then assisting with running our family farm for 22+ years, that dream didn't pan out. Now, instead, you will be welcomed by the well-stocked kitchen and other special touches throughout the cabin.
